I find that playing in low pop sectors increases your skill drastically. You are usually forced into 1v1 engagements and quickly learn tricks other people are using, understand common routes and people's logic on most bases, thus, learning how to outmaneouver people. In mass battles you are really restricted to the frontline and don't feel your personal impact, thus, telling if you are doing everything right is more complicated
honestly though, I find it more enjoyable having low pop fights than an all out zerg because of it. I slowly honed my asshole stalker playstyle because a chinese burning skull guy keeps on capturing a base I already taken care of. Found this late, but framerate has no bearing on hit detection, that's not how that works (it'd be actual effort to make a game work as badly as that, it'd be pretty entertaining to see a game like that though) Stuff like hits are still sent from the client to the server for confirmation (*considering the projectile thing, there may not even be the client involved here), in addition to being lag compensated on the server when they're properly received (this is why you still have times of being shot behind a wall, just a necessary evil there) The stuff they do in this area is just standard multiplayer FPS handling, not sure where people get their info for otherwise (seems to be a common thing, not specifically you) Now that I think about it, I'd actually be very weirded out if they somehow got clientside hit detection from server projectiles.

as a casual player that would run about 1kpm with1.8-2 kd if I played like most players, and about 2-3kpm with 5-8 kd when I'm trying, I have some tips for people trying to get better at the game: 1: diversify. In order to do well in Planetside 2, you will need to look at the battle that you're participating at, and look for openings; which methods of attack could I use right now. Most of the time, I will be running with a wraith flash, a heavy flash, an ESF or as a max. I do not run membership, but I do have ASP discounts so people that run membership should be able to replicate my playstyle perfectly. 2: Don't try to fight battles that are unwinnable; is the sundy too far away from the capture point? Do not bother to try going for the point, instead you can try to kill stragglers with a wraith flash for example, or if the enemy is licking your spawnshield, a2g will often do wonders. 3: pick your battles; again, similar to point two but also very important, some bases are simply more suited to certain playstyles than others, and some playstyles will suit you better than others, depending on your qualities. For me personally, my skills are very well suited to running max and heavy flash (jockey 5, nanomesh generator with resist shield for that 1m15s resist shield and shield buff from jockey) in short range fights (I have a very good reactiontime, good battlesense but my motorics are not the greatest leading to me faceplanting when running heavy) while running wraith flash on the more long range, open field defends, while I like to run esf for attacking bases, and also try to get up on higher vantage points where I can shoot down on people with my lashing ammunition rifle on engineer (asp engi perk that allows you to have a pocket ppa pretty much). 4: do not overextend! when you are fighting, always look at the map and make deliberated choices on whether or not you want to clear a corner. With my heavy flash, for example, I'm always running radar and this allows me to see how many people are behind a corner or inside a building I might be looking to enter. When there are more than three people in the vicinity an I am on a heavy flash, I do not even attempt to breach, as it is suicide. When there are more than four people, I do not breach with my max, and when there are more than two people, I won't bother as a heavy or light assault. A caviat to this rule is smg and wraith flash infils, who should use their cloaking ability to get behind clusters of mobs and mow them down that way. You can get some insane killstreaks that way.
For me aside of fps issues related to hardware, server and network latency matters more. The lag factor is a 2 bladed sword and usually it plays against the player.
Yeah I totally feel that. With my highspeed line I've got a ping of 12, then getting shot through walls after a peak behind a corner. To kill someone I need 20 bullets, to get killed it's only 3 shot bursts. That's redicoulus.

@@Noah-rm5bu Sorry. It was unwarranted. I’m just salty about it, along With the upcoming construction nerfs. I’m a thinking player. I don’t have the best aim, and despite years-decades-of FPS gameplay my aim is still average, especially factoring in lag and client side hit detection. It’s not bad, but not exceptional either. Nothing to write home about. I compensate by being more tactical, identifying weak points, attacking spawn solutions, and being generally disruptive. Many of these disruptive play styles are unconventional, like knife play and offensive base building. Every time I turn around it seems like the disruptive play styles-that are often balanced for solo or small squad play-are unceremoniously nerfed in favor of the zerg. That really pisses me off. I’m sorry I got mad.
To fix this game it's all going to start by improving the CPU threading even by PlayStation 4 standards. They made it better several years ago but that wasn't done correctly.
I close out of my game every hour and restart it, if I don't it bogs down for some reason and hit detection gets delayed. After an hour or so of playing and I will trade kills with people the majority of the time, and if I go beyond an hour and a half, there is almost no way I can kill anyone because the delay is so bad. Heat weapons will barely work, cloaking will have a half a second to full second delay (both decloaking and recloaking), jump jets will deplete immediately, not work at all, or keep flying longer than it should. If anyone has any idea how to fix this aside from restarting my game, would appreciate it.
I think you're underestimating the number of hackers in this game, but that's pretty normal for the gaming community. Everyone wants to believe the "skill" players are legit because they want to be them someday, and it's always heartbreaking when you find out they're using cheats to do stuff like highlight enemy players through walls or glitching their own hitbox so that they can't be shot. Once you learn what to look for it's obvious, and since it's well known that there is basically no enforcement of anti cheat in this game (remember when Recursion was caught by the anti cheat and the answer the developers came up with was to take anti cheat out of the game?) I can promise you right now that a very large chunk of the player base is running something. TR emerald is especially rancid.
I find playing anytime that isnt peak you are just getting farmed by the sweaty maxed out dudes. It was only cheese because it was disruptive to the super sweaty eSports InfantrySide pro squad. If it was so cheesy it would’ve been a lot more common than it was. But yeah, we can’t have any play style that doesn’t focus on twitch skills and aim.
@@stuarthamilton5112 Lmao didn't have to go off like that, I literally said I would've been fine if they didn't nerf the knives, chill out
@@Noah-rm5bu Sorry.
Disproportionate advantage: Get nerfed, still be good.
To fix this game it's all going to start by improving the CPU threading even by PlayStation 4 standards. They made it better several years ago but that wasn't done correctly.
Y is ur ui different than mine?
They farm on you and they keep spamming "thanks" after they kill you...
Bad network....simple
These are the same ppl who endlessly demand even pop fights as well.... then they wonder why server pops dwindle.
If only this game wasn't stale on console...
Omd fr
There are people with packet loss but it's a very small part of the game. Coming from experts above me.
Can we mention unstable ammo?
What about it? Unstable ammo is useless, it gets rid of 2x headshot multiplier
BY THE TIME I CAN ADS I ALREADY HAVE TEN ENEMY BULLETS LANDING ON MY FACE ITS INSANE./
Now tell me how to improve if i have 200 ping :)
This didn't age well, given how many of the 'really good' players have been found to be cheating.
Is there any examples besides hapro?
Skilled players should be banned from playing any games, because their skills are wasted playing on useless games.
I find playing anytime that isnt peak you are just getting farmed by the sweaty maxed out dudes. Like tonight was in a group of 8 maybe and we were getting squad wiped by a single maxed out heavy I mean we weren't the best but not the worst either and one person taking out a whole fucking squad? No thanks ive got better games to play.
IT mean the whole squad sucks.....that's just the harsh truth
Game sucks
No u
