Please keep your approach, I love having the technical stuff overview and then see it run. A great balance between information and entertaiment. Some channel are too technical other just don't care. Keep it up
Thanks so much for the feedback! I’ve been working on fine tuning things, cutting fluff, but still keeping the info to help out the wide experience range of the viewers.
Man after looking at the TRX4M I REALLY don’t understand other companies like Axial and why they don’t follow how Traxxas does it. Look at the TRX4M and it already has Tons of Traxxas made accessories and upgrade parts for it. Even a nice cheap $29 trailer. The SCX24 defined an entire market and Axial just sat there doing nada. They left all the money on the table for everyone with a 3d printer to scoop up. Anyway the TRX4M looks great and of course so do all the hop ups you can buy for it. Gonna have to go with the Blue Bronco I think. Nice overview.
I’ll stick to my fcx24’s. They blow these things out the water!! Out of all the bodies traxxas makes the come out with a lame top heavy defender & a soccer mom bronco🤷🏼♂️. I’ll have one one day but not running out & buying one anytime soon!
So true. I hate paying an arm and a leg for someone’s half assed 3D printed parts…. But when axial refuses to make any parts whatsoever that’s what we get
@@INSIDIOUS-ONE I feel that, I’m definitely more interested in the performance than anything…. Maybe even using some of their accessories for other trucks… that trailer looks like it could be fun to set up custom gates for and the optional tires might be pretty good too. I’ll probably wait until we get some lighter performance based bodies before I pick up a trx4m to replace my scx/fcx though
Thanks for tearing these RCs down with an in depth overlook it really makes the difference. I look forward to seeing the inerts on your channel. Just a great sequence you put together. Keep up the good work 👍
I just got the Trx4m as my first RC car and installed the light kit before first use. Went outside in some tallish grass with some small branches at a tree line at dusk. Wow I am so glad I tried this one as my first. This thing is great without any upgrades. I did buy the low gear ratio mod and will install it after getting a good feel for how it is stock. Need to replace the wheels or add spacers as I have noticed (rarely) the issue others talk about with the tires rubbing a piece of the axel assembly which sometimes causes the tires to stop movement all together until you adjust, but it has happened so rarely to me that I don't mind and am actually looking forward to solving that issue with some minor modifications! I think I got the bug...
Thank you for making straight to the point videos. I HATE it when ppl ramble on making a 8min vid into a 20min one. I made sure to like this vid, keep it up!
Awesome video and congrats for being (probably) the first to do a proper review on it! I'm just looking forward to get my hands on one green defender like that!!
Great video, thanks so much for going into detail. I would like to ask you a few questions..... 1. Is the transmission fairly quick and easy to swap? 2. Will both bodies fit on each chassis? 3. Are the plugs for the lighting proprietary? 4. Do you think Little Guy Racing Trail Kings would fit....maybe if the shocks are repositioned? 5. Do you think injora brass wheel rings would fit the stock wheels or would the traxxas ones need to be used? Thanks in advance for any info you share!
I like that the wheels don't come glued from factory! That means I can just mount them on new weighted wheels from Injora or Treal. Hopefully they are good tires.
@@asuchemist3371 yes, they are standard 1.0 wheels. Ups I didn't really read your question correctly. Any 1.0 tire size should fit. But of course the width and height is something to consider.
Thanks! I spend a lot of time breaking them down. Sometimes I even go back for a second or third round of breakdowns if I think it will help people see the parts a little better. So happy to hear viewers like it!
I like the idea of trail mode. This seems like a good RC car even for general use if you’re not into rock crawling. Cuz it’s all dirt and crappy roads where I live.
" the battery plug is a little on the new side" I will just say what I'm sure we're all thinking, that battery plug is the dumbest thing I've ever seen in my life, talk about going out of your way to make your stuff proprietary. I'm a bigTraxxas fan but I hate that kind of crap no matter who does it. Please make a vehicle that won't work with any of my existing 2s batteries. Other than that I'm pretty excited for this rig.
Sounds like you’re really into RC… Are you really going to keep the stock electronics? I mean reeaaaly? 😆 I’m already looking at aftermarket electronics to drop in and at that point I’ll use whatever connector I want. The factory connector is fine for all the people that will just buy this to play with every once in a while.
@@rcdriver yeah I am very into RC for close to 30 years now, why would you not want to keep the stock Electronics as long as they work? Are you going to need more power and more amps to be able to crawl and trail with an 18th scale vehicle? You're going to tell me that having a completely crazy proprietary connector is something we should just overlook? I probably have around 20 2s batteries that would fit in this rig but now I can't plug them in. I've been watching you for years but this kind of thing combined with saying in the video how much you like oil light bushings makes me think you're not being objective at all because Traxxas is surely watching your Channel. I've got about a pound of Tamiya plastic bushings I will sell ya, they're even better because they won't wear out the rotating element like a brass bushing LOL. I love Traxxas vehicles but this connector is nonsense.
@@theinsanityunleashed I hope so, its a three plug prong wich is weird. I would like to tare into one of the esc's and see what the third wire goes too.

I still think in terms of 1/18 crawlers, the Capra UTB18 is going to be the one to buy. It will perform better, upgrades from the factory and there will be plenty of upgrades from the aftermarket companies. All metal gears, metal links and 380 sized motor. 12mm hexes, 1.55 wheels, standard connector, bearings, standard servo and horn will make the Capra a lot easier to modify down the track. The TRX4M has much more Traxxas specific parts that will be harder to upgrade down the track (pretty standard for Traxxas though) Yes it is cheaper, but you can definitely see where the costs have been cut (not like Traxxas to make a cheap rig though). It'll be good for if a family wants to buy a bunch of 1/18's at once and have some different models and colours, but the UTB18 will be the one to get if you actually want to crawl and modify.
@@rcdriver thank you yeah I've just watched a couple of reviews on it today and just knowing has done like the side by side comparison for size I was under the impression that the Traxxas was a bigger platform
Can't wait to see what bodies come out for these, gonna have to get another shelf 🤣 I think these aren't that bad keep your expectations realistic and your good. Can't wait to get one.
Great presentation. I hoped on a 1 by 24. But fine. I don't want to add another Bronco to my collection. Maybe they'll do a G-Wagon or a Blazer, then I'm in.
Thats a good question. Traxxas will have better LHS support. The FCX is more open wheel which helps with capability. I like the Traxxas factory electronics better. FCX does have portal clearance. Traxxas plastic quality is nice. I think I’d want to see how fast the aftermarket option support kicks in for Traxxas first.
Anyone have any thoughts on these Traxxas crawlers vs Axial RC Truck 1/24 SCX24 2019 Jeep Wrangler vs FMS 1:18 Toyota FJ Cruiser Official RTR? I'm looking for an affordable RC crawler and having looked at about the $150 price range. I can't decide on which to get!
The oil-lite bushings are going to begin getting play in them (self-lubricating means they wear, it's a misnomer) 2 years ago I bought a 1/18 crawler with full bearings with metal gears on eBay for 130 dollars still running perfectly. No reason why they couldn't put bearings and metal gears in 2022 since they are inexpensive. Traxxas always skimps in all the wrong places. Then offers them as upgrades for ridiculous prices. I love my Traxxas trx4 and Xmaxx but they could do better A good example is the trx4 portal input gears always stripping when you run it hard in second gear or trap a wheel in a rock. The hardened steel ones are 100+ dollars! GPM sells theirs for 25 dollars. Total price gouging! I'm still going to buy 4 of these TRX4M's for our family, though. 😂 Sorry for the rant. 😂
I hear ya. Metal gears would have been nice. I’m kind of an old school fan of these bushings though. Back in my early days of racing Tamiya cars we put race seasons on oilite bushings. For the masses that will buy this for cheap occasional RC fun, it will be great for them. I have a feeling we’re going to see them in more cars in the future.
I cant wait to get one and i can understand why theyd want to keep the price down but no metal gears and no bearings is pretty lame. Especially no bearings. Lets not pretend that bushings are ok. Obviously not a deal breaker but come on how much more would they really have to charge to use bearings?
