I Love Helene💚 but I wasn't a fan until the last few chapters of the end of this novel. I loved that the novel showed Helene's family dynamic and how obviously they loved each other. It's rare to see that build up.
I really liked everyone in her family except the one sister 😆 And I definitely think the way she was shown in the last couple of chapters are setting her up to develop more as a character. I think I’m going to start to really like her in the third one 😄
I really enjoyed the first book. But the second one, although really good in suspense and writing, had me wondering about characters' decisions. For instance, I 100% agree about hooking up with Keenan, when Izzy just died, and also after the chemistry shared with Elias. Even though he left, I didn't see that as justification enough for her to move on as such. I did think Keenan was dodge from the 1st book though and know he had something evil going on. Didn't expect him to be nightbringer though.
Finally someone felt me! I don't get why people support Laia blindly ? Like everything is fine but in both the books (not read the 3rd one yet) I felt that she was double crossing both of them. She was getting intimate with Elias and Keenan at the same time. Before Keenan tracked them down in the desert, she was on the verge of making out with Elias and after Elias left for Kauf all by himself within weeks she made out with Keenan and yet again after keenan left finally (nightbringer) she kissed Elias within a month. I can't justify her acts to myself ... It feels weird !
I agree with all of your thoughts on this story. I am not a fan of Helene at all. For someone who is supposed to be a badass mask, she makes really dumb decisions. I also do not really like Lada. I get that she wants to help people, but you are right in that she asks other people to put their lives at risk for things that she thinks is right, but doesn’t put herself personally at risk. My favorite character is Elias. I think he is the best character out of the three because he knows what is right and fights for it. You will definitely love the next book too. I loved it and can’t wait for the final book in the series.
She does make dumb decisions 😂 And I like Elias the best too. I’m really interested to see what happens in the next one. I’m so behind on the hype train 🤣
Unpopular opinion, but I really liked Keenan. He was flawed yes, but I thought he was sweet and sincere. Him turning into the Night Bringer just felt like a really random plot twist, almost like it was an after thought that wasn't intended to be a plot twist from the very beginning.
I totally agree!! It felt like his character was going one way but the author wanted to make some drama and totally flipped the character. In the first book I totally loved him. But then in this book his motivations seemed very different then before. I thought it was very unrealistic that Keenan would go undercover since he was little so that when he grew up in the Rebellion, he might find Laia and get the armlet. That just seemed contradictory to his character in the first book.
I loved keenan’s character in the first book and I think it sort of makes sense how he ends up being the night bringer. Even the way they meet in the catacombs , with him or the other rebel who was with him trying to get the arm let off. In the second book I sort of felt his character was a little bland. The whole time he was simping for Laia and it felt like his character was getting a little 2 dimensional, like the only reason behind all his actions was trying to get to Laia. And when it was revealed that he was the Nightbringer it made so much sense. But I was really excited to know that he wasn’t really 2 d and had other motives
The second book definitely was better than the first one. The Keenan shocker, the deaths, etc. I really enjoyed it and flew thru it. I didnt know he was the nightbringer and I felt so grossed out for Laia. I think the woman in the caravan asked laia about her relationships because she didnt want to help her and had her eye on Elias from the start. Maybe she didnt want to help a rival. Overall that book got wayyy more brutal than I expected and I loved it. I havent read the third one yet. Is it finishing with the third or will there be more?
Elliot Brooks there will be a book four. And if your appreciated the way things played out here I think you will really like book three. The world opens up as well so there’s a lot more depth in the decisions as they come.

Hey, I was just wondering if you could recommend a good reading order for Sanderson's Cosmere. I've started with Mistborn but I've seen a lot of people recommending Elantris. Do you think it would be smart to stop reading Mistborn and go read Elantris? Thanks for the help =D
