@@momomomo__REAL. If the book were from her pov I think she’d have less haters. She’s just as afraid as Jude is, Jude turns her fear into anger, but Taryn’s fear is disguised as acceptance. Jude acts as though Taryn is bowing down to the fae willingly, but there just isn’t any other path for her. They both have their flaws.
I love how the first poem is about how wonderful it would be to be a fae child, and then the book opens and it’s so unhinged and gives off completely different vibes. Pretty clever if you ask me. 🧚♀️ 🌺
I love the contrast between all of the sisters. Viv inherently belongs and doesn't want to, Taryn will break herself to fit the mould and Jude will break the mould to fit her.
Please please do wicked king and every other book ever. Your humour and the way you explain things. Chefs kiss. This video is criminally underrated and I will be suing someone.
I think that Taryn stealing the fabric out from under Jude’s nose was very bratty but that’s also just very much twin sister vibes. Like they share a face there’s bound to be some resentment there
Yeah its very sibling coded! This video and maybe even book doesnt set the stage for what their treatment as twins looks like - they couldve been treated as if one person, like they had no indiciduality, or on the opposite end one got favourited over the other. That definitely could end up in resentment, and acting out like this. Also, theyre 17. On the higher end of appropriate behaviour but tbh theyre still teenagers
Vivi is an underrated character as far as I’m concerned. Gotta give her credit for sticking to her word, and I find the unconditional love for her siblings very endearing. It exists between Jude and Taryn also, and it always comes back around, which I appreciate, but not the same. Vivi would never do the things that Taryn does.
totally agree that there's not enough Vivi love out there, and I definitely love her as much as the twins and Oak, but I do think they all have their faults. Like Vivi wouldn't have done what Taryn did, but I think the way she treats Heather in the Wicked King is pretty infuriating. Nobody's perfect but they are all awesome ❤️❤️❤️
@@idkpaigely That's true.. It gets to a point where, although you want it to work out and for them to be together, you find yourself wondering if she deserves Heather..

Got to love how toxic almost everyone of Jude's relationships are. Her foster father killed her real family. Her sister has betrayed her several times. Her husband harassed her all of her childhood, then she kidnapped him, then forced him to be king, then he got exiled by him. Her step-mom doesn't like her. She's separates her brother from his mother and pressures him into being king. I swear, Vivi might be her only unproblematic relationship.
5:15 literally only 5 mins in and I just need to compliment you on how interactive-ish it’s feeling w the Jude’s brain jar & the puzzle pieces. As a frequent watcher of these types of videos, it’s really helpful and a fun way to stay engaged in the video
Thank you for this, I hope you continue with the series! I'd been on the fence whether I wanted to read this series and you convinced me! My thoughts on Taryn, the stealing of the fabric was foreshadowing showing that Taryn would be comfortable with taking something from Jude, like perhaps a boyfriend. While it may not have been malicious, it showed that Taryn didn't value Judes feelings more than her own, or even the same amount as her own.
I’m obsessed with the way you describe these characters, your manor of speaking is inherently poetic. I’ve had the “she’s very blue coded. Mean girl, beautiful, blue.” Line stuck in my head all day.
Girl, your enthusiasm is literally infectious. I‘ve never read the series, but the way you told the story has me so invested! Like I wanna go read it, but I’m scared I won’t enjoy it as much as I enjoyed watching you recap it lol. You did such a good job, and I would 1000% watch more of these(for other series too!) I don't know how you managed to make this video so entertaining for someone who has already read this series like 3 times! So funny and the perfect level of depth
Wait you’re so right abt the Jude-taryn fight. Before I read the series, I saw a fanart of that on instagram and I was like, “this is it??” Cause like that’s basically a normal sister fight but with swords and stuff

You have no idea how psyched I was when (as someone who has never read the books) the part about Vivi using her powers to stop them was used. I was like, "OMG, so Jude is going to accidentally kill Taryn, causing her desire for freedom to backfire and wind up haunting her with her twin sister's death, that's such a cool move!" then that didn't happen, whoops >.> Your summarywas great! Definitely gonna keep watching them~
The wholee timee that you were building up to Taryn's mannn I was like sooo sureee it would be Lockkkkeeeee Idk why I'm so happyy that I guessedddd ittt goshh
i decided to put this on in the background while i drew jude x cardan fanart because since finishing the series yesterday i’ve been in a trance state. and omg 1) your voice and presentation are so engaging and fun! 2) ooof the way you pointed out so many little details i kinda overlooked in my reading? like all the jurdan interactions and what the exact implications of liriope’s acorn-voice note were,,,damn thank you, it’s been So Great listening to this and immersing myself in the story and ugh!!! i hope i find videos for the other two books from you too 💛
Jude is so “my father is the worst man alive & I am his favorite daughter” coded 💕
YES!!! The superior father daughter trope 💪🏻💕💀
Didn’t she actually say that in the books? 😭

Great video! Thank you algorithm Gods for bringing me here 🙏 A great addition to my rotation of recap videos (since I’ve already watched Jenny, Mike and Caris videos 2000 times). Keep doing these please! 🎉🎉
Thank you so much!!!!!! ❤️❤️
It’s like you knew that I want to understand the book without having to read it🤣
Oh no! 😢 You didn’t mention the dress that gets mysteriously switched with something she didn’t pick, but is insanely beautiful. It becomes important later!
She did
Pleaassee bless us with more of these videos❤❤!!! I can't stop listening to this. It's as if a friend, raving about a book, is giving me a plot breakdown with giggles and humour, and I'm innnnnn for the entire show
This felt like reading the book again and really put me back into the mood to finish the book! (left it off after she captures him after the bloodbath)
I loooved your explanation. The way you explained it all was just so entertaining oh my gosh
read this whole series in a long weekend. loved it. remember none of it. did not actually know what the plot was until watching this- thank you for your service
This is one of the recaps dome in this format where I've come away WANTING to engage with the source material as opposed to extremely grateful I've never touched it 😂
I have not read this series but omg I’m obsessed, I am begging you to do the rest of the series
The Fae description, you've sold me lol. This was one of the first fae books I every read and the descriptions of them in other books still throw me like wdym? theyre not medium ugly and on a cigarette/chocolate diet ?😂
LOL it's truly such a shock when they're described as like a John Cena muscle head 💀
PLEASE do the rest of the series. This is probably the best recap I’ve ever watched where I really understood the plot, the characters, the vibes, everything.
You have no idea how psyched I was when (as someone who has never read the books) the part about Vivi using her powers to stop them was used. I was like, "OMG, so Jude is going to accidentally kill Taryn, causing her desire for freedom to backfire and wind up haunting her with her twin sister's death, that's such a cool move!"
then that didn't happen, whoops >.>
Your summarywas great! Definitely gonna keep watching them~
A two-hour deep dive/ info dump on the cruel prince is so iconic
pls pls pls pls pls do wicked kind and queen of nothing

PLEASE do the rest of the series this is iconic omg
this was the best thing I’ve watched in months and I can’t wait for the second part!
