      The Thunderhead also has a pre-occupation with space travel. I'm wondering if any of that will come into play at all, or if Goddard successfully nixed that.

    I freaking loved Thunderhead!
    I loved Grayson so much, and about the ending, I knew that something big would go down (I knew the island would sink) but I didn’t anticipate the freaking mess that came with it (the sharks for example and how everyone got completely wiped out) until right before it happened. So as I was reading and the story was unfolding I was visualizing it all in my head and was like yooooooooo...! 😵 LOL it was fantastic. The other scene that jarred me was the thing with Tiger. I didn’t like him either and I had a feeling he wouldn’t get out of this alive. And although I was like good grief he’s finally gone, I was also like wtf. That’s messed up.
    I honestly can’t wait for the third book!

    • @ebnovels
      @ebnovels  6 лет назад +3

      Hahaha, your feelings are exactly my feelings! About basically everything!!! I was starting to figure out the shark stuff once Citra was shown all the animal life around the island. Then I was like, “ohhhhh nooooo.” I thought maybe somebody would save the day, but nope! Everybody just freaking got eaten by sharks!!! 🦈

  • @tillthestarsevaporate

    YES
    My main *GASP* moment was the realisation about The Great Resonance and how it all came together.
    And I agree about Scythe Curie's death. Very fitting, indeed.
    Also, I'm watching this to remind myself of the events of Thunderhead (although who could forget THAT ending) and get myself back into that mood in preparation for The Toll

  • @leah492
    @leah492 6 лет назад +4

    Yes! The great Resonance was the best! And the Thunderhead acting very human. I got chills during that part!
    I also really liked the character development of Scythe Rand in this one. I liked the 2nd one more than the first, but I think that was because there was a lot more going on and the world was so much bigger. Everything I wanted more of in Scythe was in Thunderhead! It was my favorite read this year, tied with Way of Kings 😊

    I absolutely loved Thunderhead ESPECIALLY because of the ending. It just went place that I didn't expect from a YA book. It seems like a lot of books wrap things up nicely and this one just didn't. Scythe Curie was just amazing at the end, but my favorite part was the Thunderhead's reaction to everything. Just to see so much emotion out of the Thunderhead was crazy. I wouldn't mind Xenocrates coming back because he's like the obligatory asshole that you need there to make things messy.

    • @ebnovels

      Hahahaha 😂 Your description of Xenocrates is so accurate. And yeah, the Thunderhead’s reaction was SO GOOD! GAH!!! I didn’t even think about it being what created the Resonance. That part was so awesome 💙

    Idk, yeah, Shusterman was definitely leading up to the ending, and I wasn't really surprised, but I think that in this world where people only die in a pretty controlled way, it was extra shocking to see a whole island of people being murdered. I just felt the Thunderhead's pain who could've saved all of them in a second, but couldn't do anything.
    But the cherry on the cake was Goddard, having the audacity to fly above thousands of people who will die in the cruellest way because of him, to give the Supreme Blades hope, only to take it away from them again, and then to say that he didn't even intend to sink the whole island. It just made me so angry.

  • @Phillybookfairy
    @Phillybookfairy 6 лет назад +1

    So I absolutely loved the first one hardcore. The world and the themes were amazing. The second book started off slower for.me, other than for the scythe Lucifer gleanings. It was definitely more gruesome than the first with the kids body being reanimated with goddards head ugh. The shark scene made me not want to go into the ocean lol and the ending, where they sunk with the island was just such a cliff hanger for me, im.dying to see where this goes next. I am loving Neal Shusterman and I want to read all of his books!

      I do too! I have the first book in the Unwind series so I’m probably going to have that be the next Shusterman book I read. Which, idk if you’ve seen the synopsis for that one, but it’s pretty morbid. I’m excited 😆

  • @KierTheScrivener
    @KierTheScrivener 6 лет назад +2

    I loved them both so much. I liked Thunderhead a little more because it covered more political intrigue which I thought was amazing. I loved the different kind of gleaning, and the Saint Louis Arch, I loved the libraries and the thoughts of the Thunderhead. I personally don't think Xenocrates will be back I interpreted that as his 'moment of redemption' I just thought the gleaning at the end was epic (in a non sadistic way) where they understand the meaning of their position. The great ressonance was such a moment when you realize he brought everything together and I think the most shocking thing for me was the amount of characters he killed of. Like I expected the island to sink but I didn't expect everyone to for but Citra and Rowan. And I loved it because most authors protect to many darlings

    • @ebnovels
      @ebnovels  6 лет назад +2

      That’s true-most authors don’t kill that many characters!!! I’m so excited for the next one but we know so little about it 😩 I want to know more! And yes, the great resonance was for sure one of those moments where everything was brought together. I loved it!

    Yep, totally loved this book. Great continuing story. I had an interesting experience with the reading of these books in that when I read the first one I finished it in 2 days and it would have been faster if I hadn’t been camping with friends, lol. With Thunderhead, I was really busy in life and could only read it a few chapters at a time over the course of a couple of weeks. I don’t know if the different ways I read them made the pacing feel different to me or not. I felt that the pacing for Thunderhead was slower, and Scythe, perfect. Am I wrong??
    As for the ending, I don’t know that the acts that happened on the Scythe island in and of themselves really shocked me, but once all was said and done I was - and still am - over-eager to know the effect of these events. That along with the Thunderhead ‘great resonance’ and that moment with Grayson, I am in a bit of agony over WHAT HAPPENS NEXT!! Lol
    I absolutely loved the Thunderhead itself. I want to be its best friend, haha. The way it processes, cares, and teaches is so simplistic, but also pure, and beautiful. I feel like I learned a lot from the Thunderhead myself!
    All of that to say - I loved it and I’m dying for the next one to come out, lol!!
    Great video! 😃💖📚

    For me I hadn’t put 2 and 2 together until it was basically being told to me that the Island was sinking and Goddard doing it. I had remembered it was mentioned earlier that he did something with the animals and everything starts happening and i kid you not maybe 5 LINES prior to Rowan beinb like this is Goddard I was like OH MY GOD ITS GODDARD. Reading the entire Island being so disjointed while it sunk also induced such a stressful feeling within me the entire “Fail” chapter was just too much for my heart to handle. When people told me the ending was wild I honestly expected like the Thunderhead to just download itself into a body because the more into the story we got the more angry and betrayed it got and felt and then the ending when it just starts SCREAMING I think my heart burst from how out of my mind I was and then Grayson is the only person marked not unsavory and when Citra is in the room and she wonders why so many of the Scythe things are necessary and it’s like within 100 years the world will be too populated and Curie 😭😭😭 and it was just such a whirlwind one of the best books I’ve read all year

  • @casiedomingos5197
    @casiedomingos5197 4 года назад

    Omg I just finished this book and my mind is literally 🤯 which is strange because I was expecting a lot of things like Goddard returning and taking Tygers body because there were a lot of hints but when my predictions came thru I couldn’t help but to be totally surprised by them (so weird) I think it’s because I was reading so intently and knew sometimes things weren’t as they seemed Goddard is so ruthless and a fantastic villain I wonder how this new world he basically created for everyone is going to be especially now that humanity is on its own now... will it be everything he has hoped it would be because now that there are “no rules” isn’t everybody fair game? He was already side eying scythe Rand 😂
    I think the thunderhead is showing humanity how their complacent attitude has blinded them and put themselves into a place of acceptance and without a thirst for knowledge and boy are they in for a rude awakening when they start to get slaughtered left and right like the thunderhead says a child who is constantly swaddled won’t learn to walk whewww I can’t wait for the third book it will only arrive tomorrow and I am so pissed about itttt ugh...
