This beginner friendly tutorial shows how to start a two strand twist/loc journey. This interlock method is what is needed to get the perfect starter locs. First start off with clean hair washing the hair with shampoo and applying and rinsing out the conditioner. Apply a leave in conditioner. Next, stretch out the natural hair making sure a heat protectant is being used and hair is blow dried completely. Once that is done. Part the back of your hair off and apply shine and jam at the parting. Two strand twist the hair and interlock each twist using a latch hook crochet needle going to the base of the twist from the side grabbing the twist end and pulling it through and repeat again, but instead of going on the side of the base go to the middle of the base of the twist creating the perfect two strand twist/starter loc. Once done apply some wrapping foam lotion, durag, and sit under the dryer for 30 minutes. Once completely dry apply hair growth oil.

When he comes back for a retiwst, what do you do first?
He was getting a wash and continued with interlocking but he’s decided not to loc so we combed his hair out

started with 2 strand interlocking but unsure if they take out the 2 strands or leave them to lock

@ayooitsnova6968 You can either retwist or continue the interlocking process every 6 weeks. This is to keep each loc uniform. It’s not the interlocking or the retwist that causes your hair to loc is time and your hair matting together. I hope this helps answer your question.
It's well explained and detailed too but how do I do the sectioning for a full hair dreads this one you did is half because the sectioning for female dread is different from male dreads please .

I'm learning, I've been doing 2 strand twists on my sons and when we take them down it's torture! HOW can you/ do you take down a LOC? or do you? Just thinking about it makes me fearful.

Great question ✨If he’s getting locs they stay in and the only thing he needs to get is a retwist or interlocking…….regular two strand twist should be easy to come out especially if you don’t leave them in for longer than 6 weeks. It all depends but the smaller parts will have his hair real full while larger parts will have his hair not as full but thicker. It all depends on what you going for

How long does your hair have to be to get two strand twist, starter locks i’m trying to grow my hair out in the Summer
It all depends on you some people start with two strand twist when their hair is short as 2 inches and some wait till they hair is between 4-6 inches because some like the longer length.

What’s the need to interlock the roots?
It’s so much security especially if you work out a lot or sports. It don’t come unraveled like a retwist sometimes does.
