On the topic of 5:50 where you trying to remove that vertex and make it all 1 face. You can probably just select of 4 faces and tap F and this should make it one face (I'm not sure if F2 addon should be enabled or not)
Very informative video! I am surprised however that you didn't discuss the carver tools (scissor cutting through a cube icon in the T menu) In particular, the Polyline Carve tool. This can do quick work of cutting out crystal shapes without relying on external add-ons (in the event people can't afford or simply don't want to involve them).
@norm_olsen That's a good point. I had done a video on it recently and I was tight on time (I've been finding the longer videos get viewed less) but Carve is a great free tool.
Funny you should mention that. Since (I think) Blender 4.0 I have had the dissolve vertex have some slightly unpredictable results on occasions. Not with dissolve edge though. Wondering if anyone else has had the same.
@sashadeblock That's a good question. I have a lot of videos that cover box cutter, including some coming up so it felt like flogging a dead horse there, and covering a newer addon function people mught not be aware of seemed more "interesting". Also I assumed that mentioning booleans it was a bit of a given, but I could have been more specific.
Something I want to do is take bugs like an ant and make it out of rocks or crystals for a tabletop game I want to run so instead of mining being a part of it they can hunt bugs with minerals in them instead.
@silverbullet6833 So there was a bit of annoyance with the change when they split up the addons into the addon section and the extensions. Had that already happened by Blender 4.2 (sorry I forget)? Also are you using Steam for the update?
@@ArtisansofVaul I didn't get that option anywhere I could see it, I clicked on the splash and it was all like a virgin install. No matcap, no adding nothing. Closed and 4.2 open lol
@@silverbullet6833 Hmm.... That doesnt make sense. I literally opened it up fresh recently for my beginner videos. See this video here at 00:36, it shows the first screen you get and there is an Import Preferences box at the top. You must have done something odd (or clicked rapidly as it opened up) to not have had that: ruclips.net/video/BdUMVG-39Kg/видео.htmlsi=PYAmeZ6DzYW8LFbP

@@GAMERRAZUMNO Yep, i just chose to show one of the three ways I would have done it.
And also a great day to you, mr the Vaul :)

6:15 You can also 'dissolve' that one central vertex.

This is great! Also where did you get the Rock Generator option in the list. I have a mobile idea but I need both rocks and gems. Thanks very much!
It should also be on the extra objects I think. If its not let me know and I can go hunting.
I wonder why you didn’t mention box cutter

That sounds cool. Could be fun to paint too.
how do i bring all my add ons and settings in 4.2 into 4,3.2 without having to spend ages reinstalling everything? is there a video

@ArtisansofVaul no I just downloaded it from the blender site ( well a while ago ) not used it because it's painful to update
@silverbullet6833 When you open it for the first time it has an option to update from your past version. Everything transfers automatically.
