- I picked up a Famicom with a bunch of games from eBay. In this video, I show you how to open and clean the console, as well as the cartridges. Unfortunately there wasn't much wrong with this console, so not a lot to show you.
Not sure why the video on reassembly keeps shaking, it was held stationary, something odd must have been going on with the camera, so I apologize.
RetroRepairs looks somehow like the auto stabalize from youtube xD
Apologize for not knowing Saint Seiya SMH I always look for that catridge and is always sold out.
a tip: watch movies on flixzone. Been using them for watching all kinds of movies lately.
@Demetrius Abel yup, have been using flixzone for since november myself :)
Earthquake at 17:37 :P
thought i was under water lol
The way you opened the cartridge really made me scringe big time.
Me too.
Interesting, my Famicom that I just bought looks totally different on the inside. It's an early model HVC-002. And many thanks for this video, helped me alot! :)
There's a couple different board revisions
Hey there, for cleaning the contacts on the cartridges I usually take a pencil eraser, takes the oxidation and grime off in mere seconds. Works like a charm, but you do need to disassemble the cartridge.
But it doesn't have the risk of the Q-tip plastic inside scratching the board.
Qtips are cardboard, not plastic, so no real risk of that. Different brands may be plastic, but the ones I use aren't
RetroRepairs ah, that explains a lot, here in the Netherlands they all are plastic ;)
Every Famicom I ever serviced had the four screws installed on the Power/RF board. Maybe that's how some places harvest screws, by taking these off off every console that comes and keeping them on a drawer for when "really"(?) needed. Here I just go to the hardware store and buy some nice screws.
omg one of those is Saint Seiya (Zodiac Knights)
Just bought a very "loved" famicom and cleaned it up, this video helped a lot! But mine had 1/2" thick lint and fuzz on the board🤢 any recomendations on finding a replacement eject slider?
that's a tough one, I've got no idea. Is your slider just broken? or missing altogether? I've never seen anywhere really selling replacement famicom parts. One option is to have somebody 3d print a replacement? No idea how to go about doign that though.
Should have used that store card to prise the cartridge open, metal screwdriver will chew the plastic.
you should use sone guitar plectrums for opening shells like that yoshi one for example plastic on plastic is way less likely to damage the cartridge
That's a later model famicom, if you look at RetroGamerJapanVids's video he shows the differences between the older and newer models.
cutemimi25 cool, I'll check it out
RetroRepairs You should, the later models are more reliable than the older models, that's what he said in his video.
That blue Cartridge title Is Saint Seiya.. A pretty well known Manga/Anime
THE Japanese famicom is the counter part of the American nintendo entertainment system there were 2 versions the front loader and the top loader
Hi. Famicom has no power. Famicom power supply only has less than 1 VDC power. I already replaced the power supply's capacitor. Any idea how to fix it?
Thank you.
God bless, Proverbs 31
Good video... you haven't made one in a while!!!
The Classic Gamer Dude thanks. Been pretty busy lately. I had this video already shot, just had to throw it together and upload it. I've got a few on deck, hopefully can get to them next week and get some more regular videos up.
My eyes my eyes, stop the wobble...good video as always though..
Also it did not come with power or av cables, i have a snes that can lend the rf adapter, do you have any cheap sources for power adapters?
Ebay, buy one of those 3 in one nes/snes/model1 genesis adapters. Just DO NOT use an OEM NES adapter.
You can use an OEM rf adapter no problem
How can't you recognize Saint Seiya, you filthy casual?
Try the original GameBoy Advance model
And I ran. I ran so far away.
You can turn yellow Plastics back to the white color bye retro brighting 8 bit guy has a video on better ways of doing it
Riley Eymann correct. I've got a couple videos where I actually do this to restore the original colour using the retrobrite method
When the name of the stuff is called "brite", i call it brite
you sound like seth rogen
Interesting, never heard that one before
Pegazus !!!!
