Ah the classic step on it with the sock and cut it open technique. Obviously.
Don't know why he puts a sock on his left hand
who else is searching ebay now for cheap tripods and clean socks?
Hahahahaha!
Yeah Just buy a tripod there not that expensive
If you need a hand repairing that gameboy, give me a shout! Most of time time if you just clean out the power slider, you will be up and running no problem!
I could use some advice if you dont mind, Pics imgur.com/a/Q5icB obvious issue is obvious.
Battery corrosion, a fairly common thing.
I'd recommend removing those batteries asap.
Wear some gloves if you have them, the white stuff is acidic
(if you dont have any suitable gloves just wash your hands thoroughly afterwards)
Try to remove as much of the white corrosion thats left over after you removed the batteries
since it damages the components if it falls through the holes onto the internal components.
After you cleaned it all out (toothbrush & some alcohol can help) you can see if the connection for the battery is still good enough.
For more info you can look up some videos on battery corrosion.
something like this maybe?
ruclips.net/video/aWoBSthN3FM/видео.html
Best of luck :)
Daniel Auen I'm guessing you are showing battery corrosion.
Note to self: if buying faulty SNES, check for toe nails. 😂
18:51 "Sir, we don't take American Express here."
It's funny they have a 59.99 sales sticker on those SNES consoles especially the trashed one. Fix some stuff man. That's why I tune in.
You have some great stuff right there. Looking forward to the next repair video
For the nonworking gbc systems, open them up and check the contacts inside the power switch! In my experience (5 consoles and counting) this is the issue with nonstarting systems, 90% of the time! All you need to do it scrape off the gunk with a qtip and some alcohol to get the contact nice and goldy again. A pencil eraser works especially well too, but the power switch contacts are kind of small, so good luck getting in there with an eraser. If you can though, it's the best!
I love your videos dude, but I think you should invest in a tripod for your camera. It's awkward watching your hand fumble around because your other hand is holding your camera. This is just a minor complaint, great videos otherwise.
Ya I suggested the same, even if he taped his phone to a stick and stuck it somewhere it would be sweet xd
It's tough with the small amount of views he gets. He does have a PayPal link though, if you feel like helping him get one.
Pick a tripod from eBay and do a fix video!
No, lose the sock more foot action... lmao
It was almost more entertaining with the feet haha
can you do a tutorial on how to find this stuff on ebay? I've looked around and can't seem to find anything worth buying for repair.
Luck, you got 3 of the SNES working!!! Great job.
awesome I Still Have My Super Nintindo in Box where keep it when Not Playing it-- And Atari too.
CONGRATULATIONS ON 1K SUBSCRIBERS you really deserve them your channel is amazing you really inspire me I have fixed 3 xbox's I subscribed and turned on the bell notifications keep up the good work
Daniel 12345 thanks, I’m glad you enjoy the videos.
hey guy on that nes id try replacing the pin connector... you can get them on amazon for 8.00 i bought one for my fiances it had the same issue really loose pin connector she played the hell out of it as a kid ... seriously though its probably just the pin connector...
Hey dude, could you do a guide on how to find eBay junk? Search terms, where to look, what to look for, good prices etc?
I know this is from 3 years ago but.
1) Search “Broken game consoles” into eBay.
2) Change the filter to auction. Auctions will give you the best deals. Buy it how’s are usually a little to expensive and might be better off buying a working one Instead
That’s how you find some good deals
If your looking for lots of broken game systems, search “Broken game system lots”. This will give you multiple broken consoles in a listing and give you the best deal.
Let’s say you find an auction for a lot of 8 junk NES systems, and you want your max bid to be $60. Divide the price by the 8 systems. You’re paying $7.50 for each NES in that lot. That’s a deal. This will help you from overpaying
Buying a tripod for the camera works wonders!
Most of the time with dead Game Boy Colors it's the power switch that needs to be resoldered (even if the connection looks fine). If that doesn't help, the power switch might need some internal cleaning with some isopropanol alcohol. If that doesn't work either, check for corrosion on the battery terminals.
8bitbubsy thanks, ill be sure to check that out first. Luckily no power usually seems to be repairable
Also, reflow the two large solder points connecting the battery terminals to the mainboard.
Nice socks
Someone send this dude some socks
Wow- 3 of 5 working Snes consoles cheap price off the bat-you have really good karma with these broken units. When I bought parts Snes on Ebay they were always dead with black screen.
Black screen unfortunately is usually a CPU. Can't repair that without sacrificing another system to harvest a working chip
At 3:27 cuts toward himself in between the legs
amazing.
The 3ds/2ds not need a game to boot up and its have its own internal firmware to boot up to. You only need a nds or 3ds game to test the game card slot.
Joseph Neale also good to know, thanks
When you started up that gameboy colour it brought me back to my childhood, nice vids mate keep it up. ;)
This makes my SNES look like it's brand new. Slightly starting to yellow on the covers for the controler ports.
can you put a link in the description for the repairs of the snes/gameboys and timesplitters test video so we don`t have to search through all your videos to find them thank you
Jay Max sure. I haven't done them all yet, but I've got a gameboy video I'll update in the comments shortly
A grey screen on a nes usually means a read error and not a chip failure. Try bending the 72-pin connector back into shape with a small tool
Toasty Engineer that’s the plan first, but i’ve got a toploaderNES that does the exact same thing, and ive ruled out a read error
I love this channel so much. Thank you for making these awesome videos.
Thanks! Glad you enjoy them.
Also, I have a question that I just asked myself a few minutes ago. I have a PAL Super Nintendo (Fra, the one for France without RF) and it's broken. The game I have (Tested and working) boots up on it but it does graphical garbage for half a second then goes back to little white lines on black background. No sound. I just learnt that there was a potentiometer on the SNES, what does it do and could it fix my issues ? Thanks for the answer.
Have you tested any other games on your SNES? The potentiometer on the SNES board is attached directly to the crystal, so I'm assuming it can be fine tuned to ensure it's running at the proper frequency. I'm not sure that it will fix your problem.
If possible, I would try and get ahold of a SNES Burn-in Test Cart, it can run tests on the hardware to detect faults. I'm going to try and do that with some of the SNES I picked up.
I do have one other game. I game I first tested was Asterix as it was the cheapest on the local store and I'm sure that it is in working condition. The second game is Super Mario World, I actually bought this one with the console itself in a sale yard, so I have no way to actually know if it's working or not, the thing is, it leads to a solid black screen while Asterix actually "tried" to boot up. I cleaned every contact possible on the motherboard if you ask.
grippy feets
You have much skill in your right hand and feet lol
This is the best video series, never stop!
My SNES has a busted power jack, but still works if you jiggle the power cord around a bit.
legoboy0109 the jack can be replaced, you have to desolder the part off the board. You can actually order replacement jacks, try console5.com
Cool beans. I have an SNES classic that I use to actually play my games so the SNES is just in a closet to save, but I'll definitely fix that.
I like a man with nimble feet 😁
Nice shocks
👍👍
Boi in Britian you can't go in a second hand shop without seeing about 13 trillion copies of timesplitters 2 on clearance.
A name yeah, the North American retro game market is rediculous. I see it with all systems, where Japanese and pal versions of the same game are often a fraction of the price of ntsc. Gamecube prices have been going up and up over the last couple years as it's just starting to be considered retro now
Yeah, I have to chime in too, it is time for a tripod, I almost can't watch this.
Love your CHANNEL man keep it up
A camera tripod would come in handy with all those electronics you be handling.....
great info all you need is a camera stand lol
Acquired... This video is fairly old. Now i need a better camera stand, the cheap one i picked up is awful
Well done on 1k, I love your videos bro.
you need to spend a couple of bucks on a tripod
Put some clean socks on Adam. lol Just giving you chit. I like your videos. Somehow you have sparked my interest in these old consoles I grew up with. I'd like to see some repairs. I have an original X box and an original playstation with issues. I'm guessing laser issues.
great clip!!! how much will you sell the snes systems? thanks.
Nice gameboy
If the Nes have a bad chip that's not that bad.All the chips are can be found easily.
Love videos like this! Subbed!
I bet they still manufacture and sell obscolete gameboys and other stuff there like sega and atari in Japan...
Buy a tripod man, consider it an investment for future videos to have better quality and also to make it easy for you.😊
Dog is excited. Lel
open up the NES, adjust the pin head cart connector. possibly boil it.
That'll be the plan for that one. I've boiled the connectors before, and it seems to work. Sometimes they need a physical adjustment/cleaning as well.
the 2ds might be were its had that fall the button is on so its canciling out the power on button, bet as soon as that side is free it'll work its not like nentendo to skimp on there products as in build them to cheap and if they break throw away buy new, as that's not the nentendo ppl know.
THERE A RARE SIGHT! the back on the battery cover for the gameboy colors that's rare most of the ones i've seen are missing it, still works, both are dead, normally if the battery's leak just clean the contacts there'll work fine.
a very yellowed NES with 3rd party power unit and cable to TV....yeah ther's your prob right there not using nentendo parts! 3rd party itels are junk, only a few have been good but most of the time they break down and fail
you know for not working devices they were backed rather well, most ppl just sling them into a box with some carrier bags to pad it out and that's it, guess the buyer paid for the extra bubble wrapping
that 3rd one is beaten up, even the white duck tape looks better then it, but these SNES were built to last.....mine wasn't its broken but it can sit there in the corner gathering dust,
I'm trying to learn how to fix consoles, cartridge and accessories because its a lot of fun to get these broken games etc. to work again when there's people out there that just throw them out when its still fixable, i'm working on a Atari 2600 jr. and I'm not so experienced with that console as I have never even played on a atari console before. Do you have any advice? :)
Same
Buy a fucking washing machine at ebay, repair it and wash your god dammit socks!!!
You want the subs to keep coming in, lose the one handed video and dirty socks.
he obviously been wearing dark shoes the dye has transferred to his socks no need to shame the guy.
I just subbed and it was funny to me as I use my feet to do stuff even when my hands are empty lol. But really I think you just wanted to complain about something that's out of the ordinary....good job
next time wear clean socks.. ewww...
cartouchator fuck you
Don’t criticize
LiamTheGamer freedom of speech
Father Flanagan, do you think he enjoyed being criticized?
fuck this shit im out! that u btw
Cool video but do ur sock laundry. Or spend some of the tube money on tide. I subbed.
My kids keep eating the pods, otherwise I would.
also can you please do a video where you test out the 2ds with power cable to see if it works
Daniel 12345 Definitely, i’ve gotta find a cord, but when i do, I’ll definitely be doing that.
I seen a video once about a guy buying a wii to repair from the internet. Turns out it was just filled with cockroaches
nice vid you could have a great future
You let all the internet see Seans address!
I got my old snes power jack is broken too still plays got to move cord different way
The jack can be replaced. Requires desoldering the old one, and soldering on a new one
buy a tripod so you don't have to step on and cut your objects with one hand
Man ya gotta change those socks. Black socks next time.
Cool video😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎
Coolio!
10:13 I bought a box of bubble rap!!!
I didn't see a ad this video, I know there are other reasons why you might not have ads in this video even if your channel has modernization privileges. Regardless if you don't have a scanner Channel African been putting them on your channel they don't just give you money they also boost your popularity, yes RUclips prioritises channels with ads. If you don't want to inconvenience your subscribers just put them at the end of your video and dedicated people will watch them. Watching 50% of an ad or 30 seconds of an ad with more than a minute should give you your full payment. So keep that in mind if you wanted to give the person you're watching money.
RyanWake bradtelle youtube seems to flag some videos for some reason as ineligible for monetization. I have to go in and request a review. Sometimes it's just due to the music on games I might test.
I do allow ads on all my videos, except for in the middle. I personally hate it when a video is interrupted midway through for an ad, so I don't allow it in my videos
why not two snes and two genisis
Where do you find these deals on super nintendos? And how much (US) do you sell them for?
Binary Bacon i find them on eBay, but I have to get lucky sometimes. As for resale, i can sell a bundle with two controllers and Super Mario World for anywhere from $100-$150 CAD, wwhich converts to about $75-115 USD
I had the atomic purple GBC!!!!!!!!
Where have you been?
Lucas Loveless super busy through the summer. Back at it now though
Save that clipped fingernail for future crime scenes. lol
I have a Super Nintendo that I bought untested on Ebay a while back. After cleaning, all I got was a black screen. I've switched out the cartridge connectors, but still only get the black screen. I'm guessing the CPU is destroyed and can't find any online. Do you or anyone else know of a place to buy a new CPU?
The CPU is a proprietary Nintendo chip. Only way to find one is to harvest it off another board
Okay, thank you.
What was that knocking
3ds is region locked i think
Great video series! Do you resell that broken NES on it's own?
To Retronio if it can be repaired, I will sell it.
Try using a tripod (for the camera = happy viewer views)...............
where do you get a replacement shell for snes?
I've never seen any reproduction shells made, they'd be fairy pricey to ship, best bet is looking for a broken snes with a good shell
Dude, it's easy to replace NES pins
sjwilson1079 yep, quite. If possible, I prefer to refurbish original pins, as I find the third party replacement ones put a death grip on games. Almost need pliers to get a game out
Can You Try To Get A Gameboy Advance SP Next?!?!
Printer Isn't Working im keeping an eye out, but they cost more than i’m willing to spend on a broken unit
RetroRepairs Oh Okay.
RetroRepairs the reason for that is the modding community love snapping up busted units
Who's the seller where you get the game boys from
ToxicPineapple02 seller is dora_ts17 on eBay.
recently got 75000 subs there mate might wanna change it
8:14 looks like my NES :(
Why not replace the pin connector in the NES?
FLvol23 when I get into troubleshooting that particular system, that will be the first thing I try. This video was just a very simple troubleshooting without opening up consoles
Dude stop rushing I feel like your being timed
BUY A TRIPOD OR SOMETHING DAMN
;D
Who else here's a knock at 4:16 or 4 17
I've got turtles in a tank upstairs, that's probably what you heard. They don't even phase me anymore.
Watching this guy flailing around with his knife is really cringe inducing.
Great video, looking forward to seeing what you do with the consoles. Were you trolling us with those filthy socks? lol
Wait for my next video, I'll do it barefoot
26:30 OMG he really did that? gee.
I would like to see a video of you repairing the broken gameboy colors
