How can anyone resist not lighting a candle at Durham Cathedral. Such a beautiful cathedral. I’m an atheist but it’s a place I adore. Love the music/services etc. I went 2 days in a row in June 23.
Just been reading some of the “boring peoples” comments about pubs! I love seeing the pubs and you 2 drinking, please never stop filming that it’s awesome 🎉
I'm from County Durham and our small city has changed so much over the years! So glad you kept away from the corporate brand's and went in the proper pubs. Would recommend the Angel and Head of steam on your next visit
Yous two are adorable. Definitely my favourite RUclipsrs. Loved this video. I live about 7 miles up the road. Wish I could have bumped into yous and said hello and had a pint together. Keep up the good work guys. X
Thanks for covering my home.. "Durham City". It has a great character, very social, not too commercialised, lots of nice places, just right. A superb video, cheers both 🍺🍺
that video was bloody beaut. laughed from start to finish . love how you two just blend in with the locals and have the best time ever, keep on doing what you do best❤
Soon as I saw Helen's sandals I thought -oh eck .🌧 What a lovely city and cathedral - shame about the rain. Thanks for taking us. Loved it. Janice 👵 xxx By the way we knew Helen would read all the info on the Dun Cow your resignation "I'll sit in the snug..."🥱
Your best vlog by a mile! Loved it from start to end. I’m a little bit in love with Helen but you deserve her. I’m still laughing at your stunt double caption half an hour later.
The Dun cow was the giant ox which lived on Dunsmore heath next to Dunchurch in Warwickshire and was slayed - according to legend! - by Guy of Warwick (a knight who went around Europe killing dragons). The Dun cow PH near me has closed but you get a lot around central England. Popular story in the Victorian era so probably dates the period that building became a pub.
Pity about the weather James, but you and Helen looked like you made the best of it. Some beautiful buildings and the finale of befriending two locals and having a good old chat and a few bevvies. Another very enjoyable vid.
You both need to come to North Wales to some places off the beaten track and try some nice eatery pubs.. The rural and coastal routes. Lots of little places to park up and stay with no mither 👍
Great video, love your pub crawls ❤ Just come back from Shrewsbury with the missus and two days on the lash is catching up with me now. Lovely place though James and if you're thinking of somewhere to go, that's the place. Plenty of boozers, river, cathedral, castle, Shrewsbury prison is a tourist attraction now and also there's a belting Greggs in the centre! 😂 All the bet J and H xx
I love the way you get involved with the locals.Durham is a lovely place but we went recently and took the wrong path up to the Cathedral ,Wow it was steep. great vid
The Victoria Inn Hallgarth street the best pub in Durham they are all good pubs yous went in the Vic is the best . It’s great in Winter all three rooms have the coal fires 🔥 rammed up its really relaxing
Nice video guys. My neck of the woods. I live halfway between Durham and Newcastle so I consider both my “home” cities. The pies in the Dun Cow are legendary, proper old school.
I were just thinking, if you're still there, go and check out the South Causey Inn Stanley. It is an absolutely fantastic pub and the rooms are incredible. The snap is first class.
You must get yourselves back up there ,visit Beamish Living Museum and book yourselves into South Causey Inn. It's family owned and I can tell you that the staff have been trained to the highest standards. I spent a long time in catering and I was very impressed.
I only live about 20 minutes from Durham, and the artist who did the large Earth sculpture in the Cathedral, also did a one for the Moon a few years back. It was an amazing sight. Think you may have to include a Helen Tiddlyometer in the corner of your vids at some point, going from sober to blotto! 😂 Thoroughly enjoyed the pub crawl 👌👍
The only acceptable answer to the question 'Are you here for the service?' is to say 'no thanks, we're here for the wine, can we just have that now so we can get off to the next pub'. Another excellent town tour you do a great job showing us where to go for a beer.
Eyup Jamlen, good to see you both had a wonderful time in Duram, it looks a lovely place and it reminds me of York too. 😁 Brewdog - Hazy Jane is a fruity IPA and it is very nice and morish too, if you haven't tried it already you definitely should 😋 thanks for another awesome video. Keep doing what you do and keep being yourselfs 😁💕
Another good video Helen I am a red wine and Guinness drinker That first Guinness you had look right nice just like cream James you just make me laugh I like the way you can have a drink and still film Can't wait for the next one
Despite the rain and you getting drenched, you two seemed to have a great time wondering in Durham. I sure enjoyed getting to see it. Afterwards, I had to go do some research on the city and the hauntings in the various pubs and places. I also read where some of Harry Potter was filmed in Durham Cathedral. Loved your rounds of food and drink and the conversations taking place around you and with you, liked that couple you were with in the end. 🍻🥂Enjoy life!
Hi to you both it looked like you enjoyed your self we are often in Durham dont live far away, wish I was there bank holiday would of loved to see you both ,you are defferently good at pub 1 cause what I help Helen was alright after having a beer wine beer wine and an Irish whisky Ang

Only just come across this vlog. Great vlog, with an excellent overview of Durham. From the beginning I was hoping that you would go to the Dun Cow and/or the Victoria, both excellent, (Dun Cow being a favorite of mine for many decades!). Do a return when the weathers better?

it's my part of the world, county durham, and the northeast, i was from sunderland, drank in newcastle many times as well, for pubs, good time, good beer, great people, no better place than the north east, with liverpool a close second, in my opinion
I lived in Durham in the late 70s & early 80s. The Shakespear, Dun Cow & the Victoria were great pubs back then but you missed the best - The Colpitts on Hawthorn Terrace. Back when I lived there beer was about 30p to 33p a pint.
well the Dun Cow was what the Monks from Holy Island followed after fleeing from the Vikings, They built a small white church to place the body of St Cuthbert in where this cow stopped and lay down on a wooded hill surounded by a river, this church over the years has since been demolished re built and added on to to create the Cathedral. Durham used to be called Dunholm, Dun being the word for hill and Holm being the word for Island
A nice cosy pub in York is the Bluebell, it's just around the corner from the Golden Fleece. It's got two bars, both bars are like stepping back in time to the Edwardian era.
Ey up discovered your vlogs last week watching from the start so I can follow the thread enjoying em, proper Yorkshire down to earth no hairs and graces. Keep em coming and hope everything keeps going strong, sure it will 👍

How can anyone resist not lighting a candle at Durham Cathedral. Such a beautiful cathedral. I’m an atheist but it’s a place I adore. Love the music/services etc. I went 2 days in a row in June 23.
Don't worry, in Durham Cathedral you are amongst fellow evolutionists or pagans.
