Mount Washington Alpine Resort Opens for the Season

COMOX VALLEY - The Mount Washington Alpine Resort kicked off its 30th year of operation under sunny skies and with Canada's deepest snow pack. According to resort spokesman Brent Curtain the mountain had received significant snowfalls earlier in the week and now sits at a 165cm base.
Despite being a week day, parking lots at the resort were filled within an hour of opening with many visitors deciding to take in skiing and boarding rather than attending work or schools. The resort is starting with 50 runs along with cross country trails and its popular downhill tubing site. More runs will be opened in the coming weeks.

Curtain says the forecast for next week is for another system to bring a further 20-30cms.
