I was raised in the New Forest, one of the staunchest Tory areas of the country, to be Tory. I couldn't agree more. For all I care Monster Raving Loony could win the next general election, as nothing could be worse than the most corrupt 'government' in British history.

It was awesome to know that my tax allowance is frozen till 2028 but that people earning more than me would save big on the NI cut. Now where is that trickle down money again?
I fear it may be trickling into off-shore ex-pat accounts.
Nail on head! An increase of tax allowances wouldn't benefit the rich because they lose 100% over £125,000. Cutting the employee NI rate means everyone who pays NI including the rich people who pay NI will benefit. Of course those on higher wages will benefit from a larger NI reduction and poor people who earn under the NI threshold will get no benefit at all.
The tories really don’t like poor people, except when they are wiping their arses in the care home.
@@stephengraham1153that's not true. The rich won't gain more from the NI cut because the rate is only going down between the lower and upper thresholds. The upper is £50270 p/y, above that amount the rate still remains at 2%. Now obviously £50000 is still in the top 10% of earners I believe but far from considered rich.
Except...
Someone earning £28,000 a year will save about £51 thanks to the cut in NICos.
But the freezing of income tax thresholds will cost the same person about £56.
So they're actually WORSE OFF by about £5. Per month.

Has anyone actually done the maths to find out whether that £50 every 45 seconds is true? It feels like it could be....and if it is, then it should definitely be the next 'Led by Donkeys' campaign.
I'd read somewhere that Sunak makes around £30 million a year 'passive income' on his £700 million assets...so I suppose, from his point of view, the economy is doing rather well.
No one with that sort of money puts it in interest earning accounts. It will be invested in some combination of equity funds, bonds and other financial instruments. If he is like most U.K. investors it will be in global markets as far away from the dismal U.K. stock market as possible.
We based it on an ordinary savings account. Obvs the Sunaks will get a much better deal than us plebs. Then they’ll chuck some away to avoid high tax! Plus ca change!
