    Team No Calves Checking In😂😂😂😂

  • @amendment2711

    These last 2 months I’ve really pounded the legs. Squats twice a week. I’m hammering my calves 4 to 5 days a week. I’ve got chicken legs and my calves have no genetic quality. Cursed with the high (sprinter) calves.
    I really enjoy these videos on leg development. Thank you. I do feel I’m making progress. Let’s see what 1 year does.

    • @krane15
      @krane15 4 года назад +17

      Hmm, "Cursed with the high (sprinter) calves." From sprinter's perspective you would be "blessed" with sprinter calves. Not that I don't get your point. But should a cheetah be jealous of a lion?

    • @amendment2711
      @amendment2711 4 года назад +7

      Krane Point taken. 25 years ago I was running a 4.4sec 40. But the legs are skinny. Ignored them in the weight room many years. Now, at my age, it takes a couple attempts to put on socks. The Soleus is very under developed. I avoid wearing shorts because of it. I’m trying to change that. Oh, and no longer being a Cheetah might have something to do with it, too. Ha.

      Amendment #2 I got fucked over with genetics..
      My Dad who has been working out for like 20+ years has massive calves, though I think a lot of them are genetics but they’re huge.
      I didn’t inherit them, but my older sister did. She’s 5 ft tall and she has the same monster calves...

    • @johnmadsen37
      @johnmadsen37 4 года назад +1

      I also am genetically skinny. But with serious weight training. One group a week. Make sure you go slow and burn out every single muscle fiber from every angle.
      My legs days take over two hours (once a week). Resting is only to lower my heart rate. Maybe a minute between sets. It’s business.
      You should be stumbling out. Like you get beat up.
      I could not train my legs or calves days in a row. This means you are not burning your muscle fibers. Re-examine your workout.
      Btw, my calves did grow. They are not huge but no longer skinny. It take real serious work.

    Many great tips . My calves developed a lot after I started training my legs barefoot and with flip flop shoes , so much more contact with the muscle.

      I bought a cheap ass pair of high top Airwalks from Payless before they went out of business. They have a thin, flat sole. I got them specifically for leg day. They're several years old, but I used them just this morning, with continuing progress at 41 rotten years old.

    Dude is a beast, and very helpful. I started to use this machine with high reps like he's indicating, after every workout and I saw noticeable difference in the size of my calves.

  • @wille4247
    @wille4247 9 месяцев назад

    The way I hit mine is with very controlled reps and double squeeze on the top on seated calf and standing calf superset with legs press calf presses. I finish each set with a 20-30 seconds stattic hold on the stretch position using the machine leg press with about 150lbs and just let fascia strech after getting a really good pump each set.
    I was not getting my calves to grow past 16 inches before doing this and now they are 17.5. In my prime they were around 18 inches. I also had access to a donkey calf raise machine, which is great for me to make them grow.
    Another way to make them grow is to walk using your toes on the treadmill. Set the sucker to max incline and do 5-10 of incline walking using your toes. It's hard to describe, but that $hit will make your calves burn and will make them grow also. Pretend like you're walking on your tippy toes and doing a mini calf raise with each leg every step and focus and squeezing at the top.

      They're an endurance muscle so its virtually impossible to push them to exhaustion. I end up getting sore feet i.e. instep, toes, long before my calves become exhausted.

    I like to super set seated calf raises with standing single leg calf raises. I also like doing standing calf raises using a Smith machine since I get a lot of force production. Another tip is riding a heavy mountain bike in low gear, on your balls of the feet, for many miles at a time tends blow up your calves. Granted I am blessed with 18" calves at a average 5'9" height.

    I recently heard a tearing sound in my right leg while doing the leg press with a mid to heavy weight. It turns out that is the Soleus muscle, I didn't even know it existed. Whether it is actually torn or not I do not know for sure as Covid prevents doctor visits etc. It's a worry as I'm trying to reach a goal of !000kg and hoping this is not a major set back. Would like to hear about this kind of injury as I've looked around and not found any information.
