That's a Bratwurst, mate. Not a Weißwurst. You are supposed to eat those with the skin, that's why you fry/grill it in the first place to get some of the roasted aroma. Also, since it's rather big, it's advised to fry it evenly on all sides.

Thanks for the heads up. Went I Lidl and bought all the beers. Found the pretzels but not the sausages. Trying a couple of bottles tonight and they have been excellent.

I’m a German beer fanboy but I think the Lidl selection box is overpriced.
Especially when you can get three 660 ml bottles of Warsteiner or Krombacher in tescos for 6 quid, ie 2 quid a bottle, and 4 cans of Bitburger for £6.50 in Waitrose.
It is overpriced. But then you do get some festival strength ones in there and it’s not all lager.

Hiya Simon. Tip: Never use a fork cooking sausages. Pricking the sausages, either deliberately or accidentally, will allow precious juice and fat to escape, and since fat equals flavour, you do not want to do that. Just saying..Cheers Simon.

He's the master of the beers....and the wife does the cooking. (sausages check the fat content..more fat you cook longer less not so much) chopping board and a sharp knife!
I do like a good sweet malt beer, it's a very pleasant drink with food or snacks.

I grabbed a box from Lidl yesterday, 3 left for tonight. All great beers, only 1 of the marzens wasnt really to my taste but still a great beer. The only problem with having just one of each is you very quickly forget the character of each beer. One isnt enough 😂

Absolutely no Oktoberfest products in our Lidl in Cyprus this year. Last year we had loads of Oktoberfest beer and food. I was very disappointed but had my own Oktoberfest with a selection of excellent Weltenburger Kloster beers along with various Hofbrau beers and padded out with Bitburg, Warsteiner and Krombacher. I was able to get some bratties from a deli and had some curry ketchup I bought earlier this year.
None in Finland either - just regular German 'Fest' weeks. Other supermarkets do sell the full range of Oktoberfest beers. Lidl Finland only sold the Paulaner Oktoberfest beers (50cl tins) this year.

I picked up a box of these beers. I’ve found a lot of them having sweet malt profiles which I’m not overly keen on. Plus many had next to no head retention. So I’m a bit underwhelmed, sadly.

Did your Lidl not have any German sweet spicy mustard you mentioned in a previous video Simon? I managed to get the cheese and beer sausages and with the sweet mustard in a brioche bun tastes delicious. Also got the beer boxset, Festbier and the Erdinger Oktoberfest beer and that really is a lovely beer as you mention.

Wiesn is pronounced "veezn", and is the local term for "Oktoberfest". Just like Londoners call their Underground system "the tube". "Tragerl" is the Bavarian word for a foldable paper beer holder (yes there is a word for that ;) )

You ranked the beer same as last year: 6/10. Wondering ifthe others will have a different ranking and what the top 3 beers from the box are (perhaps have two final rounds where you test 2 of the top beers against each other?)..
Spoiler: last years results for the other beers were as follows: 7/10: Teisnacher 1543. 8/10: Falter Pichelsteiner Festbier. And the rest of them got a 9 out of 10 (Schneider Festweisse, Irlbacher Volksvestbier, Bischofshof Festbier, Gillamoos Bier, Hofbrau Oktoberfestbier and Hohenthanner Festbier).
The desperate attempt to not use too many innuendos made this video. Sausage was a tad overdone for me, but probably tastes lovely. Beer sounds amazing with the sweet malt

Agreed, stocked most of the stuff when I went yesterday. Wanted the beer box but didn't have any, messaged lidl to see if they can check stock levels. On a hunt for the box of beer 😂

Pretty much all German sausages are precooked when bought in shops. Just only have to get a bit of color onto to them before eating
I hate thick skinned sausages. In fact most German sausages are shit TBH. No idea what people see in them. British ones are way nicer.
