I had the pleasure of living in Ayr from 1998-1999. I just loved the historical feel to this beautiful town. I revisited 3 times a year until 2005, where the town had become (In my modest opinion) a strange criss-cross between exclusive shops for the few and thrifty stores for the many. I'll never, ever forget this lovely gem of a town!
I have not been to Ayr but hope to visit in 2023. My ancestors came to America from Ayr in the early 1700's, so it would be great to see the 'old country'.
I spent just over 2 years there, on and off pretty much, between Sept 2021 and November 2023 with my fiance, who sadly passed away then. I've never felt so welcome as I did there, it's a nice wee place, and I hope to still go back to visit many times in the future. Love you Ayr,what a pity your council ate allowing the High Street to become so derelict now due to the high rents.
This was really cool! I live in Houston, Texas but I have friends who live in Ayr and I will be coming to visit them once this pandemic ends. So I am really appreciating the sneak preview! Lol!
