Enjoying your videos guys. The ice cream parlour you saw in Largs Nardinis was indeed built in the 1930's. My late Dad used to spend his school holidays there. A few weeks before he passed away we took him down to Largs for a last visit. ''I watched that being built'' he said of Nardinis. This was no surprise as he'd said so dozens of times down the years. 🙂
Hi, Great to hear you are enjoying the videos! That's very nice he got to go back to Largs as it sounds like it meant a lot to him and we are sorry for your loss. Thanks for watching 😊
Largs, where we had great holidays in my childhood and I was there last summer and was chuffed when the Dolphins circled around the little boat i was on .. fabulous time. The river Clyde the wonderful Clyde, the name of it thrills me and fills with pride.🎉 great video guys ❤
Yeah for sure, we experienced it 😉. we have been looking forwards to touring Scotland for a long time and was great to visit the place where Sean's Dad is from 😊
Thanks Jim! They do double the size of footage that we capture lol but we think they are well worth it so thanks for your comment. Hehe brilliant indeed 😆 Thanks for watching and catch you in the next one
Electric brae! Brought back memories for me as a wean in the 50s. Traffic was quiet then and my dad would stop his A35, handbrake off, and the car would roll uphill! Or what seemed uphill.
Growing up in Scotland every Glasgow fair my hometown of Airdrie would lay on buses for a day trip to Ayr . It’s a beautiful town & its hold wonderful childhood memories. Thanks for sharing your road trip with us locals 🏴
Hi Janice, thanks very much for watching and it's great to hear you are enjoying the videos. Isle of Arran looks beautiful but we just didn't have time on this tour. We will have covered 8500km through the UK and Ireland in 4 weeks by the time it's done. We are thinking of coming back just to explore the islands of Scotland. Glad you're enjoying the videos 😎👍

Hi, yeah this is the start of the Scotland section of the Heading West Tour, a fantastic country and we have an incredible time. Thanks for watching 😎👍
Of you crossed around May 11, all those bikers may have visited the North West 200 motorcycle races. Nice ride again. Ireland was beautifull. Now into Scotland. Enjoy! 😎👍
Really enjoyed that. I love Glasgow and have actually stayed in that same Ibis, too. It's nice to see some familiar landmarks as you were riding through. Looking forward to the next installment 🙂
Hi Gary. yeah we really liked Glasgow too, shame we didn't have much time there so hopefully we will get the chance to return. That Ibis was a bargain and very convenient. Next episode out later today 😊👍
Hey Steve, it's a lovely spot for sure and very easy to get to. Hope you had a nice time and it's great that they have restored the art deco café on the corner 😊
Yeah we really liked Glasgow (as you will see in the next episode) just wished we had had longer in the city. Really good to hear you are enjoying the content and we are very thankful to be able to enjoy the spectacular scenery in Scotland. Thanks for watching and we hope you enjoy the rest of the series
Hi Emma and Sean Can i just say how much I am enjoying your current series, just watched you arrive in scotland, it is fun trying to work out the areas you are travelling through. I have just bought myself a triumph bonneville t120, even though the trips you do would be too much on the bonnie, it certainly is giving me ideas for trips around the uk. Really looking forward to seeing where you travel around scotland as i am very familiar with it, we hire a cottage in perthshire on the dunalastair estate, so cannot wait to see if you ride through to rannoch past queens view. Take care on your travels, you are both very inspiring Chris
Hi Chris, Thanks very much for your comment and it's nice to hear you are enjoying the series. If you want to see the exact route of each day there is a link in the first comment of each episode that has our route of the day in. Congratulations on the bike! The Triumph Bonneville is a beautiful bike so we are sure you will love it! Plenty of places to explore in the UK 😊 We hope you enjoy the rest of the tour and we look forwards to sharing Scotland with you. Hope to hear from you again. Sean and Emily
Hi guy's love your video's, the weird shaped Island is the Ailsa Craig and is where they get the granite rock for making the famous Scottish curling stones. My sisters name is Ailsa as we have relatives from that area, keep the video's coming great photography too.
Glad you are enjoying the videos! Ah interesting -a curling stone would have made a good albeit heavy souvenir 😁 Full playlist of UK and Ireland is now complete: ruclips.net/p/PLl_mRzVHVQ0zUtFe7yIi6rO-2-k465D31&si=oijTQV-sp-57Y5L-
Electric Brae was cool. We have those in the States and they usually call them Gravity Hills. I've heard of people rolling tennis balls or pouring water uphill too, to watch in amazement.
We need to look out for them, as the novelty will never wear off! Apparently Ireland has a few too. That's a good idea, might have to try that on the next one 😎👍
nice video, its not everyone in a hurry in Scotland you will find locals tend to ride fast, Enjoy the nc 500 some amazing roads. The town you went in Ayr is pronounced AIR
Thanks, felt like everyone was in hurry to get off that boat but guess they just wanted to get back home. Scotland is an amazing place and we look forwards to sharing the trip! Thanks!
Living in Glasgow I used to regularly drive down to Largs for fresh air walk along the promenade. I can't believe you guys drove through and didn't have fish n chips or ice cream. Its the law! 😂
Largs is a lovely place, nice to see the place where my dad grew up 😊 I also can’t believe we didn’t stop at the chippy! 🤣🤣 -could smell the chips as we road past (was promised food in Glasgow but everything was shut lol)
@@SeanandEmily some Largs related trivia. Colin Weir & Mrs came from there. Won £167 Million on Euro lotto. They told next door neighbour to pick any car he wanted and they would pay. Everyone was shouting Bugatti Veyron! They're worth a million. But the guy respected the Weirs and chose not to rip the P. But he still got an Audi RS8. I never met this guy but he was in a virtual team with me and it was the team leader who spilled the beans. No, I know you really don't need to know this. 😂😂
Haha thanks for that! £167 million!! 😲 -well i guess they weren't too concerned with the prices of hotels lol 🤣 That's nice of them and good of the neighbor not to take the mick ....although i would be tempted to say Aston Martin 😉
Thanks David. If we had had more time we would have loved to do some hikes as it looks like there are countless options! Glad you enjoy the videos, often we forget the cameras are rolling 😆
Never mind the 'sea of two wheels'! Look at the red 1995 VFR750 next to you as you're leaving the ferry. Gorgeous. Wish I still had mine, that was red as well.

I had family just round the corner from your dads house in Largs - leckie who lived on royal ave - Jimmy -Mary -Archie -Brian -fergus - Margaret -and carol - I stayed there many a happy time as a young boy with my aunt and uncle and cousins.. perhaps your dad knew them
@ 14.33 when you turned right, I would suggest that you should have parked and enjoyed the timeless pleasure of sitting outside at Nardini's enjoying a Fish Tea (fish and chips, buttered bread, and pot of tea) followed with a knickerbocker glory and Espresso Doppio...as a Glesga (Glasgow) biker I've been doing this since the late seventies. Same as it ever was, same as it ever was, to plagiarise David Byrne 💓
Thanks for the tips! Yeah it would have been nice to go in there as my Dad remembers going there as a child. Unfortunately with all these big tours time was against us and as it was already late we needed to get to Glasgow that night. It's great that it ahs been restored as I believe it had fallen into disrepair. 👍
It's amazing how many people are recognising their towns on this first episode in Scotland, it looks a really nice place to live with lots of history - also love a town with a Harbour. The Roads in Scotland are amazing - we have had the best time ever! 😀👍
The island Ailsa Craig....back in the days before cheap flights from Ireland to Scotland and everyone travelled by ferry (mostly Belfast to Ardrossan) was called 'Paddy's Milestone'
Me encanta ver sus videos, son muy divertidos y sobre todo disfruto mucho los panoramas que existen del otro lado del mundo, tiene unas vistas espectaculares y muy bonitas. Saludos desde Mexico 🇲🇽… Regards!!!
Hi Cristos, it's great to know you are watching from Mexico and we welcome you to the channel! Hopefully we will make it to your country as well someday 😊 Thanks for watching and we appreciate your comment 😎👍
Pronounced the same as air we breathe 😂 good video never been on electric brae and I live quite close and heard the stories you both proved it's not an urban myth
We literally went to Glasgow to get a tires fitted the next day, called around all the tire companies and none of them had them in stock. MTS got us a set so that's where we go the next day.
haha been speaking German for too many years and have got used to literal pronunciations 😁 It was a lovely coastline to greet people with straight off the boat 😎
Micky outs. Just of the m8 all there another shop over in the south side of Glasgow just for future in case you’re ever back in Glasgow…. Safe ride home 🏴
Thanks for the local knowledge, it's places like this that actually help people instead of saying 'no we don't have an appointment for another 4 weeks'. Thanks!
I would take tourist there by couch. They would believe they where looking uphill till i put water on road and see go down to the side . Magic? I loved as they didx
Just a word of warning don't leave your bike unlocked in Edinburgh if you go that way. Bike theft is through the roof, At Fort William and loch carron should be able to get you a tyre.
Yeah we noticed that when we got to Ayr a second time lol 😂 I think it must have been on the GPS as a destination when I looked down -no second takes on this channel 😉
You went the wrong way to glasgow ,you should have turned right at the ice cream parlour and followed through skelmorlie ,weymss bay , Gourock ,Greenock it follows the coast line much better views
There is no wrong way on a motorcycle tour! It’s an adventure! It was already getting late and with no accommodation booked we needed to just get to Glasgow 👍
Yeah really bad, this was Douglas Park Motorrad in Glasgow. They said 4 weeks until the next available appointment and were no help whatsoever - but after saying that they did wish me a nice ride 🤣🤣
@@SeanandEmily I'd suggest the service manager needs to get a grip and employ some more staff! Folks buy into BMW because of the so-called service, they always claim to be a premium brand! So they have zero capacity to help with simple things like tyres, that's not good enough in my opinion! Cheers.
10:19 Sean "It's electric!" Me " Boogie woogie, woogie!" Ten minutes later after finding and watching the video. ruclips.net/video/1vF84LABHm0/видео.html Back to the tour!
I am far from an aggressive person but last year arriving in santander I was seconds away from smacking a guy off his bike, Within the ferry are the rudest most impatient people i’ve seen in a long long time. He literally almost knocked me and my mate off our bike which would have ended up like the bike area turning into expensive dominoes. Just a completely rude prick. On exiting he done the exact same overtakes seen here. I caught up with him after passport checks and pulled him up explaining we are all heading the same way at a pace dictated by the ferry operator etc . a few choice words were exchanged . He was about 60 and a total up himself prick. On the way back the exact same thing happened to another not terribly far from me. People pushing and pulling to get where? Pathetic really
Agree with you there! We are all going the same way and can't go any faster than the flow of traffic yet some fellow bikers have to push there way to the front which as you say causes unnecessary risk. Then even on the open road daft overtakes of people that might also be about to overtake, it's a shame when the biggest hazard to bikers is other bikers!
Guy's life dies not stop above Glasgow there are hundreds of tyre places above Glasgow might not be on facebook some times you need to just ask common thing in Scotland
Well we were happy to get this done in Glasgow as the route we took we barley saw any petrol stations let alone motorcycle tire companies that would stock tires for this bike. There weren't many miles left in these tires and we don't have time to wait around. So George as a local were would you suggest we can get a 120/70 R19 and 170/60 R17 along the west coast north of Fort William? -this information could be useful to others.

The island you saw was in fact Ailsa Craig basically an uninhabited Rock from which 70% of granite curling stones are made from.

That first wee town with the “shipping yard” is my home town, you’ll see with a few of my videos. Hope you enjoyed my local roads
Thanks for the info! 😎👍
There are a few "hills" like that in Ireland too, where the optical illusion gets you.
Yeah apparently we missed them, shame as they are great! 😎
Pronounced the same as air we breathe 😂 good video never been on electric brae and I live quite close and heard the stories you both proved it's not an urban myth
Okay
Brilliant 👏
Thanks! looking forwards to sharing our footage of Scotland - it was spectacular! 😊
Im waiting to see you pass by where i live but alas no you went over the hill from Largs to Glasgow
Yeah it was getting late and we had to be go to Glasgow to get tires. Was nice to visit the home town of my Dad 😎
Not sure how you missed all the tyre places in Glasgow and Strathearn Tyres in Crieff - really well known.
We literally went to Glasgow to get a tires fitted the next day, called around all the tire companies and none of them had them in stock. MTS got us a set so that's where we go the next day.
Ayr is pronounced air. Its a lovely town.
Okay thanks, it sure is 👍
Love the pronunciation of ‘Ayr’ it’s pronounced ‘Air’🤣. That’s a lovely coast road but normally a bit less busy with bikes and other traffic.
haha been speaking German for too many years and have got used to literal pronunciations 😁
It was a lovely coastline to greet people with straight off the boat 😎
First town you went through after coming if boat is called Girvan
yeah got them mixed up, must have been the destination not the actual location. Hope you enjoyed the video 👍
Thanks!
@@SeanandEmily your welcome 🏴
Micky Oats closed at the start of the year.
I would take tourist there by couch. They would believe they where looking uphill till i put water on road and see go down to the side . Magic? I loved as they didx
Hi Brian, it really caught us out! When we turned the bike off there's no way we thought it would keep going lol 🤣 loved it!!
Thanks for watching 😎👍
Amazing
Thanks! Scotland is spectacular! 😊👍
A new country, a separate country, please explore Thank you
It's been a long time coming but so happy to finally be able to see Scotland and with great weather too! Looking forwards to showcasing Scotland 😎👍
Ailsa Craig is the wee island in the mist .
Thanks for the Info 😊
Paddy's milestone, halfway between Glasgow and Belfast.
Ah yeah Ailsa Craig island 👍
I’m watching this from Largs
That's cool! We really liked Largs, a great town situated on the coast like that is lovely!
Just a word of warning don't leave your bike unlocked in Edinburgh if you go that way. Bike theft is through the roof, At Fort William and loch carron should be able to get you a tyre.
Thanks for the heads up, actually a bit shocked how many people have warned us of that! 😮
How do they get them out through the roof?🤔
@@roadwarrior8560 clearly you have not had your Weetabix
@@banofeepie 😃😃
Smoked few spliffs electric brae
Lol you must remember lots of Electric Braes then 😉
The first wee town is Girvan not Ayr
Yeah we noticed that when we got to Ayr a second time lol 😂 I think it must have been on the GPS as a destination when I looked down -no second takes on this channel 😉
Great video. Ayr is pronounced Air
Thanks, yes we have been informed countless times 😉
The first town you went through is Girvan, not Ayr.
Yes clearly a mistake
👍👍👍 🏍️
Thanks for watching 😎👍
You went the wrong way to glasgow ,you should have turned right at the ice cream parlour and followed through skelmorlie ,weymss bay , Gourock ,Greenock it follows the coast line much better views
There is no wrong way on a motorcycle tour! It’s an adventure! It was already getting late and with no accommodation booked we needed to just get to Glasgow 👍
Don’t forget to try deep fried mars bars
Still trying to forget the last one we had 😂
BMW 4weeks to fit some new tyres is shocking 😮😮😮
Yeah really bad, this was Douglas Park Motorrad in Glasgow. They said 4 weeks until the next available appointment and were no help whatsoever - but after saying that they did wish me a nice ride 🤣🤣
@@SeanandEmily I'd suggest the service manager needs to get a grip and employ some more staff! Folks buy into BMW because of the so-called service, they always claim to be a premium brand! So they have zero capacity to help with simple things like tyres, that's not good enough in my opinion! Cheers.
Totally agree! Selling an adventure lifestyle and not being able to help someone in need was disappointing. One in Inverness doesn’t even do tires lol
Hello👍
😎👍🏻
I’m a driving instructor in Liverpool ,I have pupils who think there are electric braes everywhere 🙄
😂 You should make a car share style channel! It would be brilliant!!
Ayr, pronounced Air 👌🏻🏴
Okay
Ayr is pronounced Air!! Alloway / Ayr is Birthplace of Rabbie Burns
👍🏻
Ayr, pronounced Air... but roll the R 😉
Thanks, not sure the next time I will be needing this 😆 ...but hopefully not too long 👍
air is the English transition
Okay
The electric brae is currently switched off due to council cut backs. Lol
😂😂😂 Top comment medal goes to you!🥇
Not the Sea of the Hebrides, thats the Irish Sea, and the town is Girvan, and the correct pronucaition of AYR is Air. simples
Okay Jim
@5:02 It's pronounced like "Air"
Okay
ayr sounds like air
Okay
Sean & Emily. Ayr is pronounced AIR
Yes we have been informed 😄
A Y R, it's pronounced (AIR)
Okay
Hang on.... If someone has told you about the Electric Brae - they have said "it's north of Ayr (Pronounced Air)".
Most definitely south of ayr
Why would they have said that?
What's your favourite place that you have travelled to?
That's a difficult question! 😉 Recently Norway and Scotland have been amazing trips - to be able to get away in nature is something we really enjoy.
10:19 Sean "It's electric!"
Me " Boogie woogie, woogie!"
Ten minutes later after finding and watching the video.
ruclips.net/video/1vF84LABHm0/видео.html
Back to the tour!
hahah Now that song is going to be in our heads all day!! Thanks for that lol 🤣.... Boogie woogie
@@SeanandEmily my apologies for the dated American pop culture reference. Merry Christmas!
Ayr, pronounced Air
yep
@@SeanandEmily yes that’s certain, I am away to head to spain in two days and that being honest is the only bit i’m dreading .
Should be okay, find people are more relaxed in places they don't know. Have a great trip! 😎👍
It’s pronounced Air
👍🏻
Guy's life dies not stop above Glasgow there are hundreds of tyre places above Glasgow might not be on facebook some times you need to just ask common thing in Scotland
Well we were happy to get this done in Glasgow as the route we took we barley saw any petrol stations let alone motorcycle tire companies that would stock tires for this bike. There weren't many miles left in these tires and we don't have time to wait around.
So George as a local were would you suggest we can get a 120/70 R19 and 170/60 R17 along the west coast north of Fort William? -this information could be useful to others.
Its pronounced AIR lol
Air lol ........thought it was just Air 😉
Cannae pronounce Ayr? Air. 🤦♂️
Okay no big deal
