This was a great video! Also - one of the clear benefits is that you eliminate a lot of the angular momentum, which grows by the power of 2 with angular speed - which means having less kinetic energy do dissipate when braking.
Great job on the videos, loved the information even though I know what I need to know, it was just fun to watch this and that's what makes the best car content!
lightweight wheels overall will increase your gas mileage, I went from 45 lbs stock wheels to aftermarket 40 lbs total weight, my gas mileage went from 39 mg to 45 mpg.
Looking to drop weight on my ram. The factory rims are 20” and the tire is 33” I wonder if I can find a lightweight replacement for a the wheel and tire but still have 33” of tire. Stock combo is about 72lbs each
Got my set of matt black 17"x8" 5x114.3 ET35 Storm S1 rims in Thailand for my Subaru Forester SK, they are very good-looking rims. Once I hit a large pothole that caused a loud sound at my front right suspension, I thought that rim must be dented but turned out it is still perfectly round (checked by wheel balancer machine.)
light weight rims increase the energy transfer to the car during bumps compared to heavy rims that require more energy to stun the car, thus heavier rims could be more comfortable i guess? unsprung weight is when u didn't give burden to the spring , sprung weight is when u put the car on ground, sprung weight majority comes from the body of the car. of course lighter rims makes the engine drive the car easier compared to heavier rims....
Hey Jeff Im still struggling with chinese tyres like Linglong ,Sailwin etc. They never balance up well! Only one that is cheap and good and balance up well is Goodrides. Im talking 20 inch and 22 inch. I always end up with Korean Kumho when I give up lol. Are they still struggling with balancing issues the chinese tyres worldwide?
you wont get the same material, same weight, same durability and performance as the orginal .. look at Enkei RPF1 (japan) original vs replica (thailand/taiwan,china..etc). There are reasons why one is much more expensive than the other.
One of the best videos explaining wheels and advantages of lightweight wheels.

Well, I don't think a video is needed for that. Just weigh them
