This game was good but will never compare to the original one, the voice acting by grey fox was amazing in the original, you could hear the emotion in his voice especially when you landed that kick from the combo. Plus trying to get inside that energy bubble at the end of the fight was also great.
I typically find the vocal performances in Twin Snakes to be overall weaker compared to the original MGS1, but to me, Gray Fox is a very rare exception to the rule. I find that the effect on his voice in Twin Snakes is better while still retaining what makes him sound unique originally, plus I feel like the line delivery is more emphatic than before. I especially dig the extra anguish in his voice when the medicine is kicking in, it better emphasizes his involuntary suffering. It makes the original version look like it’s understating what’s going on to him.
The absolute venom in Naomi's voice when she described Gray Fox's experimentation is chilling and sad. She truly cared about Frank/Gray Fox no matter who he was. Even if Fox actually told her about what really happened to her parents, she wouldn't care about that at the very least, only him.

Gray fox was the greatest. The only man besides Liquid who could match him in CQC. He could’ve killed Snake and Ocelot multiple times but spared them. No way with that speed, hard exoskeleton suit and reflexes he’d lose to anyone but maybe a prime raiden. I did notice the metal plates on snakes gloves so that makes sense for the power to penetrate Fox’s suit but still. He defeated himself he was ready to die. He could’ve easily avoided Metal Gear and stayed alive.
I’ve played both extensively, and prefer Twin Snakes overall to the original. The original was good, but it’s not fun for me. Also the original version of the “DARPA Chief’s” heart attack scene was just hilarious due to people not really understanding that he’d not really be able to talk much. Also this game has superior accents for Mei Ling and Naomi. Mei Ling spent much of her life in the states, so her accent realistically wouldn’t be as thick as it was in the original. Plus some of the fights are more fun in Twin Snakes. Like Ocelot for example. There is an exploit in that fight where if you are in a specific part of the room and crouch he can’t hit you. But you can consistently hit him in first person view. Also I prefer the cutscenes in Twin Snakes to the original as the characters seem more human in Twin Snakes. And they line up better with the Matrix stuff in Sons of Liberty more, like Snake dodging Olga’s shot, Vamp running on water and then up a wall, and any scene bullets can’t hit Fortune. The cutscenes in Twin Snakes also make Snake seem more super human than in the original as well. But if you prefer the original one, more power to you. I’m not trying to tell you can’t like it or anything like that, but rather just giving reasons why I prefer Twin Snakes. Also Twin Snakes actually references Otacon’s ankle injury from trying to get away from the ninja, while original acts like the injury never happened. He twisted his ankle a bit, which would act a bit like a sprained ankle. That’s why he limps a lot in Twin Snakes.
While lots of comments say that the orginal is better, I personally appreciate this segment with the Ninja here. Espicially how the boss fight was handled. In the original, after depleting the Ninja's lifebar, you have to shoot him a few times while he goes on a screaming rampage. But here in Twin Snakes, the hand-to-hand portion is all that's there. I think that change was beneficial, and more-so immersive to me, because the boss fight fits more into what fight is to be about. A fight to the death, using the basis of all combat. And honestly, while I like the work of both voice actors, but I personally prefer Rob's take here. He does a fine and good job of playing as Grey Fox.

The original Ninja voice was great, but he was more alive. This version of Gray Fox's voice was too accurate, sounded cold and dry since he was technically dead before being brought back as the Cyborg Ninja.
Completely ruins the suspense and mysterious atmosphere of the original experience by showing the cyborg ninja decimating the soldiers, even though it was cool. In the original, the music stops when you enter the room before the corridor but it doesn't cut to a cinematic. You hear their screams for a second or so and then absolute silence. It's like saying "you sure wanna walk through this door?". It's up to you to find out what happened. The extremely short amount of time in which all those soldiers have apparently been slaughtered is enough to suggest the power of your foe.
George Dritsas I agree that the original was more atmospheric but the remake, I'm sorry dude the remake is way scarrier. This made me shit bricks when I was a kid.

Old-school action games from the 2000s, for example, during a battle against a boss, there was only one hit fight, and then we had to keep repeating over and over the same single sequence of attacks on the bosses as always to be able to kill them. . Well, I believe that as video games have evolved, I believe that today, in the future, new remakes of these classic games will now be possible for us to execute various types of different fighting movements to beat bosses in a more realistic, humane and varied way, rather than robotic and limited ones.

"Hey.... You're, that ninja"
1:00 should have been how Raiden deflected bullets while ninja running in MGR.
It's still possible tk beat Gray Fox with fists still at that last part. You just have to know the timing cause it's super risky.
@@richardray6258Wait? It was possible to use guns, I didn't have to die so many times at the very end?
If you realize without Rob Paulsen voicing Gray Fox, we won't hear him in Smash Bros. Game as the assist trophy.
Grey fox let him win lol
Yet many people actually believe Snake can defeat him lmao

That's the calmest voice I have ever heard out of someone getting agressively lifted off the ground haha

Such a pity Twin Snakes not have VR disc with playable Frankie :(
It was a waste of opportunity.

Did you seriously forget you can play as Gray Fox in Metal Gear Solid: Special Missions for the PS1?
I don't even have the playstation version anymore. besides I saw that he only had like 3 missions in the entire game
True, but at least, you had the real deal, instead of a wannabe.
Carl Wheezer voices a murderous cyborg ninja... ok
Strut too.
The original Ninja voice was great, but he was more alive. This version of Gray Fox's voice was too accurate, sounded cold and dry since he was technically dead before being brought back as the Cyborg Ninja.
This was like when i was 8 years old lol, im 30 now
I am 32
Me too. I loved the original playstation version. Did you get the pizza hut demo also? Medevil is awesome.
I'm 33
How old were you back then?
I think I was like 9 or 10 when I played this game as a kid.
Jesus Christ, and I thought playing that game at 15 years old was scary!
