I love how in MGS1, Liquid pilots a healthy and fully operational Rex but can't defeat a single man. But in MGS4 Snake has to somehow make it through with a badly damage, abandoned Rex vs a Liquid piloting a mech that was designed to counter Rex and yet liquid STILL loses. I guess part of those recessive genes is lacking the ability to pilot.

As much as I love the original voice-acting, I prefer some of Liquid's voice lines here (mainly "Instead of FOXHOUNDs, we use royal harriers" and "I'll crush you into DUST!"). His monologue preceding the fight wasn't bad either. Cam Clarke, you rule!!!
This game, even in its most dramatic moments seem so passive compared to the original because of the music. Lacks the emotion, especially when grey fox is giving his speech at the end. Glad MGS3 remake is re using same music and voice lines.
I definitely love the way gray fox dodging them bullets and how he used the sword on this version but I still love the music and the emotion in the original ps1 version.

I do like that scene with Snake holding Gray Foxs' sword before putting it into the ground. Swords are not his style as he later says to Raiden in MGS2 "I'm not a big fan of blades" before handing him Olgas sword. For all that though this scene seems fitting for Snake to pay one last mark of respect to Gray Fox.
First person view with the ability to shoot from that view made the whole game a bit easier. But still a good game. Now if only they would do a remaster of the ORIGINAL FIRST 2 METAL GEARS!!

i hate the cutscene before the battle. snake, a trained soldier, had liquid at gunpoint, watched him climb into a deadly, world ending battle tank, fired and missed him at point blank range. and his first strategy is to try to drop kick it. i love this game, but seriously?
If this wasn't a video game but a tv show, the length of the rex fight would be 4 episodes total. Would love to see someone high enough to animate that.

Wow this fight looks so much easier on this version of the game. Beat this game just the other day and I was struggling so hard even with body armour. Those missles were taking half of my health and of course the chaffs took much longer to detonate vs the twin snakes. I finally found a way to cheese it by going back and forth between the missles range. Even doing that you only had a few seconds to fire and aim a missle in the shitty first person view lol. Edit: I played the PS1 version
The Twin Snakes version of this fight makes it MUCH easier to avoid Rex's missiles. It's almost as if you actively WANT to get tagged. On the other hand, the original version makes it near impossible to avoid them without a chaff grenade.
He still took Fox' arm with it, why would he not have it? In this version though, it relies more on the missiles than the bullets and the laser use is more rare than in the original as well
It’s weird. The voice acting for the HinD boss fight in this game sounds better than the original. Yet the Metal Gear Rex Boss fight sounded better than this.
Based on what David Hayter said, the entire voice cast was massively underpaid for rerecording their lines. He had to give up half his paycheck to bring everyone back. The voices sounds less melodramatic and like some of the cast didn't try. This is a perfect example of when most of us would've just preferred the updated mechanics of MGS2 and a fresh coat of paint. Too bad modders can't go replace all the voiceovers and music with the original MGS audio. Maybe cut some of the crazy cutscenes too since Snake isn't supposed to have super powers and Liquid isn't a tight rope actress.

I have to agree, the lighting for the fight in the original made it pretty eerie, not only that, but the sudden movements from REX was just alarming, here it walks fairly slow. I don’t get scared easily, but if i saw this behemoth charge towards me in a narrow corridor at mach 5 by simply walking, I’d be shitting mountains trying to find a safe place.

there's a few reasons why Twin Snakes is pretty easy compared to the original but the main one is.... it's MGS1 with MGS2's mechanics but the game beyond it's graphics is not really changed much to account for that, and MGS2's mechanics are a lot freaking smoother than MGS1s so things that were hard can become fairly easy.

Sahelanthropus isn't the only one that suffers this bizarre writing, look at all the bosses from Peace Walker, I can only assume that Huey liked building stupidly big robots and that the other Metal Gears (Madnar's and Otacon's) were more advanced in other aspects (at least compared to ZEKE)
Walking animations seem worse in this version. In the original the rex actually moved around. Here it just tapdances in place. Whats good here I think is you can damage individual components, perhaps deprive it of attacks. Sidenote: the gattling guns on the Rex are supposed to be A-10 warthog 30mm gatlings. The rate of fire on the PSX and this version of the game, the sounds, and the size of the physical rounds are wrong lol.
I know a lot of people dislike this game, but I have fond memories with both the GameCube and PS1 version. I prefer things from each game, but I can't hate either of them 😂😂

I'm pritty sure chaff dose not work after the ray dome is gone and you have to use flash bangs and rex is much more mobile in the ps1 version

Walking animations seem worse in this version. In the original the rex actually moved around. Here it just tapdances in place. Whats good here I think is you can damage individual components, perhaps deprive it of attacks.
Sidenote: the gattling guns on the Rex are supposed to be A-10 warthog 30mm gatlings. The rate of fire on the PSX and this version of the game, the sounds, and the size of the physical rounds are wrong lol.
I know a lot of people dislike this game, but I have fond memories with both the GameCube and PS1 version. I prefer things from each game, but I can't hate either of them 😂😂

I know it was made at a time where you couldn't make a video game as sensed as you wanted to, still it makes me laugh today to see that MG Rex is bursting out, but Liquid can take a dozen Stinger missils in the head plus Rex's implosion no problem 😂

I like Rex's "eagle screech" in the PS1 version rather than his "elephant call" in this one. Same with Gray Fox's voice.

That's so fucking weird, and no, I noticed it, too - and it is, indeed, there in the actual game. Someone messed up during development - bad - and nobody cought it.
