Metal Gear Solid Twin Snakes Metal Gear Rex Boss Battle Gamecube 4k 1080 MGS Twin Snakes
Rex is hands down one of the coolest mech designs.
“Now, you shall bare witness to the demon weapon that will drag the world down into the 21st century!" Has to be one of the most badass quotes in all of Metal Gear.
Goes unreasonably hard for a Gamecube exclusive remake
@@DerCruiseShip 05:43
I love how in MGS1, Liquid pilots a healthy and fully operational Rex but can't defeat a single man. But in MGS4 Snake has to somehow make it through with a badly damage, abandoned Rex vs a Liquid piloting a mech that was designed to counter Rex and yet liquid STILL loses.
I guess part of those recessive genes is lacking the ability to pilot.
Snake has ironclad will
You know it was Solid who had the recessive genes, not liquid
@@haydenyamarashi5522 ok
The poms never could drive
I mean he also had that robot thing from otacon to give him information to defeat ray
As much as I love the original voice-acting, I prefer some of Liquid's voice lines here (mainly "Instead of FOXHOUNDs, we use royal harriers" and "I'll crush you into DUST!"). His monologue preceding the fight wasn't bad either. Cam Clarke, you rule!!!
Also fox saying a cornered fox is more dangerous than a jackal
I definitely think Cam Clarke improved his performance on this game
Same when they replaced ("He prayed for death and it found him") with ("When death is entreated, The battle is decided")
This game, even in its most dramatic moments seem so passive compared to the original because of the music. Lacks the emotion, especially when grey fox is giving his speech at the end. Glad MGS3 remake is re using same music and voice lines.
Nice roar on Rex. He actually sounds like he's made out of metal pushed to its limits.
What's cool is gray fox was being honest about snake not aging well. Fucking foreshadowing.
He doesn’t look too good either
Graphics is better than MGS1 but i prefer the MGS1 script/dialogue, its more emotional.
The original script is flawed (cortesy of Jeremy Blaustein).
@@filipeflower you mean flawless?
@Robin Banks Translation errors. Nuff said.
100% all the way!
I'm right there with you on that one butch t. They definitely had more feeling in the Sony version vs the nintendo version
Liquid:oh you’d point a weapon at your own brother
Me:this dude liquid points a huge metal gear weapon at snake......bruh
I'm diggin' your pic.
I wonder what that HH stands for ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
He could literally shoot him & end it real quickly without having him to fight the Metal Gear Rex
He wanted answers first. At least, in this version, he tries to shoot him.
It’s anime law... never interrupt a monologue, even if there’s a flashback
@@tradne85 true dat
@@filipeflower He could of shot him at 5:12. He had everything he needed to know at that point.
@@anomaly395 How can you tell? Are you Psycho Mantis?
MGS1: Metal Gear crushes Cyborg Ninja who put up a valiant fight.
MGR: Cyborg Ninja blocks a multi-ton sword and tosses Metal Gear into the air.
Nanomachines, son.
Rules of Nature
I definitely love the way gray fox dodging them bullets and how he used the sword on this version but I still love the music and the emotion in the original ps1 version.
4:11 relatable since that's what my parents call me
Okay garbage.
Och.
Nah.
Rem is not garbage.
But if your parents say so
So many chances to shoot during tha monologue
A true Stealth Operative knows when NOT to shoot.
He need answers tho.
LOL...ya I thought the same thing. Why doesn't he just open the front of Rex's mouth and look around visually. I'm sure he has some insane 'superior' vision anyways, or hearing at least. They aren't whispering exactly haha..
And lose the chance of getting any answers considering everyone he trusted by now betrayed him. Colonel, Niaomi, Miller (kinda).
You do know this is Liquid Snake right? These two are casual bullet dodgers. They are literal super solders bred for war. One trigger from that gun would of lead to a higher aggressive response with no information being passed.
Am i the only one seeing another snake floating in mid-air at 17:12 ?
He’s playing on pc
Heck, I didn't even notice that! Thanks for pointing that out!
Lol I saw it too

Lmao
2:54 THAT FRONT FLIP
It makes me irrationally angry
That was so fucking stupid and pointless XD
@991Fate That never happened in the original cutscene.
filipeflower if I remember correctly there were theories about this game being from the perspective from otacon, like a retelling of the story except it’s otacon telling you it and making it more like his Japanese animes
what, it's so classic for villains to do extreme acrobatics while monologuing
@@averageenjoyerguy4142 That theory is not original.
They need to re release this for the switch on a GameCube virtual console.
@Hamburglar the exiled All we can do is beg for now.
emulation is godsent anyways
0:05 why tf did liquid take his shirt off?, always cracks me up 😂🤦🏿♂️
Hey if you want to pilot a Metal Gear you don't want to be uncomfortable wearing a flashy Trenchcoat.
MG-Rex: is completely trashed
Kojima: but it would be cool to kick the MG-Ray with it, so I kind of forgot it got completely trashed
"Gray Fox died with honor!"
12:10 From the moment his visor came down, Gray Fox knew how it was likely going to end. But he was going to make sure that Snake would be able to finish the job.
5:22 The demon weapon that will drag the world in to the 21st century
Liquid: You got the old man’s dominate genes! I got the flawed, recessive genes!
So basically they’re Danny Devito and Arnold Schwarzenegger from “Twins”, but Danny Devito is in great shape.
Liquid: “Whoa..hold on a second. I’m the crap?”
7:39 Can't wait to see this moment in the movie.

Rumored Metal gear remake
Rob Paulson was so badass as Gray Fox
They edited out Liquid's abs. lol Twin Snakes also made this boss battle disgustingly easier.
Pretty much all the game is WAY easier
He actually didn't, if you payed attention.
First person view with the ability to shoot from that view made the whole game a bit easier. But still a good game.
Now if only they would do a remaster of the ORIGINAL FIRST 2 METAL GEARS!!
@@ajaxjohnson7999 I'm not sure if that'll happen anytime soon.
Ajax Johnson
That is unlikely, but a nice idea
Why TF is Liquid moving around like Vamp lol
Because he has the recessive genes.
@@eduardomagana3858 Actually, it's the other way around.
i hate the cutscene before the battle. snake, a trained soldier, had liquid at gunpoint, watched him climb into a deadly, world ending battle tank, fired and missed him at point blank range. and his first strategy is to try to drop kick it. i love this game, but seriously?
At least, in this version, he tries to shoot him.
@big crunch I don't believe he was trying to kick it. More like he was trying to climb on it. But yeah, it was unnecessary.
Gray Fox: "You look terrible Snake, you haven't aged well." In MGS4 we learn that Solid Snake has accelerated aging due to telomere shortening. Gray Fox called it first!
17:11 nani? Whats going on in the background o.o
This game actually aged well
The graphics did, but-.. not so much for the voice acting in this game unfortunately.
@@jenasjordan1237Eh, agree to disagree
Little did Liquid know that he was actually the superior clone not Solid, but alas it all comes down to who was still standing
Here's a theory, Rex is Sahelanthropus. Eli in chapter 2 of mgsv was seen in Sahelanthropus, leaving outer heaven. Judging from the design of Sahelanthropus and how mgsv happened before mgs, Rex must be Sahelanthropus. Kojima wouldn't of made their designs so similar is sahelanthropus wasn't Rex.
Nope. It's implied somewhere (not in MGS1, probably somewhere in TPP) that Otacon's design for REX is based on his buried memories of Huey using him as a test-pilot for Sahelanthropus. REX and Sahelanthropus are completely different.
In the cut final of TPP Sahelanthropus got destroyed by Venom Snake and Diamond Dogs, literally split in half
What disappointed me was that in this remake, Rex doesn't have a penis that shoots a lazer at you.
Yes it does.
Yes it does you just have to be very close
He still took Fox' arm with it, why would he not have it? In this version though, it relies more on the missiles than the bullets and the laser use is more rare than in the original as well
Only reason the gray fox dialogue appears more “emotional” in the ps1 version is because of the background music being used.
Everything is so much more dramatic and flamboyant.
Can't blame Snake for not wanting to shoot.
Am I the only one that feels like I'm watching Team America? lol all the flailing of Liquid.
the color, depth and shadow grading in the OG ps1 version IMO is better than this version. specially Rex
I have to agree, the lighting for the fight in the original made it pretty eerie, not only that, but the sudden movements from REX was just alarming, here it walks fairly slow. I don’t get scared easily, but if i saw this behemoth charge towards me in a narrow corridor at mach 5 by simply walking, I’d be shitting mountains trying to find a safe place.
wow, he is so much easier on twin snakes than on original
If this wasn't a video game but a tv show, the length of the rex fight would be 4 episodes total. Would love to see someone high enough to animate that.
I do like that scene with Snake holding Gray Foxs' sword before putting it into the ground. Swords are not his style as he later says to Raiden in MGS2 "I'm not a big fan of blades" before handing him Olgas sword. For all that though this scene seems fitting for Snake to pay one last mark of respect to Gray Fox.
I have no idea why hut gray fox death is for some reason the most disturbing and unsettling deaths in the mgs franchise to me
No one:
Nobody at all:
Liquid: **PARKOUR**
i had to go mid cutscene when gray fox started fighting metal gear rex and when i came back it was snake picking up the katana lol had to watch what happened to him
The moment you realise Leonardo kills Raphael.
I like Rex's "eagle screech" in the PS1 version rather than his "elephant call" in this one. Same with Gray Fox's voice.
*The only things sad about this are that Snake didn't even try to save Fox and no one deserves to get crushed by a giant upright walking bipedal war-machine not even bugs!*
The explosion would have killed him. Snake wouldn't willfully kill a comrade.
@@gninja92 Better he killing them both that Fox dying a dog's death.
@@Kopie0830 What're you guys talking about? In The Twin Snakes, Solid does try to save Gray Fox. Needless to say, Liquid stopped him.
@@filipeflowerwhen fox fell to the ground, snake should have been shooting and protecting his bro, he was just standing there standing like an idiot
@@Kopie0830 Well, that wouldn't work in either version.
the Graphic is godlike for this game, but the Music from the Original PSX game is much better
This game lacks the grittiness and charm of the original. Im glad the MGS3 remake is reusing the same voices and music.
find it bizarre that snake just stands there, has his gun pointed at liquid, can fire at anytime, listens to his whole monologue, and literally waits till he entires the cockpit of the nuclear warhead machine to finally fire his gun.
JESUS Christ what is that music as Rex rises?!!!
Dunno but it builds up the tense with an unnamed level :O
Did snake just kicked a metal gear?
He was trying to climb onto it, Liquid was having none of it.
He fought a tank using only grenades before, what you would expect next?
@midniteryder Oh yeah. Heck it put it on even footing with Ray despite it being an Anti-Rex.

Snake jumping on the Hind missiles, Liquid doing flips on the railing while monologuing, Snake trying to fly kick Metal Gear Rex...I know this saga can be crazy and over the top sometimes but this is too much...
How is this different from the other Solid games?
@@filipeflower Exactly.
"Due to the nature of their conception and development, the Les Enfants Terribles children possess enhanced abilities and durability, surviving and withstanding physical and mental situations that would easily kill a normal human."
Snake is supposed to do stuff like this
Also explains why Liquid can survive several stinger missiles to the face too.
In peace walker Big boss can carry a mech leg without much trouble. Don't SEE fans complqining.
5:25 - 7:00 is pure epicness.
So true - so intense
It’s weird. The voice acting for the HinD boss fight in this game sounds better than the original. Yet the Metal Gear Rex Boss fight sounded better than this.
Better in some areas, worse in others.
This dialogue is dead compared to the original. Said it so many times.. never gets any better
Based on what David Hayter said, the entire voice cast was massively underpaid for rerecording their lines. He had to give up half his paycheck to bring everyone back. The voices sounds less melodramatic and like some of the cast didn't try. This is a perfect example of when most of us would've just preferred the updated mechanics of MGS2 and a fresh coat of paint. Too bad modders can't go replace all the voiceovers and music with the original MGS audio. Maybe cut some of the crazy cutscenes too since Snake isn't supposed to have super powers and Liquid isn't a tight rope actress.
@@mph8er But they are clones of Big Boss...right?
@@filipeflower Yes, but I don't know if I remember Big Boss dodging a tank round, leaping 10 feet into the air or doing flips while balancing on a railing.

My boi Eren
7:55 Sorry but the Rex Sound were in PS1 MGS better :(
Why the fvck is this boss too easy to beat here???
I thought it was quite hard on PlayStation back then
It does feel more difficult on PSX than in the Twin Snakes remake for some reason.
I'm pritty sure chaff dose not work after the ray dome is gone and you have to use flash bangs and rex is much more mobile in the ps1 version
there's a few reasons why Twin Snakes is pretty easy compared to the original but the main one is.... it's MGS1 with MGS2's mechanics but the game beyond it's graphics is not really changed much to account for that, and MGS2's mechanics are a lot freaking smoother than MGS1s so things that were hard can become fairly easy.
@@thewalrus45 well most of the advantages that come with MGS2 mechanics shouldn't apply here though
@@thewalrus45 There's something called Extreme mode.
Wow this fight looks so much easier on this version of the game. Beat this game just the other day and I was struggling so hard even with body armour. Those missles were taking half of my health and of course the chaffs took much longer to detonate vs the twin snakes. I finally found a way to cheese it by going back and forth between the missles range. Even doing that you only had a few seconds to fire and aim a missle in the shitty first person view lol.
Edit: I played the PS1 version
The Twin Snakes version of this fight makes it MUCH easier to avoid Rex's missiles. It's almost as if you actively WANT to get tagged.
On the other hand, the original version makes it near impossible to avoid them without a chaff grenade.
If people are going to shit on the twin snakes, at least do it without being bias towards the ps1 version.

Can’t believe that this is supposed to be the “upgrade” to sahaelontropus but then again the first was telekinetically powered and moved so it kinda doesn’t count
Someone mentioned that hal built rex with remnants of his memory from being used to test sahaelanthropis as a child so it makes sense it would be way more inferior.
@@canevas1017nah bro, sehelanthropus couldn't even work properly without psycho mantis puppeting it around.

Sahelanthropus isn't the only one that suffers this bizarre writing, look at all the bosses from Peace Walker, I can only assume that Huey liked building stupidly big robots and that the other Metal Gears (Madnar's and Otacon's) were more advanced in other aspects (at least compared to ZEKE)
