Hi there, just a couple of quick questions, is the Cobra burnisher easy to work with? Thinking of buying one. I was thinking, because the sander is a small diameter, is it easy to oversand and get dips in the straight edge? We all think your great by the way!
This is a great video but I was trying to find out the terminology to describe beveling the corners of leather. Meaning there's a way to machine taper them so you can fold it over and create a scene. Not sure if I'm using the right terminology here but was wondering if you have a video on that? I thought about just getting my belt sander and sanding the underside of the leather 1/2 inch down to about 1/16 thick. Is this the right way to do it? Peace

I think you answered it towards the end. To be clear... Bevel both sides even if it's just a single layer of leather?
Great video as always, but would have liked a little more explaining / show and tell. You pulled out (3) bevelers wanted to see the difference between them. Looks like you also burnished (what tools) and applied edge paint (what brand), that would have been informative to cover, then final shot of the finished pieces. Thanks for sharing!

I'd use bigger bevelers for heavier weight leather. Like heavy duty belts or tack. Can you order from Amazon? amzn.to/2VuHMe7
Why do you use the wooden holder while burnishing?
So are you not supposed to bevel BEFORE you glue your pieces together???
Hi random question, is it better to dye the leather before or after beveling? Should you do it all at once just before beveling, everything but the edges and then dye the edges after beveling? Thanks!
Student to student: Take small pieces of scrap leather and experiment. Whatever result you approve of then go with it!!. Different thickness of leather will have different results. With my book cover projects I tool and dye the cover & pockets 1st. (I make pockets a little longer to hang out the bottom of cover to trim after lacing). With cover and pockets dyed I then apply satin sheen clear coat on Grain sides then put Hide restorer on flesh sides for overnight drying. Come lace time I finish up by trimming the pockets to fit the cover edge. NOW I find good results to re-dye the newly cut edges with a Q tip carefully ROLLING it over the edge.

I would give you a like but then 420 likes will become 421 and I don't want that.
Dying edges is almost as bad as using antique paste. Well as far as the mess goes.
Can use Q tips and carefully ROLL the tip along the edge. Take your time. Only use the front half of the tip for more control.
