Beautiful work!! Love Weber family. Used to surf for them when I was little in san clemente. I still have all my old boards, performer, pig, stylist. How much would it cost to restore a 6' board ?
How did you adhere the old glass to the q cell? Did you shape the q cell down to flush and then add another layer of resin+qcell before clamping? Or was it just resin? 3:15
there is a date code that is shown in the video in pencil on next to the stringer JOJO PERRIN the original shaper mentioned in the video was 14 in 1964 and supposedly did not strart shaping surfboards until 1970? the image in pencil on the foam next to the stringer is not clear but suggests the date code to be 9-83 the five digit number before the date code suggest the model code or the 26644th surfboard shaped by the individual who signed it.
That’s lots of work very interesting when I was a kid growing up in westchester next to lax I had a 9.6 foot Dewey Weber surfboard it was huge wasn’t very good at surfing but sure had lots of fun..those were the days…

Because it’s a restoration, you want to preserve as much of the original material used back in the 60’s otherwise is a new board, and the value decreases.
I own a Dave Sweet longboard made in 1958. He and Hobie were the first to experiment with foam and my 58 is foam. But it’s still about 40 lbs. so foam was around in the 60’s, but not likely fin boxes nor the through the board leash plug. I agree with Surfer Dudes earlier comment it’s most likely an 80’s board, even late 1980’s.

Its an 80s board. Legrope pull through plug, fin box and cockered blank
If you mix qcell with lam resin, wouldn’t the surface be too sticky to sand?

Why not just remove all of the fiberglass and cut out the emblem of the maker of the board clean that up and then reglass over that?
Not enough skill. Obvious rooky.

Don't think boards in the 60s had leash plugs. That board is more like 1990s era
Which fillers do you have?
60's? I'd say 90's based on the thickness of glass and serial number.
Where you located. Downey California.
Love this well done!
Believe in yourself, and you will succeed😎
I don't think you can do more to restore a board. Great skills!

In the 60s. Yes. This board is more likely shaped in the early 80s.
