I have the same issue except mine has lunched two gates tensioners/belts in under 200 miles. Currently have a genuine Ford kit fitted (££££) and still have the issue of bouncing tensioner and the groaning/grumbling noise which gets even worse when the AC is put on. Also had new alternator and crank shaft pulley. I have uploaded a short video to RUclips showing my cars issue. Ive heard its a common problem with these but mine even has Ford mechanics puzzled.
That’s crazy! Yeh it’s definitely an issue, I’ve heard of people putting jaguar ones on? I don’t see how they’d be any different though.
Shame really as it’s a lovely car and a good engine but it’s costing a bomb. Have had four petrol mondeos in the past, no issues. Wish me luck haha
My one is still squeaking so if you come to a solution, please do share! Good luck fella
Turns out my tensioner was not fitted correctly. There is locating holes and the mechanic hadn’t located them causing the tensioner to bounce. Been to Ford specialist, all fixed with genuine tensioner. Also, tension in genuine spring is greater than gates which I why they wear out quicker.
That’s good to know. Thanks dude. I will keep looking for a genuine one but spending so much on a £400 car seems pointless.
