I had the 110cc 8hp motor in a scooter model with the 4 speed. Did a 1000mile backroad hotel trip around Europe on it, so much fun ! Went through the Black Forest, Eiffel, Vosges and Ardennes mountains, beautiful trip.

Interesting comparison between the Monkey and the CT125 offroad. I love the practical sturdy rack on the Trail and the fact that the air intake and exhaust are designed for river crossings BUT not having a clutch is a deal breaker for a vehicle with off road pretentions.

Just got back from a 10,000km trip up to northern BC, the Yukon and Alaska on my NC750X. I made it up to the Arctic Circle on the Dalton where I met a Swiss couple on Honda Groms! They had them shipped to Halifax, rode them across Canada and up to the 49th state. They were then planning to continue onto the lower 48😃

    • @DifferentSpokesTV
      @DifferentSpokesTV  Год назад +1

That’s awesome! Sounds like you had a great trip and seeing two Groms up there would have been quite something. I don’t know if I’d want to ride the Dalton on a Mini-Moto with all those logging trucks flying on there.

@@DifferentSpokesTV yeah I had a great trip, met some cool people, and did a big loop and tried to ride the same road twice as little as possible😃. The Swiss couple told me they had planned on riding to Prudhoe Bay, but after a couple days trying to wait out heavy rain on the Dalton I guess they decided the AC would be far enough. Weather plays such a big part of the equation on those remote and rugged roads

I’m close to 66, had a 2021 CRF300L and with a 30” inseam and vertigo never really felt comfortable or safe. At least three times coming to a stop, the front would collapse then recoil triggering the vertigo, lifting my shorter legs off the ground my balance would take a hike and with the bike being about 350lbs and top heavy, down I would go!
    So I sold it.
Wanted the Trail 125…🇨🇦🤣… so I bought a 2023 Grom!
I LOVE IT! The mrs has a Ruckus and now with having the Grom we can both cruise around on and off road, that being FSRoads, campgrounds and the like.
My Grom I’ve put on T-RexRacing engine guards and skid plate, GPKomposit windshield AND deflector…which I had on the 300L, LED driving lights, DoubleTake mirrors, and made my own rack for the back that holds anything I can put on it…in style!
I am constantly getting thumbs up and huge smiles wherever I go.
This bike is nice and light. I can push it ANYWHERE and literally mount it like a bicycle!
We load them both into our 6x10 trailer which is set up to quickly unload and roll out a full sized queen bed mattress!
    The Grom is absolutely perfect!👍🍺🇨🇦
    Oh…milage?
    1.5L/100km!

Also trails slower than Cub is partially aerodynamic issue. People underestimate what cub fairing do to help improve aero and fuel efficiency. Cub-like bikes regularly strikes 70-80 km/liter. Trail doesn't have the fairings for understandable reason.

I am actually looking at the XR150L. Wife and I ride Harley Softails. I also have a KTM 450EXC, which I really don't ride any way near how it should be. As older and experienced riders with many miles under our belt, a small trail bike seems like the perfect bikes to add to the stable. I also have a C70 and XR100, both are just as fun as my Harley, but in a different way. Seems the small bikes have two audiences, the beginner and the well seasoned. Both for the same reason, cheap and easy to ride.

Electric motorcycles keep improving. For commuting and other utilitarian use at home charging is the best option. But for longer rides the design of most charging stations don't take riders into consideration. Most are fully exposed to weather. Most lack a convenient place for a rider to sit out of the weather while charging. This isn't an issue for electric cars. But it is for electric motorcycles.
Electric motorcycles are improving quickly. We need to see improvement in charging stations design. Currently they are designed for electric cars. Electric motorcycles and electric vehicles towing trailers have not been considered in the design of charging stations. This needs to change.
