I think with the knowledge of the current community surrounding BoneLab, I think BoneLab wasn't only meant to be seen as what the potential future of SLZ games could be, but also as a tool for other people to use for themselves. Considering the progress mods have made with an extended SDK, I'd say BoneLab was doing pretty well, if it wasn't for the fact that the capabilities of the extended SDK wasn't made by SLZ. Since the base SDK was made up of practically levels and avatars, not even weapons have been implemented as of now. And only recently has SLZ been more transparent about progress on updates, like how they wanted to keep updates held until they seemed substantial enough so they don't have to break mods every update, though it doesn't rectify that the last proper SDK update was over a year ago now when they said the game would have 2 years of support. So as of now, the community is waiting on the next patch to see what they have been working on for the past year, and how it could make things easier with more official means of modding. Thought I could try to give a few more points considering what has been happening with the game and the community.
Speaking as someone who doesn’t have the best pc but does own a meta quest I can tell you the painful mess that is mods on that thing is the reason why my quest has sat gathering dust. Anyway rant aside fantastic video hope to see more :)
yeah I don't trust the devs, especially how this shows where their focus and attitude is along with corridor digital. They've fallen off and are more focused on exploring tech without much other motive than just to jump on new things and monetize them. Do other developers want to do this as well? oh of course. but they'll at least build teams that will pursue it in ways that make it more palatable. They don't really have much concern for art direction, story, ethics or anything seemingly other than glorified tech demos.
