Nice grab. This is the line I used to live on. Great to see it like this. Sad to hear this engineer moved on, he sounds like a really cool railroad guy.
I lived in Hyde Park from 1975 to 2012 - there used to be four tracks, with track 4 being the furthest to the left. When they rebuilt the line from 1979 to 1987, this track was removed and the rebuilt platform was made out of Track 4. The current Track 4 and 5 is now considered the Needham Line - Track 5 is the single track between Roslindale Village and Needham Heights (with two side tracks outside of West Roxbury and Needham Heights) and Track 4 is the inbound track towards Forest Hills and also the side tracks outside of West Roxbury and Needham Heights stations, usually used to let other trains go by. Before 1979, the trains ran on an embankment between just outside of Forest Hills to around Northeastern University, and descended through a trench until it reached old Back Bay. The Orange Line operates in the embankment that ran the commuter rail trains; right around Roxbury Crossing you can see part of the old embankment.
I love how "Ham and Eggs" mentioned how you couldn't get parking at Forest Hills and said it's usually the reason why railfans stay away from that station. Me and my friend managed to find one at that station in March. We had a great time railfanning there. A lot of great action!
Thanks for another ride along and the comments you and the engineer provided describing the line, stations and other trains. It is great to see the view from the front window where we usually don’t get to see.
The new 88 double deck cars are replacing the all the older commuter rail cars from South Station and North Station there is talks on adding more cars to the order due to the new commuter rail lines coming from South Station to New Bedford and Fall Rivers opening this year
Nice while on the way to Boston you saw the new Acela Express, do you know when it will be testing on the East Coast side between Washington and NY, cuz I looked for it and never got to film it before:(
wow they don't even have to wear boots? It seems like engineers for MN, LIRR and Amtrak are required to. I like how locomotive engineers here in the states aren't required to wear uniforms. I remember seeing a LIRR engineer in a biker jacket and jeans as if he was going to a bike club meet after his shift lol
I think at one point they had an late night express trip from Sto-Bos making only Back bay inbetween. Was a bit before the days of Ruggles Platform on Track 2.
Howdy….! Watching the video and I am about 15 minutes and between 35 and 50 seconds… you mentioned that “good speed can be had up around New Haven” I could be mistaken, but is this not where your turbo train broke the record, which it still holds that record today….we had the turbo up here, travelling between Toronto and Montreal….
They named Kellys Interlocking after the nearby liquor store lol 🤣
This is like my Netflix! Keep up the great work!

I take the train everywhere so it doesn't really matter to me
also you can park at green street or stony brook then walk or take the orange line 😎

"Kellys" for the Kelly"s Liquor store on Hyde Park Avenue. The original station that was there was Clarendon Hills.
That was a fun ride. These are very personable videos. Hope Ham and Eggs is doing well wherever he is now! And sweet surprise indeed at 128!
One of your best videos. Real personal touch to it, thanks
19:57 That was a close call.
Fun to "ride along" with you and a friendly engineer.
This is one of my favorite routes in TSW
Nice catch nice engineer godbless to bad he move on
Nice. informative to us who ride this.
Lot people probably get off at Back Bay to transfer to the Orange Line.
Nice RFW ride. Real speed on the Northeast Corridor section. Ham and Eggs is really informative. Thanks Tim👌💚
I’ve known Stoughton my whole life. I’ve lived in the Boston area my whole life
I sorta know conductor Chuck! I’ve seen him a few times before, cool guy!
I'm so glad you have expanded your reach! My old territory! Bravo!
26:10 is the location of the old Mount Hope station.
He gets some nice speed, once on the NEC!
excellent
loved the comments Glad you didnt get hmi in trouble. You remind me of my late great friend George Redding. Wonder if you ever knew him?
No, I didn’t know him.

For now it’s 83 additional rotems. 40 blinds and the rest control trailer coaches.
Me and a friend will be at Secaucus Junction all day on the 20th if you wanna stop by
Geesze, Stoughton Station looks so much like Framingham's "Grand Central"
I saw 2110 at Mansfield the same day lol
Love your videos
19:57 Oh deer!!!
Ayyy it got reuploaded. Watched this last time it was uploaded and was wondering why it went away.
At the time I had to remove it, but since he moved on to another railroad, I decided to put it back in.
@@3985uprr Ah I see.

Not exactly sure
The engineer is with Amtrak now
Interesting how MBTA mixes single and multi levels. NJT has always kept them separate
The mixture looks ugly.

Back Bay...yes, downtown Boston.
Darn right. South Station is the financial district of Boston, but Back Bay is the heart and center of vibrancy in Boston
Nice video. If you could do more RFW videos that would be great
Where does the term ham and eggs engineer come from?
That engineer loves to eat them!!
Is MBTA Commuter Train 884 an express from Stoughton to Boston South Station?
It makes the typical stops the Stoughton trains make
I think at one point they had an late night express trip from Sto-Bos making only Back bay inbetween. Was a bit before the days of Ruggles Platform on Track 2.
I do too. That no longer exists and all stoughton line trains make local stops, except the outbound peak rush our ones that don’t stop at Hyde park.
How do I even go about doing this myself?
You need a cooperative engineer, so you can standby the doorway. I just asked.
@@3985uprr good to know. I usually get clips at the Pawtucket/Central Falls train station. Was just there a few hrs ago.
What happened to the ham and eggs engineer
He’s working for another railroad somewhere
Left the T, i think for amtrak but not entirely sure
@@MbtaVideoClipsvery possible
@@MbtaVideoClips Amtrak. I was on his last train, he told me after subbing that he was going to go to amtrak to be closer to home.
@@reallifechronicles1707 yeah i remember seeing your post
Amazing how many rules are broken in this video.
Were there?
Davis Larry Robinson Steven Lee Amy
That name George B. travels far.
