We bought our home just renovated and we wanna turn the outside looking great too to bring it all together. The exterior is currently Beige which I would love to change to a gray or light blue but the roof shingles are reddish brown. Can I paint them gray or black? And do you recommend a certain color because we do live in Florida so it gets hot so I wasn’t sure if black was a bad idea? I really appreciate any advice. TY
Hello , the color is the one you guy's agree and like . we picked the black slate for our house and we also live in Florida and we didn't notice any difference in our house temperature because our house is Heavenly insulated but I would definitely change the color to the gray or lightblue like you said it will turn your Dream into reality. Was there any problems with flashing? Could you see stripes from the sprayer? I thought about getting a wand with a big tip on the sprayer but maybe it’s better to use the bed liner sprayer? Originally I was going to paint each shingle with a brush
I started rolling my roof, takes a very long time and I was lucky to get 120 ft/gallon. I quickly decided to break out the sprayer. Getting better footage now, but haven't figured it out yet. Good luck with your project 👍🏼

Hey buddy , I used a Titan Airless paint sprayer but there are different ones that you can use just find one that you are happy with God bless be Safe .
Shingles are water proof by definition, so no need to water proof if you have no leaks. Painting shingles will prevent shingle damage from sun and water.

Replace brittle or cracked shingles. Clean all roof surfaces. Previously coated surfaces should be wire brushed or scraped to remove all loose coating. Remove mildew with a mildew stain removing product. Prepare the surface using a concrete & masonry cleaner & etcher. If applying on wood shakes, clean with a product such as BEHR PREMIUM NO. 63 All-In-One Wood Cleaner. Follow directions on product labels. Rinse thoroughly and allow a minimum of 24 hours to dry. Prime all metal, asphalt and wood surfaces with a product such as BEHR PREMIUM PLUS® NO. 436 Exterior Multi-Surface Primer & Sealer. Follow directions on product label.

I have a flat roof on my garage and I use Flex Seal at a whopping $100 a gallon and I get a year out of it. How long does that stuff last for?

Use the ole' wood handle paint brush for 1,000 SF/gal
I know is paint, but paint also seals against water, and it would seal even more if the finish wasn't flat.

I looked into it. It's water based. In my opinion water based stuff won't last long especially on floors and roof. Why not use oil based?
