    I just finished turning an ok mix into an AWESOME sounding mix by placing this plugin in strategic places . This is the real deal

    2 years late, but Waves v12 FINALLY gave us the ability to resize all their plugins. Thankfully, I was covered for an upgrade since I upgraded my entire platform last December.

      Definitely worth it if you can upgrade without paying to renew your WUP.

    Regarding the insert feature: Many people may have noticed that they don't see their full Waves plugin library options displayed when clicking the plus (+) sign. Myself included. I went to the Waves Central Easy Installer and updated the available plugins. When I later opened the channel strip insert feature, all my Waves plugins were there to select.

    Nice overview. I am really liking this plugin A LOT. Since the demise of SONAR I have moved to Studio One and I was kind of missing the ProChannel of SONAR.... kind of a "one-stop-shop" for most of your plugin needs. This has filled that hole for me. Like in ProChannel, I can rearrange the order of the effects and insert other effects into the chain. Another thing this gives me that SONAR had and S1 does not was an input trim control and the VU meters built-in to boot! Makes gain-staging much easier!
    The "focus" really is a nice learning tool as well. Great feature. That together with the presets makes "getting there" much faster and simpler.

      Hey MakerDP, thanks for watching! I agree, this can really speed up your workflow. FYI - the last Studio One update included the option to use SONAR keyboard shortcuts. It might make the transition that much easier.

    • @0dtp1
      @0dtp1 6 лет назад

      Nope... making a clean break. SONAR is dead to me now that I've made the switch. It's S1 all the way for me moving forward so any keyboard commands I use will be S1's... and the Faderport 8 makes the switch even easier!

    Thanks for sharing this video. Recently purchased this channel strip but have not got to grips with it yet, almost ready to start using it. Your video was really helpful, explained quite a bit and gave me a decent understanding og this plugin! Not useda full channel strip before so thanks once again..... Best Regards

    Very nice review. I was a put off by the differing audio levels between the bypassed, treated and voice over. Had to ride the volume for some of the quiet bits. Pops were also very loud.

    Hi Green Light Sound :) Great review.
    A de-esser operates differently from a multi-band compressor. A multi-band compressor divides the whole sound spectrum with very steep filters into multible frequency bands and every band is independently processed.
    The Omni de-sser however has 2 separately adjustable TRIGGERS which fire a single compressor. So you can set 2 frequencies which fire the compressor, but the whole sound is compressed/ducked.

    • @GreenLightSound
      @GreenLightSound  6 лет назад +1

      Thanks for watching Schilliebillie!
      Actually, the Omni de-esser is more like a two band active EQ with four filter types. It doesn't duck the whole signal, just the frequencies you select along with the filter type you select. Test it out for yourself with a tone generator and a spectrum analyzer.
      A standard de-esser in split-band mode works a lot like a multi-band compressor compressing only the high frequencies. But you're right, in wide-band mode, many de-essers duck the entire signal triggered by the internal side chain, which is very different than a multi-band compressor. Also, some multi-band compressors have adjustable filters between the bands to avoid the very steep cutoff between frequency bands. For example, FabFilter's Pro MB has adjustable slopes from 6 dB/octave to 48 dB/octave.

      It's rather a dynamic eq

    Just bought this thing, exited to go use it, planning on throwing the CLA Vocals plugin in there.

    • @GreenLightSound
      @GreenLightSound  6 лет назад +1

      This plus the CLA vocals for reverb, delay, and pitch FX should be able to get you a nice vocal sound. Thanks for watching!

    Cool. Pretty sure the highlighted knobs are supposed to be changed to best fit the source material.

      Right - good point. They tell you what to focus on when mixing the instrument the preset is intended for. I would adjust all of the parameters when actually mixing.

    Hi, great demo and overview. I have a very simple but strange question. I can't see any plugin bypass buttons on my instance of Omni Channel. It pretty much doesn't show the part over the Waves logo on the left. Is this toggled somehow or is that your DAW providing that interface?

    • @salvodazes
      @salvodazes 6 лет назад

      By that I mean a global plugin bypass. I know how to bypass individual modules by clicking the module name.

    • @GreenLightSound
      @GreenLightSound  6 лет назад +1

      There's no global bypass button on the Omni Channel itself. The bypass in the toolbar above the Waves logo is from Studio One. What DAW are you on?

    Hi again,
    I have a quick question if you do not mind. I have been trying to use the focus feature button, but when i use it, NOTHING IS HIGHLIGHTING!, to show me what to focus on. Have tried with different tracks, ie drums ,bass , guitars etc. In fact when i click the button, it is not like that orange colour, it actually turns BLUE???? Any ideas as to why this happens, and if so , could you explain this so i may be able to use this FOCUS feature please? Am I going wrong somewhere? Any help or advice would b most appreciated. Thank you!

    • @GreenLightSound
      @GreenLightSound  6 лет назад +1

      I think the focus button only works for Andrew Scheps' presets themselves, in the preset subfolder "Andrew Scheps." For the presets in the other folders (Billy Bush, Brad Divens, etc.) the focus button doesn't do anything. I can't replicate the button turning blue, though. It is only orange or grayed out in my plugin.

      yeah, for SSL gotta do Brainworx PA or UAD, they are at a higher league level than the Waves stuff . Way more realistic to SSL's magic.

    Big Tip: Always put reference links to the actual places where you A/B audio. In my case, I get the plug-in, I just want to hear it in use!!

      The link was later in the description, but I added another right on top for easier access.

    I did not buy this.
    It is pointless to buy the same kind of plug-in anymore because of the different design.

    • @GreenLightSound
      @GreenLightSound  6 лет назад +3

      I think the main advantage of this is the convenience and speed associated with having all the different modules together (de-essers and preamp saturation are not common on all channel strip plugs), plus the added insert slot. There's nothing groundbreaking here - just a speed and workflow improvement for some. Respect your opinion though. If you already have the tools included here, no need to buy it.
