@@lifewithrosie03 it is delicious! The 1st time I had it was last September when I visited the island and went to the restaurant Associação de Agricola. 😋
Hi Rosie ,the prices aren’t bad there it depends in how much you make the same here minimum wage here in Ontario is 16 dollars an hour but my God the rents are so expensive it varies from 1.500 hundred to over tow thousand 😢thanks for sharing ❤
Hi Lucy! Minimum wage here is 5 euros an hour. I remember coming from Canada and thinking wow, everything is so cheap here. But that's not the case when you live here. To us, it's really expensive. And rent here is usually around 70% of an average person's income. So at the end of the month, someone who earns minimum wage, gains 861 euros a month, rent is at least 500/600 euros in Ponta delgada. Rent, electric, gas and water there goes most of your money. What's left is to eat. And you can't buy anything for fun. I spend at least 400euros on food per month. And it's just Luis and I. Imagine how it is for big families... So most people don't understand how expensive it is for us. Although I totally understand that's it seems cheap for people in Canada and the states. Because everything is super expensive there 😰
@@lifewithrosie03 5 euros an hour is not enough that’s insane but we can’t go and spend 120 euros a night at a hotel in ponta delgada it’s to much for us we’re 71 years old on the government pension and it’s a lot for us plus the the car and eat I would not mind staying in Villa Franca my home town but I heard it’s around the same price if you know anybody that rents rom and bathroom even in água Dalto or around there please let me know have a wonderful afternoon enjoy our
PARABÈNS ON 1000 SUBSCRIBERS! As a Canadian, I really love the prices here. Especially eating out. Had a 3 course meal in Povoaçao today with drinks for 52 Euros 🤯. I know its more pricier for ppl here though. I love these grocery hauls Rosie❤
Hi! Thank you!!!! Yes I now 52 euros seems low to people who live out in North America. But to us, it's really expensive 🥺 thank you! I hope you are enjoying your stay here! What did you have to eat at the restaurant? Anything yummy?
@lifewithrosie03 bacalhau grilhado com salada, batatas fritas e Arroz. Grilled codfish, salad, fries and rice mmm. I forgot to mention that was for 2 people
Rosie, I envy you being able to buy Morcela at the local grocery. Was there a Portuguese butcher where you able to find it in Oakville? Here in Durham, East of Toronto I cannot find it anywhere.
Actually there is a little Azorean shop on Kerr street in Oakville. They sell a lot of Portuguese and Azorean foods and products! It's called Azores Market. My mom used to work there on Fridays. She would cook the Chicharros for customers.
I go groceries shopping once a week and spend about 140,- euro. Two kids and two adults in Holland. You mentioned that your diëtist advises you to have more snacks during the day. I noticed you bought a lot of fastfood high sugar, low fiber foods. Red bull, icecream chocopops, pizza, hotdogs, pasta etc. I think your energy level might increase of you would change some parts of this diet. Your sugerbalance in your blood will remain more stable, preventing these big energydips that whant you to resort to icecream and hotdogs. Just saying it as a friend. By the way, I prever this new way of presenting the groceries. Could you maybe do a video about the local sports facilities? My son would like to know more about that. Kind regards
Hello! I did buy ice cream and hotdogs but those are only eaten on a rare occasion. It's summer. It's hot, and sometimes a treat is nice. I don't eat these kinds of things every day ☺️ the Redbull wasn't even for me. But you're right. These types of food do affect energy levels! In terms of sport facilities we don't have much, except soccer fields in almost every town. That's the most practiced sport here. If I can I will show some in a future video. Thanks for watching!
Doesn't matter, whatever way works is fine with me. Do you mind me asking, you are a young lady who lived in Canada but now is living in the Azores, can you share why you made the life change to Azores?
Olá gostei de ver o video as compras tudo muito bom um abraço para voces 👍😇🇨🇦🙏❤️

Thank you Rose for sharing. Do you know if you purchased all the meats from the butcher shop will it be cheaper
Usually it is! I do that normally. And the quality is better. But it does depend on the butcher shop when it comes to quality

Love the new way of the grocery haul. Do you have sour cream there?
No! Unfortunately we don't. I use Greek yogurt as a substitute. Thanks so much 🥰

Just to compare, here in America, the same size shrimp (8-12 in a pound), comes out to 32.36€/kg.
Yup. Seafood is really expensive in the states.
I noticed quite a few items that cost about twice as much in the United States. That is 100% more.
Yes but minimum wage must be at least three times more in the united states
Don't eat the cat! 😂
Definitely won't! 😂

I was a minor at the time! So where my parents went, I had to go 😊
