      Physics itself isn't man-made but the concept of physics, how we understand physics, is completely made up by humans. It's kind of like how, if there are two rocks, and two more rocks, there are four rocks whether the rocks like it or not, but "4" is just a symbol, a way to represent that numerical value. Same with physics and time.

    Everything takes time, which means that we cannot by definition observe the passage of time, since the act of observation will create a delay between things happening and our experience.

  • @mskiptr
    @mskiptr Месяц назад +1

    I get you! Overall, there's no "now" - at least in pure materialistic physics. Time doesn't "happen", it just "is". Both the past and the future exist, and if you want to describe it all mathematically, you just bring an extra coordinate to say -where- when stuff is. Also, saying that time somehow "started" doesn't make much sense. For anything to change, you already need something like time. (edit: it _can_ have a beginning and end though)
    Why do we experience "now" though? Well, to answer that question we need to clarify what experiencing things means. That requires figuring out what is consciousness and I just have no idea. It seems to be something entirely different than physics though.

    from what i understand, theres a theory going around that the big bang has already happened theoretically infinite times already, as matter/energy cant be created or destroyed, the universe ends up collapsing in on itself *eventually* and it all starts over, so time would have never really *started* rather its just always *been*. not sure if the theory has been thrown out bc i know heat death and such are popular ideas but its interesting to think about and change how we view time (especially with quantum physics and potentially being able to manipulate particles that are conjoined throughout time).

    1. You are confusing space time with time and the temporal dimension. There is a difference between spacial and temporal dimension.
    2. As per one is living in the past, we usually talk about the now as the sensation of feeling what you called past, so technically, we are living in the present by feeling the past, there is a bit of lag.
    3. There might be reason to think that primitive organic beings such as us don't have the resources nor the mental capacity to comprehend the idea of time, fully. We can attempt to grasp it but it'll be a moving target, akin to how you can't say where an electron is specifically because it is moving.
    Some topics you might wanna consider, flow state, metabolism and the perception of time, how distress affects perception of time, how practicing mindfulness can affect our perception of time and our day to day living. ggs
