So, going in, we KNEW that it was going to be a mystery, a whodunit, full of twists and turns, and feature Sith. Then, as a cherry on top, Leslye gave us something like, "Everything you think this show is about, it's not."
Good mystery? Every episode should leave us wanting more. (Pretty much accomplished)
Whodunit? 6 episodes in and we're STILL speculating who the BIG bad might be.
Twists and turns? Some might argue too many. This many in short episodes makes for a convoluted story. BUT, accomplished.
I've never had the show below a 7/10. It's new, it's bold, and it's told in a different time period. All pluses for me.

The story dictates episode length. Not... episode length dictates the story.
Basically, the episodes are the perfect length (in their eyes), for the story they want to tell.
Personally, I am not bothered by the episode length at all.

Noticed this detail as well - also how the second Neimoidian quickly steps in when Yord is about to use the mind trick to make the other one speak the truth (and possibly revealing more than intended). There absolutely are little things here and there that will be more obvious on a rewatch, some tied to the main arc of this season, some to the larger plot. Really love the series - quickly giving answers to some things, adding more questions, having some things that are heavily foreshadowed, but also some things that aren't that easily guessed. Makes one really intrigued. Can't wait for the last two episodes.

I was almost giving up on House of the Dragon after last week’s episode, The Burning Mill, failed to impress on top of the controversial changes with Blood & Cheese that George R.R. Martin wasn’t happy about. Ready to put Andor above it. The problem with HOT D is it’s based from a book. Any slight deviation can piss off readers. Andor doesn’t rely on books as a source. It’s free to do anything. HOT D has higher preset expectations.
After HOT D’s Ep 4, my favs of the 2020s
    1. Loki (2021-2023)

Does anyone else remember "Paul"? A couple of years ago I read a few interviews from the Acolyte producers were they said that there was a major legacy character code named Paul that would appear in the show. I interpreted it to mean Plagueis, but it could have been Ki Adi Mundy or even Yoda.

  • @BluhmGardens
    @BluhmGardens 3 месяца назад

I don't know why people (even Meg) keep "predicting" the Sith will be Tenebrous and Plagueis, the timing is way off. That is nothing but people wishing it was Plagueis... Acolyte is around 132 BBY. If Leslye is canonizing things from the Plagueis novel, then the two Sith at that time should be the unnamed Twi'lek Master, and Tenebrous as the apprentice. Wookipedia places the Twi'lek Master's death between 167-124 BBY, and the Acolyte show is right in that timeframe. From the Plagueis novel, Tenebrous and his Master "created a hole in the Force that allowed the Jedi to feel the Darkside for the first time in over 8 centuries since the last battle of the New Sith Wars" (1000 BBY). That would place the ritual they do to be in between 199-101 BBY (again, same timeframe), but to our knowledge the Jedi have not yet been able to feel the Darkside in the Acolyte show. As evident by none of them being able to feel the Darkside in Qimir. That said, my prediction now is that the Sith we will see in episode 8 will be Tenebrous (as an apprentice) when he finds Qimir (their cast off Acolyte who wants to start his own Rule of Two) on Bal'demnic and discovers the cortosis veins for the first time. Or we'll see the Twi'lek Master and Tenebrous, since Leslye said there are two Sith in the show and Qimir already admitted he's not a Sith... Acolytes aren't Sith, just the Master and Apprentice are given that title.

The characters feel a little too secondary to some perceived "cool" story forcing itself forward without adequate regard for it's world and characters.
I don't know that it's good Star Wars. However, the show draws interest in trying to figure out the mess that is going on. Might still be an adequate to interesting story depending on if the last two episodes can bring it home.

It is at this point a bit sad and annoying that so many people can't get past their own expectations of what they thought this show and this era would be like.
They're letting their own ideas about how it should have been written, preformed directed and films stand in the way of just sitting back and letting the show tell it's story. They've done this with every non-animated show Disney has put out, and yet they still don't get that these shows won't ever cater to what they want 100% of the time. Real waste of energy.

I think The Acolyte has been a very exciting journey by touching on witchcraft, views of the force from the Sith perspective and utilizing more martial art combat skill. I also think the Acolyte's Sith theme of killing a Jedi without a weapon really means seducing a Jedi to join the dark side and abandoning the Jedi philosophy of maintaining peace and justice throughout the galaxy. I also think Osha will turn to the dark side and will be wearing the Cortosis helmet more and more. I think she will ultimately overpower Qimir and kill him in front of Mae and Sol as a mere demonstration of her renewed connection with the force. I also think the final fight will be Mae and Sol teaming up against a very dark side Osha resulting in the death of Sol and Mae running away and hiding for fear of her life. I think with the Cortosis helmet on, Osha will be this series version of Darth Tenebrous. I feel that if Lesley Hedlund decides to create a season 2 of the Acolyte, I feel that Darth Osha will seduce Venestra Rwo's apprentice, Mog and Mog will eventually become this series version of Darth Plagueis (Mog already has the physique to be a human equivalent to Plagueis). I feel Darth Osha will order her new dark side apprentice to find and kill Mae because even with tremendous dark side strength, Osha still can't bring herself to kill Mae. Mog may very well end up killing both Mae and Osha and in his later years discover a very young and disgruntled youth named Palpatine.

Some other reporters are trying to convey that Sol will be killed-off by Osha, as Sol finds Qimir and her on the unknown planet, through Mae.
But the actor playing Sol has been a goldmine for the series… so losing Sol would not be wise.
Instead, we need to figure out who the cloaked unknown figure was at the Ascension from E3. Why did that figure suddenly disappear once the Jedi arrived at the ceremony? Why did Mother Cora see something was wrong in the energy sector of their fortress soon after?
Did the Sith actually destroy the Brendok fortress, but leaving blame on the Jedi?
Yes, the Jedi and Brendok witches didn’t get along…. this would allow any Sith to manipulate their killings of the witches, and blame the Jedi… who, themselves, may have sensed the Sith and sought to confront the Sith character…

I'm so glad you're doing better Meg!!!
When he's getting in the water, stripping away his dark clothes, he's being transparent and vulnerable to Osha. Mae has never known her master's face and he's trying to do it "right" this time. He was carrying his white clothes. He set them down offscreen.
We'll find out what happened to the coven. Koril probably controlled both sides of the battle so the Jedi look bad. The helmet will show Osha the truth and Sol will tell Mae his truth. Sol is not weak-minded so maybe he knows the truth and went along with [whatever Koril did] to get Osha out.
Vernestra doesn't know the whole truth and Sol's biggest secret will [probably] die with him, without telling her. The other three Jedi think they did something bad.
There's one thing that will change everything for me. If the witches are revealed to survive in the end, there will be speculation for years about whether they ever died or if Koril brought them back. Koril might be the big boss-ness and a tie to the Sith returning. Her ties with. However, there are two robed figures at the Ascension party. We can appreciate this coven for what it is and keep the Witches of Dathomir in their own niche.
If it were me, I'd end the series with Osha and Mae testifying to Vernestra that it was Sol, but leaving her with no way to capture them, and Mae earning her redemption with Qimir (Darth Guns) showing how she learned from her weakness, how to kill the dream. They plant the seed of doubt that grows dogma within the Jedi Order beyond recovery and have them fade into obscurity without anyone else knowing about Qimir.
    That's my perspective and theories.

  • @jdiperla
    @jdiperla 3 месяца назад

So here are my thoughts on this... Qimir is Darth Venomis. I believe Qimir was Vernestra's apprentice. Vernestra tried to kill Qimir for whatever reason and it did not work out. I believe Vernestra is going to be Darth Tenebrous. As such, I think she found Plaguies and thought he was a better apprentice than Venomis. So she tries to kill him. I think that is part of the reason why she lays low on Coruscant.
Next, I don't think Mae, Osha, Qimir, Vernestra are the Acolyte. I believe there will be 2 Acolytes by the end of the series serving different purposes. I will explain.
I think Qimir intentionally withheld killing Mae. I think he intends to use their Force Dyad Power to make himself younger, thereby attempting to kill both of the twins. However, I believe Mae will try and redeem herself and sacrifice herself to prevent this from happening so that Osha is not killed in the process. I strongly believe that Osha will kill Qimir at this point.
Next, after hearing from Qimir his take on whatever Sol did, Osha will turn against him. I think Vernestra and her team will also turn against Sol and possibly have him expelled or on the run as a fugitive. When all is said and done, Vernestra will be killed.
Later on, Osha, having lost her sister and feeling betrayed by Qimir, Sol and the Jedi will leave and form the Knights of Ren.
Similarly... I think that Senator mentioned in Episode 6 will be David Harewood who will turn out to be playing Darth Plagues, who I also tend to believe was working with Vernestra as her apprentice. With her dead, he now is the new Sith Lord. With Sol on the outs and clearly having dark side tendency's... I believe Plagues will recruit Sol as his new Dark Side apprentice, making Sol the Titular Acolyte all along.

honestly, i think the acting is great, and it hasnt been afraid to throw in a few moments that surprised(episode 5), i think production has been great value, as well as new locations and not too much CGI, they have introduced and developed new characters and new storylines that in the long run could help develop the lore. I myself have been watching star wars since the 80s and i like this series like them all they have negatives, but nothing like the clear hate its getting, Andor was great mando was formulaic but helped to introduce different ideas of this galaxy created. Only thing i dont like is the hate for hating sake, following the leader without actual individual and credible criticism and being worried others will hate on you for not following 👍

Not sure...that seems like a reach and I'm not really sure this director could pull off something like that, with that much forethought, and that quality. I think you're thinking too much in terms of a story being that good. It'd make for a great story if something said "Property of Demask Holdings" or something like that. But I just don't believe the writing would be that good. When these two actors say "lots of jaw dropping moments to come," I'm a little hesitant because after 6 episodes not much has happened. They'll have to pack a hell of a lot of story in 2 40 minute episodes. Which I unfortunately can't see happening. Based on the series so far 3/4 of the way through, I don't see the writing being that good. Even if it did have jaw dropping moments in the last episode, my question would be why waste 7 episodes of not much for this to happen now?
