I'll be muzzle training my 3 year olf boy soon so he can be handled at the vet. This video will greatly help and create a more positive experience hopefully. Treats and peanut butter too. ❤️🐾
My dog really ended up hurting herself today because she wasn’t well socialized as a pup and is aggressive with other dogs. She doesn’t do any damage or like hurt them but she wants them to know she is in charge wherever she goes. Today she ended up getting her tooth ripped out, jaw broken, and swelling behind her eye because when she tried this with my moms friends dog her tooth got caught in his collar and he turn his head so quickly it ripped the tooth out and broke her jaw. She needed two surgeries and has to be on a liquid diet for a while. This was a wake up call. I’m now going to *try* to train her to control herself a bit around other dogs and think it’s about time she should start wearing a muzzle around other animals to prevent this in the future. This is very helpful thank you so much 💙
Thanks Melissa!! Awesome video!! I tried a cloth muzzle and she freaked out and pawed it off in seconds. On top of that, I didn't use your 3 step acclamation process; so I'll be ordering the Baskerville muzzle as well as that neat little clicking thingy (at treat time). Oh yeah, and thanks for being GORGEOUS!!! Wish Union Lake was on Maui... my mini pitbull, Tita, could sure use some training: great with people BUT complete annihialtion for every other living creature.
Great! Let me try this! Having a hard time, bites & lunges at ppl & other dogs. Can’t afford a trainer. We adopted and will hate to give up on him like others
Excellent video excellent information just all-around a-plus-plus thank you and yep got a Baskerville Ultra muzzle for my dog have already started to acclimate by feeding pieces of hot dog threw it on her walk I would stop I should stick a nose right in their amazing I'm sure the third step is going to be a trip she doesn't even like a t-shirt put over her head LOL we'll work it out thank you again
@Union Lake Pet Services Can I possibly get the link for this exact muzzle? I can not find the muzzle with the strap. Also, what size of these would you recommend for a full grown pit bull? I am curious about these.
This helps me out. A person with no dog tried to kick my dog so my dog barked at the person with hakels up. I got $400 in fines. I got the plate number, i will get my dues, ordered to wear a muzzle and 2 years going to the park and no issues before.
My dog's root problem is not biting, it is that he eats mushrooms off the ground while walking; which makes him sick. I want to use a muzzle or modified muzzle to stop him from doing this. Any ideas ? Is this a bad idea ?
@@Luna-ej4mi no problem! ruclips.net/video/ayVHb2IACgA/видео.html here's a video about different muzzles that might help you find one that works for that. the guy mentions a muzzle that can help prevent dogs from eating rocks and such. hopefully, you can stop your dog from eating that stuff lol.
stop excuses... condition the dog to enjoy the muzzle. you already have encouraged the dog to 'paw it off' even if it is by doing nothing to make it enjoyable
@@DougHinVA no dog like his mouth shut he a puppy he likes to bite he took it off because it uncomfortable that muzzle just doesn't work for a pittbull
drumroll cyborg condition the dog to love the muzzle! I highly recommend Louise Stapleton’s muzzle training video here on RUclips. It really covers the essential steps you should do before ever putting the muzzle on like in this video. Each step in Louise’s video should be done in phases....each step worth a week of practice. Do the exercise explained a couple times a day, short sessions, always ending on a good note. Kikopup also has a great video as well.
@@sayblaze Puppies do like to bite, but muzzle training can be very useful if you ever need it in the future. A lot of dog's muzzle train for various reasons, not always because they are mean. Some dogs just dont like other dogs, or they get scared of strangers. Muzzles help protect your dog and a stranger/other dog.
I disagree with the statement at the start of the video. Every dog should be trained to wear a muzzle, even if they are normally the best dog in the world. One day they will be injured or in pain and the vet will need them to wear a muzzle - this day will be a lot more pleasant for your dog if they are already comfortable and happy to wear a muzzle. If you're dog is muzzle trained already, it might save your dog from needing to be sedated.
Excellent video; great information, short and concise, and easy flow to it. Thanks
Thank you for the demonstration, I could not for the life of me figure out where that final strap went.
Dont use these collars when its hot dogs need to open there mouths to cool off because they dont have sweat glands.
Me too! She’s the only one that explained that strap
Outstanding video….I was not sure how to approach installing a muzzle..and now I know!!

Excellent video!!!! Great clear detailed explanation!
this was such a great tutorial (i see its a few years old but) it helped me understand how to get to step 3...PB! Great tip, thanks!
Thanks, this is a really simple and easy video to watch and will help us greatly in teaching our dog to wear a muzzle.
Thank you for the detailed explanation and demonstrated the perfect skills!

avoid cloth as it restricts a dog from even opening their mouths a little which most dogs will hate and trust is lost. baskerville is top notch.
@@islandboy9580 Good point, Thanks!

Hi Michelle, missed your comment earlier but just wanted to know that we hope the video helped. How is she doing?
LOL - That guy is not a squirmy GSD /Belgian Malinois.... Boy, do I need help.

I bought a muzzle like this one from th vet but it didn't come with a collar-what type collar?

Baskerville has an anti scavenge muzzle
Whats the clicker for? Curious
It’s a training tool. Dogs learn that they did what they were asked to do properly when they hear the click.
My dog (a female Jindo) loves people, but is terrible with other dogs. I’m not her first owner, so not sure what might have happened.
very nice video
please take in mind that baskervilles are really soft and aren't classified as bite-proof!
Indeed.. probably because you can reshape them if necessary
What about dogs who will eat any garbage on the road they find? Can I use the same technique?
Usually, the dog can still eat and drink with it on if it's a basket muzzle so that most likely wouldn't; work that well.
@@ashhh_okumura I see, thank you

Good thing my dog doesnt hate peanut butter.. oh wait
