Once I bought my PS4 PRO I threw a 1TB Samsung EVO SSD in it the same day. The difference is insane. The buffering/rendering (bloom and tesselation) as well as loading of tracks in racing games, Ai players, loading maps etc is night and day.

Yup. Couldn’t believe how much faster the Pro was than the base ps4. Then I upgraded with a SSD and everything ran even smoothers. I really noticed when I played Warzone and noticed I didn’t see the textures loading in on screen like I did before upgrading to an SSD.
The fact that PS5 doesn’t have any games at 4k60 ray tracing, hasnt made me feel the need to get one just yet. I’m waiting on a PS5 pro, hopefully 4k60fps with ray tracing

The insider news on PSVR2 were leaked over a year before it released and they were accurate, as we can obviously see. Now insider information has that we're gonna receive a slim model PS5 of Holiday later this year and improved/updated "pro" model in 2024/2025. It wouldn't surprise me seeing it in 2026 either but I'd put my money on a late 2024/early 2025 release just as how the PS4 Pro was rolled out. $$$ Talks and I can see a $600-700 pricetag, that myself and many others would happily pay

It makes a world of difference if you're someone like me who's mainly a PC gamer and only just getting back into consoles for exclusives. I just recently bought a PS4 launch model and the first thing I did was to take it apart, clean the fan, replace the thermal paste, and upgrade to an SSD. The SSD and buying digital games did a lot to make the experience as close as I could get it to gaming on PC. The SSD helps with disc games but it's even faster with digital copies. The UI is snappier, games download quicker, loading times are quicker, and it even slightly helps with games that have bad texture pop-in. Not a massive difference but noticeable. Think about getting back 10 to 40 seconds of your life when playing a game that has long loading times every time you die. The SSD is worth it just for that.

Here’s a good example to back up your opinion.
Last gen when I had a PS4 Pro and Xbox One S, the only difference I saw between the 2 were visuals. Both loaded games at the same rate and performed pretty similarly when running software. When I got the Xbox this gen, I gave my One S to my daughter. She complained about how slow it was but I assumed she was just complaining to complain. Well she wasn’t wrong. I had gotten so used to an SSD in the PS4 and even faster SSDs in the PS5 and series X, I didn’t realize how miserably slow a traditional drive was. I wish the Xbone platform supported HD swaps.

Upgrading to SSD on my slim was a good choice. The UI finally runs smooth. Recording gameplay is snappier. On HDD there was a noticeable delay. Most games not only load quicker, but run smoother. I play Dead by Daylight a lot and on HDD at the Menu everything ran so slow and choppy when navigating. With SSD it helped decrease all of that. But definitely a difference. With Modern Warfare it helped, too. On HDD I would face stuttering after playing so long. With SSD there’s hardly ever any stuttering in gameplay. I even tested GTA V story mode and loading is faster. Sometimes booting it up from the start is about the same. But loading into missions is faster. Even Fortnite runs smoother when navigating the menus. I even tested games like RE6, Prototype2, Doom 3 they all loaded so much faster.

I've finally done the Upgrade today and it has now almost the same Drive like yours. It was such an easy upgrade and i should've done that two years ago. Now, it finally has a 1 TB QVO SSD but most of my games already sit on a fast Samsung T7 2 TB SSD that cost me a little fortune back then. The performance benefit i can gain is not gigantic but IMHO it's still worth it since Sony has used SATA II Version of the 1 TB HGST Harddrive in some Consoles. Like we saw in the Video, there are Games that just don't arent optimized or small then the loading times are pretty much identical.
I hope that others, like the notorius Battlefield 1 indeed will get a little boost, but the PS4 already has a USB 3.0 Port. Unfortunately, the biggest Bottleneck is the Jaguar CPU, even if it's a PS4 Pro with 8 Cores, but they still run only with 1.6 GHz, which by today's standards is not that impressive. Still i'll upgrade my machine again in the coming week with a 2 TB SSD, then this one will upgrade my PS 3 Slim to breath new life into this still awesome console.
I've also figured out that you can use your PS4 Controllers very easy on PS3. Just hold select and the PS Button the pair it with your PS3! That's a fantastic upgrade IMHO, i liked the PS3 Controller but once i've used the PS4 my perception clearly shifted.
Also, i made this process a bit easier. Only backup all the Savegames, the Download the Full PS4 Firmware, create two folders, one "PS4" in there one "UPDATE" then copy the PS4UPDATE.PUP in there. Connect your Controller with the cable, connect the USB Drive witht the firmware, hold the Power Button of the PS4 for 7 seconds then choose restore PS4 Firmware.
That took only a couple of minutes since i used a SSD to install the Firmware. Then you copy the Savegames back, login to your Playstation Account, change the Settings to your liking and with this method the Setup Process will take you maximum one hour, except for the Games you want to copy over to the SSD, this can be done overnight. Then, when you wake up the nex morning, all you Favourite Games are on the new, fast SSD.

I got a team group ex2 off Amazon for like $50 that I put in my PS4 slim. The load times on games stored in the system is much faster.
Also in cod with my old 1tb hhd I'd have the frame disappear and take a few seconds in the beginning of matches. Also in cod cold war in multiplayer when waiting to get into a game people would disappear and you only see floating guns, it would be 50/50 if they would load in before the maych started.
Now with the 1tb ssd what i have noticed is #1 fast load times, what took 2-3 min to load in days gone now takes 30 sec. Cod doesnt have frame drop, the graphics also look much better in both games. The ps4 menu is much smoother and fast. Itd honestly the best thing you can do with your ps4 wether u have an original, slim or pro.
I had my original 500g hhd ps4 and my 1tb ssd slim on side by side monitors and the 500 was considerably slower loading cod snd the colors dont look as sharp and bright as the slim. Both of my systems now have team group ex2 ssd's. Im ordering another 2tb ssd for an external drive to store some games on.

What i think would be interesting is if you could upgrade the ram capacity in ps3 so that games like skyrim can run with save files of 14mb and up without lag, or freezing. I know the cell processor has split ram. I think bethesda just didnt care and treated the split as just a half powerful xbox. In other words they didnt even try to utilize the other half of the ram dedicated to the cpu for skyrim. So at 14mb and up save files was too much for the 256 or 128mb ram that it used from the split side that was running games. Idk,

Wow, thats going to be a massive drive and a hell of a digital library right there. If I understand the question correctly, you do need to create a OS installer with a USB sitck/drive to install the OS when installing the new drive.

N64 emulator that runs Super Mario 64 full screen with "better resolution".. I love it even tho I have other Emulators on laptop.. Can't beat Surreal CE I think on Xbox... NOT 360 upwards.. Modded 4-5 consoles and NO bricks... 100%. Got cables, DVD and mem card shit needed..Will mod if asked.. NO COST...Need drop off and collection.. About 30 mins for modding.. upwards of 1 hour if HDD change and test.. Trust me..

@@PunchNpie Thanks.. It is what I wondered.. ALSO - I check each month on PSN store for deals.. Some amazing savings can be got if you don't want physical versions.. Got ALL 4 Trine games for less than the price of the 4th one alone (£7.50 for all I think instead of £25+ for Trine 4 alone).. I normally end up with between £100 and £150 SAVING.. 90% off sometimes and worth checking out at start of each month.. Got BOTH South Park games for under £10 so can't complain... Don't buy if not on offer one month as may be on offer a little later on.. Trust me on that. UK and US stores seem to be different on offers too.. Just be patient.. I'm SLOWLY collecting Pinball FX3 tables.. Got ALL Williams and many others.. NO Marvel, Star Wars and Zen yet.. Can recommend Family Guy pack, Aliens pack and Portal at right price.. Wait for Williams packs to hit the $/£7.99 and buy all 6 if funds allow.. Indiana is personal choice as a little expensive for a single table. FX3 is best played with a PSVR... NOT VR but great feeling of "being there" when table is set to view 2.. Try it if you can. Planet Coaster is another good one with PSVR..NOT VR again but it's amazing with a simulated 100" screen that PSVR does in medium mode.. Large mode is like the front seat of the cinema and you have to pan your head to see the full screen - Great for movies but not for gaming.. ;)

OH.. PS4 PSVR supports 3D BluRay movies in FULL 3D too... Tested with Transformers - Dark of the Moon.. DVD, BluRay and 3D Bluray for £1.. Best £1 test ever and gave the set to a friend so he could test out his normal BluRay player after.. Could sell for a penny so passed on to a friend instead..
Hard drive being fitted above will give me the ULTIMATE PS4 Pro available. Not interested in PS5 until PS6 comes out and price drops.. There is still a lot of life in the PS4 yet... Check out the PSN store for PSVR titles.. They just keep coming but hardly ever advertised.. many are free like "Crow" - animated movie with a few stars voicing it..

I don't remember doing any of this the last time I put a new hard drive in my PlayStation, I mean the part where you have to use a thumb drive to save the update file onto the thumb drive to be able to update the system? • @PunchNpie

Unfortunately that won’t work. You could possibly clone the drive, as long as your new drive is the same capacity. If your original drive is 500gb and your new SSD is 1TB, it will only allocate 500gb of that SSD because that’s what your original drive image is. Unfortunately the method in my video is the best method, even though it is really time consuming.

You can use a 1TB thumb drive but I prefer to use an external hard drive. I create the OS installer on a thumb drive. Digital only games do the same thing, they just call to a server instead of a disc to make sure you're allowed to play them. Nothing runs off a disc ever.
