Curious about how the new 3030i stacks up to the smaller 3020i? So am I. Especially given how similar both speakers are in price. If you're interested in that kind of comparison, take the time to give this post a 'like'. If enough of you do so, I'll see if Q Acoustics will be down to send some 3030i's my way. On the surface of things, it looks like you get the same thing, only more of it. But as some of you know, that's not always how things play out.
Most def! Have them send the concept 20s as well, they are really good for the price. The cabinet is phenomenal.
I think they would sound a little bigger... 😁
Do it
Video is a bit soft on volume on this one :)
or perhaps they will send you a pair of their Concepts 20 or 40... cool!
I am using my 3020is as mains for my apartment living room and blew my mind the moment I hooked up to my vintage pioneer A9 integrated amplifier and streamed some deep house. Because my living room is so small, the bass is visceral and deep yet tight and punchy and does not need a subwoofer.
How small is small? I'm looking for these as mains and surrounds with a viewing distance of around 8.5feet to the TV. The rears will be close to the back of the sofa (against the wall)
I’ve asked for this for a number of years. You finally got a pair!
I've been waiting for this, thank you!
Thanks for watching!
The last minute of your video sums it up to the essence 🙏🏻 I like the tripod steady view ✌🏻
Hey!! finally!! a Q acoustics review! thanks!!
Instant sub man.
i love the detail you give at first
Good job on the review, and I'm happy to see such a high view count. Keep up the good work man.
The speakers are not what I’m looking for but one of your best and most comprehensive reviews yet, Sean. You really nailed it this time, especially the Setup Tips. 5 out of 5 👍
I use Q acoustics for my 5.1 system, 3020s for the front left and right, 3090c, 3070s and 3010s for the rears with a Denon 2400 amplifier with my own brand speaker wire. It sounds fantastic, completely neutral and blends well with all genres. I am so glad I went for this quality British brand
Hi Trushar -- I'm also considering these to be part of a home-theater setup. 3020i for Fronts, 3090ci for center and 3010i for rear. However, I'm not going to go with a sub-woofer for sometime. Does that impact the overall presentation? How is the bass on these Q Acoustics?
My use-case is mainly for gaming + movies. Music listening is secondary. Was wondering if a lack of sub-woofer will adversely impact my setup. Please let me know.
@@vinaychilukuri Hi, Yes it probably will. I am personally thinking about getting another sub for a left/right approach as it does make a huge difference below 80hz. Dont get me wrong, the mids are great but for movies, you would need that low down bass to bring the whole experience alive.
@@looneytoons171 Thanks a lot for the reply. I noticed that the Q Acoustics operate in the 65Hz range and above. So, bass will be a problem. I'll probably go with Pioneer Andrew Jones speakers. They seem to handle decent amount of bass without the need to have a sub.
Thanks again.
Hi, which sub do u use?
great review. i really like how u give honest pro n con....and sharing your experience with placement...equip matching.
Cheers!
Thank you Sean for your interesting and informative channel.
Thanks Mike!
Thanks Sean for another good review. Not all connoisseurs of music can afford higher end equipment; so it’s good that you review some more affordable speakers. Your comparison with the PSB and Klipsch of similar price was welcome too. The inclusion of the Dynaudio speakers in the comparison was useful to ground some perhaps unrealistic performance expectations of buyers at the more affordable prices. Well done.
Very well said
Nice review , I mean for the price point looks like a great choice that many would enjoy 😆 Thanks Sean
What a beautiful wood finish!
Very glad you mentioned crossing the tweeters in front of you - it does really help with precise imaging and also tightens the bass. I've had them for about 4 months now, driven by ICE power diy amp and diy tube pre. They're normally positioned at the sides of a built-in entertainment center and we play them facing straight ahead from this position for TV/moves. We bring them out and do the cross-in-front thing for most music.
I've been in the audiophile realm for 30 years now and I am mightily impressed by how much lower priced speakers have improved. These speakers play with a quality that was not touchable for less than $2K in the late 80's/early 90s.
As a metalhead i'm thankful you talked about that genre
I love that you mention how some speakers handle metal, I'm a metalhead audiophile myself (my favorites are tech and prog death) and it's hard to find opinions on how equipment will handle the music I listen to the most.
Big Daddy J Gojira
these handle metal very well, from early rough records like pungent stench through to the newest deicide. Very good doesn't make rough recordings sound like crap.
I've got these, drivers aren't moving quite enough air for kicking metal out....great all rounders but you could sacrifice a bit of refinement for a speaker with a bigger driver.
I've had the 3050i's as my mains for about a year now. Loving them
Nice!
I have the entire 5.1 setup two years now ... Great for the price 👍
@@NANA-gy7yx I am also planning to buy this 5.1 package . What is your opinion.also there are many other option in the same rate dali oberon.klipsch . What is your opinion
@@yoguyogueee721 I tried the Klipsch, Jamo, and Q Acoustics (and a few others that I don't remember but where too expensive). I love my 3050i setup very balanced and no shrills to my ears like the Klipsch. But if you are a base head, I would get a better subwoofer. For me, it is the way that I like it. Only thing that could get better is the finishing around the edges but you only notice it if you look very closely. The center is not the best but I am sure it is my poor room acoustics. Overall, I am very satisfied with my setup and wouldn't trade for anything else.
Jamos weren't bad and were value for money.
Don't buy speakers based on reviews, buy them based on your ears. Because when I demoed more expensive speakers, they were the same performance to me or has better separation but wasn't worth paying the difference at the time. So, always demo the speakers before you buy.
@@NANA-gy7yx thank u for your kind reply brother. Audition is very difficult in INDIA . HERE only very few peoples are buying and using highend speakers . that's why I am seeking for rewiew.
I think it's the first product i see on your channel that I can actually afford :)
Akif Akyel 🙃👍💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻
Polk t50 also affordable
me too....
I have a pair of these and they are great for the money. I use them with Pro-Ject Debut III S Audiophile turntable and older Yamaha RX-397 receiver and the sound is very good. They are especially great for jazz music.
Great little speaker stands.
appreciate the sense of solidarity, comrade!
Thanks for your review it helped me make my mind up as to the rubber feet & would they fit on my atacama speaker stands.
Help. I biamped my Kef XQ5 floor standers with my NAD T743 AVR (used) and the bass seemed boomier and less "tight" than when I simply ran them connected in the 8ohm configuration (not bi-amped). Is this the amps inability to perform at 4ohms even though no clipping?
WOW! Those are some NICE looking $300 speakers!
They are. The finish is vinyl, but it looks lovely and the seam is hidden on the bottom side. They look very good with the matching stands (also very stable with them). I was going to make stands for them, but any kind of complimentary design cost nearly as much or more than the Q acoustics ones, so is took the plunge.
Best of all, the finish is a near perfect match to the wood base of my pre-amp chassis.
Thanks for another great review Sean! I am looking at the Q Active 200, it you can review those it would be awesome.
Just across your video. Really enjoyed the details. Definitely going for the 3020i. Kind of sound I am looking for and within the price range. Just paired it with the Sony str-dn1080. Just starting off on building my first ever setup. Using them also to help boost up the TV sound output. Flat is not huge so think this will do and don't think I'll need a sub for now as I think this will be OK. Good detailed work. Thanks.
David T, if you see this please update here how your setup is going?
Hi mate. Great review. Do you think these would be suitable to use as the rear speakers in a 5.1 setup? Thanks. Rob from Australia.
Best review
Would Marantz nr1200 or denon dra800 be a good match for these speakers?
Thanks for the review ... just picked up a pair and awaiting their delivery. I do listen to a lot of metal but also other lighter fare like Lite Rock ... Looking forward to the laid back British sound to be honest. I've owned many Klipsch speakers over the last 20 years and while you are right they are more forward and alive for metal especially, they do get fatiguing at longer listening periods. Klipsch has a nice live sound but all their speakers I feel are hard to tame.
Solidity not solidarity. Now, I love your reviews, seriously.
How do you compare these with Monito Audio Bronze 2s? Do you think they are similar in any way? Thanks
What amp do you recommend to go with these? Must have optical input
If you can, please review the Q Acoustics Concept 500 or Concept 300. I think they are great speakers for the money.
Nice review by the way.
Great review as usual, really helped pin down my next purchase. Your thoughts would be appreciated on the following.
The 3020i's would be used solely for enhancing TV sound & streamed music/podcasts via Spotify, Tidal etc.
Music tastes are light classical, piano/guitar soft jazz & female vocals.
Room is 12x16ft, carpeted with heavy curtains.
For power & streaming services, am considering the Blue sound Powernode 2i HDMI. Would this be a good fit or can you suggest alternatives. Trying to stay minimalist on boxes & cables to keep 'er indoors happy!
Finally, what is the mini stand, shown under the speaker, at the beginning of the video & where can I buy it, in the UK?
Thanks
Audio affair
can you recomend some speakers under 400 euro or dollars for metal or rock music?
Can you look at mission lx-2? I've only seen a review made by What hifi. On paper, the lx-2 looks really good! However, I have not seen any measurements.
@Zero Fidelity , I know this question makes 0 sense but the polk audio t50 and q3020i are available at a very similar price, what would you recommend over the other, I will be pairing it with a basic yamaha YHT 3072 Home theater package
Are these the best I can buy? Is there anything cheaper or similar priced thats better?
I'm deciding on these or the Dali Spektor 2's. When I heard these didnt get along with metal music I made my decision. The question is, ..do the Dali's?
how to you cmpare the highs to elac debut reference?
Our audio memory is very poor from what I hear and mine seems especially that way. Is there a good inexpensive switch I can use to AB speakers and AB amplifiers to really here what each is doing differently?
How about the Schiit Sys?
I have q acoustics 2020i and I am thinking to use a power amplifier (2x125 rms-8ohm ) . Right now I am using a hybrid integrated amp which has 2x25 at 8ohm and it gives me the sense that the dynamics are not there ,even though the voices are awesome . What do you think ?
Can you power those speaker with a Cambridge AXR85? The power output rated is 85W and for those speakers the recommended stereo amplifier power is 25 - 75W. Would this cause any problem? Thank you
Got the 3020i as fronts with the 3010i as rears, 3090ci as centre and the 3060s for the sub. These work really well in a 5.1 setup.
The 3090ci is amazingly good for the money. I’m definitely a fan.
I'm looking for this exact setup with a Yamaha RX-V6A. Not aure which sub to get though.
Great Format. Great Review. In my opinion you are the best and most “real”, so as not to be insulting, reviewer on RUclips. Night and Day from even a year ago. Thank you. I am in the market for an efficient speaker for the Reisong Tube Amp you recommended ( that I love ). I would like something other then klipsch if you can point me in a good direction. Thanks.
Thanks Tony. Each person brings something different to the platform. As for speakers: Wait for Jays review of some Chinese concentric speakers that look VERY promising. I actually passed the opportunity to review them over to Jay. So far, he seems to be in love .
Solidity that is, not solidarity! Good review 👍
Hi it was great comparison would be great if can advise me as was planning for upgrade between bose AM 5 Series V with q acuotic 3020i or as matter with Klipsch RM 51
Awaiting for your advice as I have elac S8 subwoofer
Many thanks Zubin
would these speakers be mutch of an upgrade over Philips mcm 760 mini hifi system ?
I just got these a couple days ago, still breaking them in but very pleased I chose them. They replace some Mission 760i's. I absolutely love those Missions but I know since doing upgrades to my gear that they are not able to produce what my amp is capable of delivering (Cambridge Audio AXA35). The Q Acoustics give me more and the bass/mid bass is far improved. A bit more detail than the 760i's but not over revealing and with some warmth to it. They are also easier to drive so getting used to lowering the volume on the amp a little bit. Will give an update after some more break-in for a month or two.
I bought these based on your review as a bedroom sysyemand matched them with a class D SMSL 300 amp. Gosh!! They sound amazing! Interestingly, I prefer their sound with the cheap d class than with the IOTAVX. Not sure why.
I had the concept 20 for a while now and i like them so much, i know its not perfect, but i'm really happy with them especially when i paired it with a bw sub. I wonder how it compare with the 3020i? Watching your video makes me wonder why you choose to compare 3020i it with the evoke 10, then it makes me think that evoke 10 must have the same character with the qacoustic in a much much better way, Even though i'm happy with my 20's i'm planning to upgrade soon, Your recommendation is highly appreicated. I am a new subscriber but watching you old review is helpful, keep up with the good job.
How do the the mids compare to the Audioengine A5?
Where did u get those stands?
I'm planning on getting Marantz PM6007 with the 3020i. I'm a noob and this would be my first hifi setup. Kindly advice.
Hey thanks for the review! Always appreciated! I was wondering which one you recommend between the 3020i and the Polk S15/20?
I will be using them for a movie/tv application only.
Thanks! :)
I am also looking for that answer please let me know if already know the answer (3030i)
Did anyone settle on their answer to this?
These or the Klipsch R-51M for Movies? i got the Klipsch 100SW SUB
So what am I doing wrong? I've had a pair of 3020i for a few weeks now and I CAN'T get used to the sound. Most reviewers call them slightly warm, but for me they are fatiguing AF. They feel shouty and trebly and almost aggressive. I know I come from a pair of very old and possibly crappy, tiny KODA (kinda no-name) floor standers, which I believe had their top end so rolled off you didn't hear any of it, but I'm losing my mind here. When I listen to recordings, every minute or so there's gonna be some note that's so sharp it pierces my ears. I've even tried putting some cotton cloth in front of the tweeters (that seems to have helped a little). Now I'm testing them at a much lower height (on little 40cm stands), which also seems to be helping (less fatigue than putting them on 100cm high bookshelves). I'm still using my AVR (Yamaha V595a, I know, also old), so what's going on? Why do so many people enjoy the Q Acoustics sound but I still can't? Could they be a really bad pairing with my old Yamaha? I'm not expecting miracles, I just don't want pain in my ears because I've spent money on new speakers :(
It would be helpful if you mention the amp you use to test speakers. I enjoy your reviews.
I have these as part of my AV set up and I have to say that bang for the buck my system is great considering the size of the units. IMO the sub is hands down the best product in the range though. Changing the subject slightly, but I’m looking to move away from B&W Preference 5 floorstanders and have been perving over the Harbeth M30.2’s for some time. Given your experience with the baby brother the P3ESR based on the M20, have you heard the 30’s Sean and could you give me your opinion if you have?
The q acoustic subs aren't that great especially the dual 6.5" model.
Hi. which one is better? sorry but i don't understand english I would like to buy the q acoustics 3020i or 3030i
Thanks a lot
Q Acoustics ... something for everyone. It’s house sound is easy to swallow. I loved my Concept 20. Great price too.
Even Ken Ishiwata uses a Q Acoustic Concept 500 for his Marantz listening space. 😬
Sadly, he *used* them. :(. But yeah, the Q acoustics house sound is very easy to get along with.
Fat Rat ... I got a ‘not been nice to MIL’ filter. Sorry! Lol
Fat Rat ... better than using YT as a chat room lol
A link to your desk top speaker stands, please ?
I luv my Q Acoustics 3050 drived by mine Yamaha AS-1100🎶
Hey, I'm considering the 3050 as UN upgrade from my 2020... The one thing I would love to know is the 3050 laid back and warm or is it bright?
Great review, love that you cover how the speakers sound with metal, as I'm a fan of Nightwish and Epica as well.
Which speakers do you think are better for that kind of music, if one is willing to spend a bit more (500-700€, along the lines of the BR03, DBR62 and so on)?
Polk Audio Signature 20's. Triangle BRO3's. Those would get my vote for that kinda music. Erring slightly more towards Triangle.
@@ZeroFidelity so S20 are better for heavy metal .... but they are so big o.O
Solidity
Now I gotta ask of the Evokes and Klipsch do well on a desk as well.
Prog Metal like Haken, Opeth, Jinjer also shines with good equipment. Nice ZF, you're posting still!
Hi Shan this is totally of topic and I dont know what else to do sorry in advance I ordered the iota stack 3 weeks ago they have taken my money and I've heard nothing back from them about my money or the product just wondering if you knew anything or is this normal tug hey
I have the original 3020 I picked up a set of those on Amazon. I am running them off an Imya do5 (yeah I'm sure I spelled it wrong) which is putting out about 30 to 40 watts per channel. I have added the Kanto Sub 8 and it is a fantastic little desktop near field system.
Nice looking speakers, they really are. Would look great at the sides of my pc monitor.
First time I hear of a speaker expressing solidarity..
I think he meant "solidity":-)
What speakers of a similar price range o just a bit more would you recommend for metal, rock and symphonic metal would you suggest?
I think he said it in the review. The Klipsch speakers would be better unless you're sensitive to a pronounced top end.
Nightwish!
Epica!
Zero fidelity is now my favorite. 🤘
Whut is better Polk s60 ore paradigm 6000f for gaming movies and music
3020i or triange br02?
Always wondered how this would compare to the Micca RB42
They would blow away micca rb42
Have you test: Dynavoice DM6?
Could you also review the ELAC BS312. It is a classic and the underlying concept with the Al cabinet and ribbon tweeter is great. This speaker deserves more attention.
I use the 3020 and a sub for my PC great for near field listening,i also own the Concept 20s you cant go wrong with Q Acoustics.
What sub have you got paired with them? :)
@@jordanbennenbroek9042 Wharfdale 10" with Kef LS50s now.
@@yumidad ah, is that the sw150? I've heard it's quite musical
Hi, how would you compare the Concept 20 to the 3020 sound quality wise? It is worth the price increase of the Concept 20? Thanks a lot.
@@camilo862 You are mainly paying extra for the build quality and finish not so much difference on an audio level but the Concepts are little more refined.
Nice review! Have you had a chance to check out the XTZ Spirit 4?
Thanks Ed, and nope, I haven't.
I was thinking of getting the 3020i for use in a smaller room, playing exclusively vinyl. Would the 3020i be a good match?
The Q acoustics 3020i filled my 13 x 11.5 living room up no problem! Mind you I had a couple of t5i rel subwoofers just to give you the full package mind.
Can you please review AUDIOVECTOR QR1 and ELAC BS 403?
I think you should review more 1000 - 2000 usd speakers! And more 1000-2000 usd amps and dacs.
Btw love your reviews :)
The cabinet doesn't have solidarity, it has solidity. And I'm not even a native speaker.
How do they compare to the Elac debut 2.0 b6.2 bookshelf speakers ?
DBR6.2's are better. Pretty much in every way.
@@ZeroFidelity Thank You
I was considering a pair of 3050is for quite a long time but ended up with a pair of Tannoy Revolution XT 6Fs instead. It would be great if Sean gets to review the Tannoys but according to Steve G. their US distribution sucks.
Great Video.
But the Q Acoustics Concept 20 is the one
Hello, what Center speaker would you recommend paring with 3020i ? I have 3090 but looking for an upgrade ? Thank you for your info
I'm honestly not qualified enough to tell you. I don't even own a TV/Projector. Hopefully somebody here can provide you with some useful guidance.
@@ZeroFidelity Thank you for fast response. I am looking into ELAC since you tested ELAC DB62 series. I would like to listen to them, but sadly not possible in my country, unless I order then abroad. They also have cloth tweeter and aramid woofer. Since you listen to both, how does they sound in comparions. Best regards
@@zbogi5 The DBR62 is a little less prominent along the top end, but is otherwise better in every way. As they should be given the price difference.
Why upgrade the 3090ci’s? One great little center speaker and the best synergy with3020’s.
What a great review! Thanks man! Now, let's talk about the bowers and Wilkins 705s2 or 706s2 or 707s2 speakers for review. By the way, the 3020 looks horrendous. I used to have a pair of the older 3050 towers and although they were decent, i'm so glad I sold them. Now they remind me of computer speakers in terms of styling. Come check on my system on my channel. It's a work in progress. Recorded with the go Pro.
Ty Ger I think you meant to say 3050 towers.
Brian Tompkins thx!! 😊💯
and compared to the RB42?
Looking for a good pair of small speakers atm, but sInce i discovered Triangle ... Funny the Klipsch are called "Reference". They really have the best marketing lol.
Q acoustics 3020i vs elac debut b5.2
For a 8×10 ft room , 5.1.2 setup
You have the same voice as Michael Scott in the Office haha!

Review of the concept 20 from Q acoustics pleasse
What do you think this q acoustics compare against Dali overon 3?
Totally different. Oberon is lively. Airy. A bit thin in the upper midrange. More about speed than warmth. And of course, higher resolution and fuller range due to it being a bigger speaker with better parts.
@@ZeroFidelity thank your for the feedback¡
Warm? Smooth? Strong mid-range? Strong depth of field? CHEAP!? SOLD!!!
Don’t forget ugly. But that’s just my opinion.
Check the last minutes part w the three in line.
Near that middle one the two sides are shining.. 😅
