Do it like me, watch video go to the mat and try one technique and drill this with your buddy’s. If this works like it allways will, go watch another video.
Thank you for making white-belt-friendly contents for white belt like me. Now I'm spending my time everyday to watch your video (after returning from the gym) and apply it on the mat.
I wish my coaches were like you and warn us to get the position but don't crank submissions like this. Instead I have guys that crank so hard I have to yell tap.
These geniuses give the most helpful LIFE SAVING advice and they do it quick in a fair easy to understand manner for your everyday Joe Shmoe. For when your stuck between a rock and a hard place and don't feel so safe!
Thank you thank you thank you thank you. So many moves for me are based on using strength instead of using technique when rolling this gives me 1) more motivation to keep on rolling more and more and 2) Prevents me from gassing out in minutes. Thanks brother 👊🏻🙏
Liking this a lot. My regular newbie kimura attack has a new "sting" for unsuspecting fellow newbies...lol... I hope! Now... can't wait to try it out! Great advice at the end too guys... total respect.
First off your channel is awesome. My question is my joints tend to be really stiff because of old military injuries, so I find when I'm rolling I feel like a beached whale. What can I do so I don't feel so awkward when I'm on my back. I feel like its hard to get my legs wrapped example like when trying to do x guard or something.
I had to laugh when you did the mirror (from right to left). I my right so dominant that using the left side feels like writing with the wrong hand--it's stupidly clumsy. It was so bad that my instructor always told me to put my right arm behind my back (karate not grappling). I got strangely proficient at one-armed sparring.
Hi chewy thanks for your continued content it has really improved my Bjj would you be able to show escapes from the mounted triangle and wrist locks from a straightened armbar
Once I lock this up, I'm very conscious of where my body is. If I can get my body perpendicular or more to the opponent, the arm is mine without any need to torque it at all. The position does all the work.
Ill try it when i get passed my rib injury. One question i do have is what should I focus on working out in a gym to help my jiu jitsu? Pretty much just working back, core, deadlifts, and swimming for now with the occasional bi/tricep and shoulder workouts
Lifting is great. Building more hip extension and strong upper back muscles to counter act all of our hip flexion and rounding of the back. But outside of the gym the biggest things I would say is diet and rest. Yoga and stretching can be very good too.
But the guy has another arm, which in this presentation is 100% unused. But will be the main problem to successfully be able to apply the Kimura grip. Unfortunately you skip that part. Usually people lock both their arms with their elbows into your thighs and hands on the hips. I'm not sure if the pull with the leg will break the free arms lock so he really loses the balance/posture.
Nice details. Do you think this is feasible if someone posts on your hip/belt to stand up for a standing pass? Obviously, the timing would have to be pretty spot on, but it seems like it should still work. Thoughts?
Chewie, thanks for this. One question...when you push the hand in and shift to the side whilst pulling him forward with your legs, isn't he posting with the other arm ? Because that would make it very hard to break posture. For this reason, should we be pushing both hands in? Hope that makes sense...thanks again
If you do the side crunch and then pull while pinning his other hand. It creates an angle that makes it hard for the opponent to posture. Once the hand is forced to post on the mat. You then have your moment of opportunity.
Good stuff Chew. Question. How do your opponents other arm effect this technique? If he posts it quick, or he's posturing up with both arms on your hips, is it viable? And can you use your other arm to help break down their posture as you pull in with your legs? Thanks, man.
If you keep the arm tight to the body and immediately move as the person's hand is forced to post. You should be able to prevent them from locking the arms together and defending.
Hello my name is andy im from tulsa ok and i have a problem, i have been do bjj for 6 months now. When i was on vacation about 4 weeks ago, i tore my ligements in my foot and was wondering if i should still train or quit. If i can still train how long should i stay off the mats
Andy Saldivar Honestly I would wait untill you fully recover, if you rush in to training before you're fully healed you could end up injurying yourself again. It could even end up being a permenant injury if you don't fully heal.
Jiří Wehle well i went with a specialist and he said to start walking again to a lest wait 3 week but what i need to know is how long show i wait and would it affect my training
Anyone feel free to comment but I've been doing bjj for almost 2 months with no gi (I train gi and no gi classes) and it's about time I buy one now but I don't know the first thing about gi's and need help, I'm a male 16 and don't have a whole Lotta money but I won't hesitate to spend what I must for a decent gi or brand, what should I look for as far as brand, material, size, color, price, websites?? Thanks
Venum are good quality and not to pricey, Tatami are also great and good on the wallet. These day I like Wartribe but they are more expensive. Hyperfly make great lightweight gis. I would go with a Venum elite in black. I choose black because its way easier to clean. It's almost a certainty that I will get blood on any brand new white Gi and here in China it is not the easy place to get white clean without bleach. I would also consider if I want to do comps, after all they don't let you use all colours. I would buy direct from their websites if not MMA warehouse has some good Gis and often a few deals.
I'd recommend either Fuji or Gameness. Both brands make good quality gis for fairly cheap (~$100). You're probably best off just getting a white gi for your first one, since it's the most traditional color. If you really want a colored gi then you can get a blue one. I would stay away from other colors for your first gi since some tournaments/ schools don't allow them. Each brand has their own sizing chart you can use to select the right size for you. Fighter's Market is a really good website if you live in the US or Canada. You can also check with your school to see if they get special discounts on any gis and to try on gis so you can get an idea of what size you take.
Shane Stevens Sorry to hear that man. As a white belt, I'm always extra careful due to my lack of refined (read any lol) technique. Had a fellow white belt in an Americana submission scenario and all the while I had it locked in... I was saying, "You okay?" while slowly applying the finish. Respect is essential. Hope you've recovered mate...
Is the guy really not going to be posting on your chest when you try to just pull him with your legs? The posture break is missing something but pulling at an angle is a good tip
Not really, IMO. It's part of jiu-jitsu. Try to break their posture and dislodge their arms if they're doing that, or transition into a submission/sweep. It's hard to dig your elbows into someone's thighs if they've just broken your posture.
Gotta agree with Jeremy Fuller - it's a legit technique. Remember, there's a difference between pain and injury: someone digging in their elbow is just pain, ignore it if you can until you can use it to transition or break their posture. Assuming they're only doing it on one side, they're pretty much giving you a perfect opportunity to slip them into a leg triangle choke. If they're doing it on both sides at once, they have no support to stop you breaking their posture.
"Adam?"...
"Adam" - Adam
dude, i dont know adam, but he has to be one of my favorite persons ever
Please stop making these awesome videos, I've other stuff to do, like work, eat, sleep, i can't spend all the day watching your videos.
Sherif Sameh Trainy, Eaty, Sleepy.

My boss is watching over my shoulder right now.
Yes you can.
That wookie will tear your arm off! Thankyou Chew-Jitsu, great content as always.
Thank you for making white-belt-friendly contents for white belt like me. Now I'm spending my time everyday to watch your video (after returning from the gym) and apply it on the mat.
Thanks for the lesson! I was able to get my first submission using this technique.
do you still train after 5 years?
I wish my coaches were like you and warn us to get the position but don't crank submissions like this. Instead I have guys that crank so hard I have to yell tap.

Your channel is a gift my dude. I met Renato once, he also gave my professor a black belt.
Finally kimura from guard!! I love this demonstration of this move. I’m shorter so triangles aren’t my thing. This move is sneaky and discreet
Adam "Jazz hands" Wilson.. Lol. Great details Chewy.
Thanks for that basic posture break to get to kimura
Thank you thank you thank you thank you. So many moves for me are based on using strength instead of using technique when rolling this gives me 1) more motivation to keep on rolling more and more and 2) Prevents me from gassing out in minutes. Thanks brother 👊🏻🙏

Good video
Thank you Chewy. That is a great detail that I was missing regarding pushing my elbow into his shoulder
Find myself looping the first 9 seconds while staring at Mr. lovely assistant Adam Wilson
this is going to enhance my game so much
Lovely stuff !! As the whitest of white belt this definitely looks a move I could use and more importantly remember :-)

i went to one class and i want more of this. i was fucking helpless; it was fantastic.
Hi,

Thanks Chewy!
The look on his face when he says "it comes real quick"
Great, nice and simple! Thank you for sharing.
Nice break down, Thanks 🙂
I saw it here first! Thanks from Texas.
Brilliant move,thank you 😃👍😃.
Hi chewy thanks for your continued content it has really improved my Bjj would you be able to show escapes from the mounted triangle and wrist locks from a straightened armbar
👍💯 for you ! Extremely good demonstrate.
That was an awesome new thing to try!

I appreciate this. Thank you, sir.
Great instruction.....
I came here for great bjj advice and everything adam said
Thanks man, great video! If you don't mind me asking, what is the brand of the gray gi you are wearing?
Good stuff. Thanks.
What is the color of Adam's belt? Olive green??
Step up from red belt
This is the kind of BJJ I like , not those crazy guards , due to my small hands I gave up kimuras from guard XD
Oooohhhh I like I like will definitely try this.
"Adam..Adam" I love it))
How could you pull him in when he has a straight arm on your torso? would he be able to prevent getting pulled in?
“I’m not gonna focus on pushing so much. I’m gonna be more focused on twerking.”
Dang Adam about time you smiled
Wow, love this !! Brand new guy here. Oss.
Ill try it when i get passed my rib injury. One question i do have is what should I focus on working out in a gym to help my jiu jitsu? Pretty much just working back, core, deadlifts, and swimming for now with the occasional bi/tricep and shoulder workouts

Yasir Qureshi, if he posts, immediately overlook that arm. Either way, your objective of dealing with that annoying technique is achieved.

Is that blood on Adam's gi his or someone else's?

Jiří Wehle okay thank you for the advice it help alot man i didnt know what to do
Andy Saldivar No problem, hope you get better soon.

if you're on top, how do you escape that Kimora?
Tee slogan : "crunch & twist"
if they defend by holing the gi go to the omaplata sweep
Why do you use the fingertape. Iam in BJJ for a few weeks now but i dont get it why people tape their fingers. Is it because of damage or something)
Yeah, if you keep training for next few years your fingers will be.. fucked up hahah
When you stuff the guy's hand to your hip can you go into a wrist lock?
Awesome!!
Hey Chewie, Is twerking your whole upper body the same as twerking with your lower body? I'm just curious seen as I can't twerk either way...
Haha. I said torque and torquing. But it sure as hell did sound like twerking.
Wow that's brutal! I love it, but white belts always wrench on these moves. I've had a subluxation from a similar move :(
Shane Stevens Sorry to hear that man. As a white belt, I'm always extra careful due to my lack of refined (read any lol) technique.
