I had to watch it twice. The first time, I lost about 5 times the staring contest against Adam only to realize I didn't pay enough attention to Professor Chewjitsu, then I watched it again.
0:46 - Scissor sweep 1:58 - Kimura/Hip-bump sweep 3:39 - Pendulum sweep 5:28 - Reverse grapevine Doing this for study purpose ! im at my 6th class and I can see my rolls improving thanks to you !
@@djeq721 i don't know if it was said to me, but you're right on time sir. I need some motivation at this moment because i've been stuck at the same level for 1 year and i took a little pause. Lets go back
This is so much more fun to watch after a few months into the game. Thanks for being part of my foundation also love the advice you give to people whether its bjj or life lol
Really great stuff ! I've been following you for quite some time, and I'm never disappointed I'm a judoka from France, and even if I don't train BJJ, I love grappling in general and I always find your videos very cool
I love the second one, even as a total beginner in Bjj I've used it many times against bigger, heavier guys and it works wonders! 💪 Thank you for your instructions and great videos!
I kind of figured this out on my own. I knew it must have a name already. If I can get to half guard, then I can get to this. It works pretty well for me. At least against my peers.
@@untilvalhalla7854 Right. The move feels super natural. That is a big downside though.i get smashed in half guard on the reg when attempting to get the sweep.
Just started my first session yesterday and loved it! I'm already pumped for my next session. Just want to say thanks Chewie for the videos, it gave me the jump to start my bjj journey 👍
I really appreciate these sweeps. I’m starting to catch some shit from my rolling partners because I only know the butterfly sweep, but I usually find myself in full guard, not butterfly.
The direction you drive them needs to be perpendicular to their leg. Otherwise they have too much base support. I forget to do it all the time and get reminded to fix my technique.
@Andrew Onymous that's the thing, that don't react. They're just too big to off balance. I have no problem getting the sweep to work on people my size. I guess that's why they have weight classes right?
I used the reverse grapevine in class the other day! The guy I was rolling with literally stopped and said, “woah, what was that.” I actually didn’t land the sweep from there because I started laughing, but it seems to hold up in practice for sure haha
Hello Nick , i commented your Last Video But i think you just didnt See it. Here another try: Hello Nick , im following you Quite a Long time and Really Enjoy watching your Vids and respect you as a Person. I‘m a blue belt, 21 Years Old and from Germany. I’m looking Forward to spend some of my vacation (next year february ) in USA , thinking about 2 weeks. If it is possible i want to Train this two weeks in your gym. How much does it cost?
I would suggest either emailing him or even calling the gym. Him and his staff have always been great about replying to emails. And He likely has people on staff at the gym that assist with this kind of thing. RUclips comments isn’t going to be a great place to inquiry about this IMO. But maybe you’ll get lucky lol.
Chewy has said before that his gym is open to someone passing through. Fans can visit and train. He's not a fan of drop in fees for that sort of thing. Also, if you're on the mailing list... like the other guy said, an email there is your best chance to get a quick response. Or try a dm on Instagram
I’m 38 and want to try bjj. I’m making life changes. I’m getting braces, working out and getting out of debt. Locally I have Gracie Humana, Charles Gracie and renzo Gracie. Does it matter what gym? I don’t want to compete I just want to learn and get in better shape. Is there a special mouth guard I need for braces?
Hey man mi a 13 year old teenager I have Sign up for bjj I start tomorrow I suffer from acne all over my face and very bad on my back do you have any a voice for me tomorrow 😁
Chewy, I’m struggling right now with open guard passing. I’m a bigger guy (240) and I’m just getting stretched out like a hooker on a Friday night at 12:00am. HELP ME!!!
I completely fail to see how the first three sweeps works, they have to let it happen. I guarantee that I could not get it to work. It looks like the raw power required to make it work is a lot. Maybe I'm just used to people 20kg (40lbs) heavier than me, My experience of people are they are like rocks and hard to move unless they are lighter than me, maybe I could move them but the effort required is just too much. EDIT: a video showing the move used against a resisting person would be nice to see, perhaps It'll show something I'm not understanding. My only other hypothesis is that I'm just too weak :b
I had to watch it twice. The first time, I lost about 5 times the staring contest against Adam only to realize I didn't pay enough attention to Professor Chewjitsu, then I watched it again.
Same. Lots of rewinding for me because I kept missing stuff.
😂
Adam is gold lol
Lmao he doesn’t blink wtf
😂😂😂😂Adam is my fav part of these vids!! Dudes hilarious!
Did you catch the motorboat action he made hahaha around 5:41?
Yeah I have to agree 100% the silent Jazz hands killer is the man lol

I've used the second sweep against people who leaned too far back, but hadn't realized it could also be applied to people crowding forward. Very cool.
It’s funny cause I’ve had the opposite experience, I’ve only ever used it for people crowding
I love Adam's face when Chewy says he used it to get some "really big guys off me" 2:24
Chewie..... Did you get...... Motorboated at 5:40?
100%!! Adam motor boated him! Lol
😂
Adam for the win!
What any normal straight male would have done if they had chew Jitsu in front of them
Yes very much so lmao. I missed that the first time
This is the best eight minutes of BJJ instruction on RUclips. Straight facts, no filler.
tried all of them and so far my favorite is the pendulum sweep it’s so easy to do while very effective!
Good video. Adam is lowkey Penn and Teller funny- see him shoot for a motorboat choke at 5:40 😂
The funny part is I miss these jokes while I'm teaching. I only realize them when I go back and see the video. Haha.

Always good to get some ne-waza in.
Why is judo so popular in France?
@@milanz2265 I don't know, it was importated quickly from Japan, and it's just a cool sport to train, without much equipement needed
France also developed a unique fighting style Savate which centers around grappling and kicks.
I read it was developed for ship fighting.
It cracks me up how serious your uke is 😠🤣
Watched these over and over in slow motion. Excited to try these out more!
Army combatives we always called the pendulum sweep the missed armbar sweep. It’s one of my favorites, that and the flower

Great stuff. That reverse grapevine/butterfly is so helpful with the big smashers.
Adam! Jazz hands, motor boating non blinking monster! LOL
Thanks man, the transitions from the scissor sweep movement is a real help.
Great video can’t wait to get to class tomorrow to try some of it
5:38...that motorboat. HAHA Great video Chew!
Never seen sweep#4. Thank you!
I absolutely love the butterfly sweep with one leg out. I didn't even think of doing it with a full grapevine. So dope

Adam doing the motorboat to Chewy had me dying. You motorboatin sob, you old sailor you.

Really well assembled and explained Chewy. Thank you.

Awsome thanks
Thank you for exposing me to Adam's staredown.
I've tried the hip bump sweep against bigger people and they didn't budge an inch. It was like trying to off balance a small car

When Adam sits still, he looks like a PNG you overlayed onto the video.
So for the last sweep what happens if they tripod? Like both feet on the ground but have their face buried in your chest. Can you still do that sweep?
