"...Little detail created by John Danaher..." Renzo gave credit to his student. The legend basically admits that he also learns from his student. Renzo is a true legend...
Amen brother. Even black belts can learn from white belts. BJJ continues to evolve.
m.ruclips.net/video/U9kUZa8EsPQ/видео.html
I was taught that little detail by Master Carlos Machado 20 years ago
would you f*ckin dummies stop with the legend stuff every single time?!? Enough...Craig Jones is the only legend ever...
❤
Sometimes he sounds Brazilian sometimes he sounds like a really drunk New Yorker.
Almost sounds like Christopher Walken
Im Brazilian and even when he's speaking portuguese he sounds kinda drunk for me
he sounds brazilian.
PaseoDeLaEstrella 😂
@@viniciusbrazao5763 He sounds like Sergio Malandro. Iêié!! Glu glu!
I’m 45 and just getting back into BJJ. Lessons like this keep me so excited to go to the next class.
I have been almost doing this but I was pressuring the leg with my elbow on the wrong side ( the same side as I was pressuring the hip with my knee ). A couple of great details here that will make a lot of difference in popping those legs open.
Royce showed this same pass, with the foot detail, way back in the late 90's early 2000's. Eventually all techniques come full circle.
I've seen catch techniques for breaking guard that look very similar as well, but once the knee was across they went for a underhook on the head probably without a gi it's much harder to hold him down without collars.
The summary at the end really made this! Thanks @renzo
Thank you Professor! My daughter just started her BJJ journey and we watch videos together.
Thanks!!! Your experience is worth gold!
ive seen this before but totally forgot when i was playing in a high level guard
If you ever have the chance to meet Renzo, do so. One of the most amazingly charismatic guys you will ever encountert!
Renzo is awesome! Thanks Professor!
Fantastic tips thank you professor
THNX... It is really useful. I just started bjj, and in this style not always winner position if you are above. It is Not easy to go to sidelong
This video was god sent Im going to try that tomorrow night. I have judo class and during nawaza i go up against a bjj guy i run into this scenario all the time
Very cool video, thanks for posting this. I wonder about your opponent having the ability to thread their arm through your right leg since it is so far forward and that arm is not being controlled. I am sure that Master Renzo has an answer for that, but it would be interesting to see it. Thanks again!
My thoughts exactly
He explained it i think
If they do that it only helps you pass
Super helpful content my guy!
Merci beaucoup
Well done video. Great instruction! Thank you!
3:11 is the best part...he addresses the risk
1:40 is the best example of this
Beautiful - great 👍🏼 details...
Thank you very much
Renzo the man
renzo is awesome
when i learned this guard break my teacher had us pin the arm on the same side we put our leg up first so the opponent couldnt underhook the leg and sweep to the side, Renzo doesn't seem to be worried about this. Is he doing something different to prevent the underhook of the leg that im not seeing or is he attempting to get up quickly does the underhook wont matter?
Yes, he said you need to lift the knee that corresponds to your straightened arm. You only expose yourself if you lift the other leg first. It's funny to see how these little details that Renzo mentions are completely absent from other people's guard break/pass tutorials, even the newer videos by Rickson don't seem to take all these variables into consideration. I'm a huge Rickson fan since he's the first BJJ player I ever heard of and what got me into BJJ, but his tutorials seem half-assed.
@@retardno002 thanks for sharing your input. I was curious how Rickson’s instructional is with his invisible JJ. Curious if Henry Akin’s instructional‘s are similar. I’ve been seeing a lot of advertisement for Henry Aiken and his Rickson JJ.
@@ChinoV I didn't buy any instructionals from Rickson or Henry but from what I've seen on RUclips it looks like Henry is the more articulate instructor. I guess with Rickson you really need to feel it in person to get the magic.
@@retardno002 I’ve seen some of Henry’s video clips, and he does articulate some details, but thought Rickson would have some additional details. Guess you do have to feel it for yourself. Thanks for the reply 🤙🏼
this is very helpful
Such a good video
the MOMENT i stand that one leg up my opponent automatically goes to sweep me. am I supposed to move quickly or just continue to post if he bridges me?
If your hips beat his hips he has nothing and he will actually help you pass if he tries it. Think about the mini battles within each position. If you win most min battles youll win overall
This is not 1+1 =2. The techniques needs time to undertand and even more time to master it.
Beside you need to adapt it to you.
There is a more detailed version of this technique that even gets you to side mount afterwards. You are supposed to control collar with one hand hip with the other. You have to make sure you aren't leaned over you wanna stay postured up pretty good not putting a lot of weight on him or leaning into him. Do this while keeping him more to the right, get that tension in your arm get your grips right where he wont move around too much. Now that he's not moving a whole lot your other leg should be pretty far back. check the position at 2:29 does it look like a sweep is open? Remember he shouldn't be able to get to his side because your collar control.
Thank you🙏❤️
Amazing
But what if he underhooks the ankle that you stand up on first?
3:13
People have actually done this to me when trying this pass and swept me. What is he doing that prevents his opponent from doing this?
I think it's a mix of different things:
1. He pins the shoulder with his knee
2. His heel points away from his opponent
3. His weight is on that foot / knee
In my understanding, to sweep someone from there, you have to get the foot across your upper body or at least away from the ground. All these three points together will prevent that I think. Hope that helped, feel free to ask more precisely on more occuring problems
@@AlexWehpunkt do you know what that sweep is called?
making it to work is really hard, as the opponent will always turn to maintain guard and you won't be able to be at an angle when you stand up with one knee. This puts you in danger of getting swept.
Passagem top
Nice
Porra Renzo faz vídeo em pt pra nois é chucro
(ativa as legendas)
Osss
is the threat of the opponent grabbing with his left hand to Renzos right pant leg not a worry?
Merci.
It seems like it would be an easy entry into omoplata on the side that you stand knee up if opponent cross grips the sleeve....???
I like it
What about grabbing your right leg/ankle?
But aren’t you offering an omoplata sweep or submission?
O cara me raspa muito fácil aí se ele for esperto
OSS SHOW DE BOLA
What kind of person would give this video a thumbs down?
Isn't he giving up the leg to the undertook this way?
😂😂😂😂😂
Porque não fazer em nosso idioma?
when putting your front leg that close to ypur opponents arm without securing it in any way, wouldnt you put yourself in great danger of beeing swept downwards?
Gênio....por isso que e meu idolo
what next
If you start to talk with a Brazillian accent, your opponent will open their guard
I didn't know Joe Pesci taught jiu jitsu!
Renzo always has small tweaks to make a big difference
se a mao esquerda nao estiver controlando bem o quadril vai tomar omoplata

Brilliant!!!
Achei meio vulnerável. Testarei.

lol. Danaher did NOT invent that leg swivel to bring the back leg up. I learned it 20 years ago.

I think I’m ready for the ufc now
yes tickets are still available to buy.
I want to wear a pink gi.
too bad ufc is no gi
Would this work on a bank’s security guard? Asking for a friend
It did
I don't think bsg would close the guard, but if he does.....believe me, that will work.
@@laurentube76 I don't think it will work, before you get close to him he'll go for a RNC, which stands for "Rear Naked Cap yo ass".
Renzo just tells his opponent to open their guard or face certain death
So many good details. Props for crediting others' innovations, as well. Fantastic, concise tutorial.
First off, that was a quality instruction, of a slick move, by the legend himself. Secondly, that production quality is spot on. Loved the walkthrough sequence at the end! Thank you 🙌🏻
Quem dubla o Renzo é o Sérgio malandro🤭
🤣
Kkkkkkkkkkkkk melhor comentário
Renato Laranja é o dublador oficial!
Kkķkkkkk fantastic !!!!! Terrible pronuciation!!!!
When you want to hear a Brazilian accent with a NYC twist.
I don't want to know how Renzo opens guards with his tip. Just too much
9 likes in 2 years is not enough for this top tier comment.
Master Renzo, if you can read this Thank you very much for the technique that you share with us. Everything is very much appreciated. I have taken these details and will begin drilling them. THank you again.
UAU!
Love it , this has help me a lot against a bigger opponent!!!
He's beyond good this guy is a God! of brazilian jiu jitsu. He never executed a techniques that don't work.
How do you get past the leg once you're up tho?
Renzo, sou faixa-preta do Marcos Schubert.
When you go sideways while you're still in their guard, wouldn't it be easy for them to sweep you?
Ninjamaster77 very difficult to sweep someone if you can’t break their posture (arm position and angle prevents this). I’m assuming you are thinking of sweeping to the side of the close knee, most sweeps are shut down by not being able to get posture and the pendulum/flower sweep is shut down by not being able to underhook the far leg or create an angle due to the arm blocking them
If he used his opposite leg, it's easy to get knocked off balance n get swept. With tht leg hes kinda driving his leg into his hip on a anglr which is breaking his guard and it's harder to sweep on the same side he's got the arm cuz it's a strong posture
No, as noted, just keep posture.
I love that he gives props to someone else for adding the adjustment when standing..thats class.
This to me just asks for the opponent to grab that wrist and arm bar...
A guarda do Wallid você não passa, né Hiena? Hahahah
At 2:25 you can see Kron Gracie playing with a soccer ball.
lol well observed
are you sure that is him?
saw that too
You're on the ball son!
@@yevgeniyzharinov7473 If it's not Kron it's his doppelgänger.
But what if the opponent grabs your foot as soon as you place it forward?
Jacob Berg If you drill it and get quick with the pass it won‘t matter.!
Also, for every move you make, your oppenent has a remedy, if he is knowledgeable enough. Still, however, his perpendicular and squatting posture seems to be a good preemptive measure for your opponent's heel grabbing. You will be allright and have an ample time to go over to another move, before he can do anything with your heel, also whatever happens, you are out of his closed guard and that was the main theme of this clip.
if you pay attention he is on side and when he put his first leg up he twist his hip for a reason
100% dude shit happeneds all the times
Great now please demonstrate this on a Prison Guard.
Great technique!
Great technique, love the sideways posture!
this still doesn't work for me . people just keep correcting their angle from the bottom and I can never get out. how do you keep him from moving with you as you take a slanted angle and he follows.
Not every technique works for everyone. I trained w/ Renzo and don't use this pass...however a couple other I learned from him are my staples.
