  • In this video I show you how to bench test your winch motor. This test is something that can also be done on your winch mounted to your bumper. This is also useful if your solenoids fail on the trail you can hotwire your winch motor in a pinch. Thanks for watching and don't forget to slap the thumb.

Thank you so much! I was clueless how to bench test my anchor windlass. I had no idea about the three poles. as one of the poles was just the case - I have only the two poles to the brushes. But your video showed me I need to connect the OTHER brush pole to the grounded case. I was stumped as the two brush poles are short to each other. (lots of sparks!)

appreciate the upload. A friend ran into guy pushing a cart toward the scrapyard. what caught his eye was the cable unspooled and wrapped around it in a wad. Guy said he found it on the road . Gave him $20 for it. I brought home, found the vid sure enough, works fine. Appreciate the procedure. Going to have to mount it too something before I can spool it right. I have an s10 4x4 that I had mounted a bigger winch bumper someone left here and had a 5000 lb mounted underneath and I used it moving stuff around but it became bound because I couldn't see the cable and bound up and killed it, don't want this one to do that. I was so stoked when it worked. A motor for this thing would be hard to find.
