    Today's video is focused on how to easily fix an upside down backup camera display on Ford vehicles, the Ford Escape in specific.
    There are a quick series of fixes for reverting the inverted backup camera display error on Ford Sync 2 vehicles. This was a question from Thomas, and although it is fairly common, we wanted to do a posting showing the options you may have if you're experiencing this as well.
    These options involve a Master Reset via Sync 2, Disconnecting the Battery, and then finally just replacing the camera itself.
    Rather than pay full price for the factory camera, check out the aftermarket alternative by Dorman which many drivers have said works extremely well.

    I have a 2013 Ford Taurus Limited. I thought it was a system issue, but it wasn't. So I did all of those steps and 3 was the solution to the problem. The camera itself is the problem. I went on Amazon and found the exact fitting camera for $60. It came the next day, I installed it and that was that. Problem solved. So if your camera screen flips, just replace the camera. I hope this helps my fellow brothers. Note: Don't turn your old camera 180. Yes it works if you do it, but right is left and left is right on your camera and you will be confused as heck. Just a warning.

    This video helps! My mother's 2014 Ford Focus w Sync 2 has the same issue with an upside down view and no guidelines.

    Will master reset cause any damage to the sync system?

  • @uhm6577

    What if, when you open the hatch, it displays after that? It'll be upside down every time unless you open the back hatch before backing up. Then it displays correctly.

    What about a screen message that says "Rear view camera not available"? My rear view camera only seems to work for a few moments after the car is initially started, but then displays the not available message.
    Thank you for your helpful videos.

    On a 2011 ford edge the camera was upside down, I did the master reset first and it didn’t work so I unhooked the battery and that didn’t work. So for the hell of it, I tried the master reset again and surprisingly it work.

      Oh awesome! Yeah it's hit or miss sometimes, but glad that worked and you didn't need to get the new camera assembly! Some nice cash saved hopefully!

    If your image is up side down, it usually means you have the wrong camera. If you look at the camera, its mounted so that the end you connect the wiring harness to is either pointing to the right or left side of the car. You need the other one. They look identical, so you have to go by part number.
    Also, you can't just install a camera and that's it. It has to be calibrated with a factory scan tool, or something equivalent. You can check by putting the car in reverse and turning the steering wheel back and forth. If the lines on the screen move when you turn the wheel, it should be fine. If the lines don't move, then you have to program the camera.
    Run a network test and go through the list of modules. Look for one labeled IPMB. Image processing module. B means its the rear camera. That's the one you need to calibrate.

      Wrong. The camera on many Ford vehicles will flip for some reason.. Nobody seems to know why, and the fix seems to just be replacing the camera. Nobody is changing their backup camera and THEN have it go upside down, it's the original camera that suddenly stops giving you a right side up image

    Owner of a 2014 Ford Taurus for almost 6 years now. This car has been the best vehicle I have ever owned. Unfortunately my backup camera flipped upside down about 2 years ago. I did the factory reset as you described in your video it did not fix my issue 😔 So if that didn't fix it what other options do I have?? Plz & ty

    I had this problem. Replaced the camera and then the new one started doing the same thing 2 years later right after the warranty ran out.

    Be careful pulling the panel down if your trunk hatch is automatic with the button to close on it. It's attached to this panel and you'll need to unplug it before you fully can remove the panel.

    Any chance this issue is related to fuses?

    • @HowToEscapeDIYTipsandReviews
      @HowToEscapeDIYTipsandReviews  10 месяцев назад

      Hey there @FactsOverFear- there is always the chance, but I think it's unlikely. A fuse shouldn't affect the wiring or data transfer in a system. It's merely an overload protection. Are you experiencing the upside down screen?

    • @AT-wl9yq
      @AT-wl9yq 7 месяцев назад

      Cameras don't get power directly from the battery. If a fuse is blown, you would lose power to everything that shares it. So, if you have other things that don't work, its likely a fuse blew. That said, its always a good idea to check all of your fuses whenever you suspect an electrical problem. Its quick and easy to do, and sometimes you get lucky. You have 2 fuse boxes. One under the hood and one inside the car. Always check both.
