Sam Westphalen
In the absence of a drummer, Sam hits his guitar a lot in an attempt to get as much music out of the instrument as possible. His RUclips videos have reached over 3 million views with an overwhelmingly positive response. He can be spotted on the streets of Sydney, earning more than minimum wage by playing guitar and receiving money from generous passers-by. He can also write about himself in the 3rd person when necessary.

Dimebag would agree that was metal as FUCK!
dime would probably love everything that everyone is doing with his music. He would just be proud that it is still living on.
Guitar Fingerer Completely right!! Dime were a musician before to be a metal guitar heroe. And also he was one of the coolest and the sweetest guy in this industry. Rip dime, we don't forget you...
Is this the new ASMR Metal genre?
Greca Intifada yaaaaasss
🤣
How can anyone not like this kid? His talent is amazing. I love that he laughs during most videos. He's still having fun .Life hasn't broke him yet.
life doesnt always break everybody. unfortunately alot fall victim to it.
Awesome ! The harmonics were insane haha
Talent level is over 9000

Pantera - The Art Of Shredding lullaby edition.
Vocals are always the best part here :D
Talent knows no boundaries! You are amazing! Keep it up young man!
this guy is a freakin band by his own
Any time I see Sam, it's an immediate "like".
The quality of the recording is not up to the former level. You need to talk to the sound techo about this. Maybe he is using the wrong kind of mike or their distance from the guitar is wrong. Also i understand your singing style and i know you do it on purpose for entertaining effect and i love it. People who don't understand should listen to more of your work so that they have an idea that the singing part of the performance is not supposed to be taken in a serious manner. Keep up the excellent work Sam. And make sure the sound quality returns to the former, better standards.
shut up
Hass Aface Right on brother, I hate constructive criticism too.
AdstarAPAD sounds perfect to me maybe shouldn't listen through shitty speakers
He's jealous lmao your sound was perfect for what you do... perfect blend of room mic and upclose and perfect amount of compression but not too much to where it squashes the guitars tone to where it can't breathe, in this video you used the perfect amount of compression, just enough to allow you to get clear and present chords in the lower (and higher) register while being able to maintain having enough sustain for the melodic runs and licks between chord changes and as the bass line progresses but the tone of the guitar is still retaining its natural acoustic tone staying true to the acoustics of the guitar with the 2 mics maybe 2 condenser mics in stereo or 1 condenser further away as the room mic and a dynamic/ribbon up close with both of them either mixed in stereo or both in mono and a possible DI from an internal acc guitar piezo pick up?? Maybe idk with some EQ and warm vintage compression making sustaining/resonant tone for the guitar all while playing all the percussion hits on the guitar Simultaneously in the pocket at perfect dynamic level with the vocals being whispered softly with a powerful vocal mic possibly picking up the room sound is a pretty dope sounding set up dude.. especially since he did all that live and was probably just laid back and effortless for him... considering what his intentions were for this video/cover his sound was fucking incredible man... shut up you jealous poser and respect this man's incredible talent the sound quality was great
@@samwinn2774 the mic was clipping
yes but can he play smoke on the water?
Sam, I think Dimebag would be really pumped about this. Good covers take a song, absorb the melody and return something recognisable but new. You should be proud.
Spot on Mr. Westphalen!
2:15 absolute flawless transition, bloody hell

👏👏👏👏
Killer!
Does anyone know how he gets those sounds at 0:38? They're sort of like a pinch harmonic
Fucking awesome!
What's with that URL on that guitar?
To much compression..
:C
Can't hear guitar like on previous videos..
Yeah, the audio's been fucked up for the last videos.
I dont like your singing but you play the guitar very well, love it
Loreto Hidalgo do you know what song this is ? The singing is rugged originally. It's all about the power of the Darrel's
Nice one dude, your a very talented dude. Can you do LoG- Something to die for or Pantera's Walk? That would be awesome.
Would be awesome if you could do a cover of "Symphony of destruction" by Megadeth, amazing performance as always btw :)
I like how this guy makes Pantera songs actually listenable.
This dude's fucking nuts 🤘
Ýou play very well, Omfg. He's a monster
Please play Capillarian crest from mastodon...!!!

Mr. Rogers metal!
Love it . You Remind Me Of Chevy Chase.
insane, all i can say.
the ultimate Australian accent :D
I dare you cover Gorguts' Obscura !!!! That would be a killer!!!!
Yeah, the audio is terrible in this video for som reason. Amazing performance as usuall though.
I second this.
keep practice its hard to do what you do
Amazing playing! But I really don't get the whispering... Was somebody sleeping in the same room when you were recording this?
Please do symphony of destruction by megadeth please dude
Don't know if it's poor mic placement, but the audio is worse in this one than your other videos. Probably because all your other videos have a third mic near the neck, but this one doesn't, making the notes sound quieter. On another note, I'd love to see you do a Mastodon song like Oblivion, or anything by SOAD, like BYOB.
So... PRO!
never seen anything like that :)
