Great reaction! Morticia and Gomez are a great couple, they are widely acknowledged as the best marriage in fiction, even back in the 60's TV series. The sequel is worth watching, many consider it even better than this one.

Not only the best couple, but the best...Uh...How do I want to say this? They have the most gracious, welcoming, and accommodating way, toward any house guests, whether invited or not (sometimes to a fault!).

Addams Family was created before beatle juice because AF is based off a comic from decades ago.
Everyone wants a relationship like Gomez and Morticia. They may br strange but they know the meaning of family. They are essentially human but not completely and no they're not dead. Just fairly indestructible..lol.
The Addamses are a satirical inversion of the ideal 20th-century American family: an odd wealthy aristocratic clan who delight in the macabre and are seemingly unaware or unconcerned that other people find them bizarre or frightening.
Although most of the humor derives from the fact that they share macabre interests, the Addamses are not evil. They are a close-knit extended family. Morticia is an exemplary mother, and she and Gomez remain passionate towards each other. They are very supportive of their children. The family is friendly and hospitable to visitors; in some cases, it is willing to donate large sums of money to causes (television series and films), despite the visitors' horror at the Addamses' peculiar lifestyle.

I liked your assessment that the characters are better than the story in this movie.
Morticia and Gomez are relationship goals. The story of how they meet and how they get married in the original series is very romantic.
Before the day they get engaged, Morticia wore girl clothes all the time (similar to Wednesday's) and on the day of Gomez's wedding, she shows up with long tight black dress. Gomez breaks his previous engagement, and says to Morticia "You look ravishing in that dress". With a voice melting with love and looking into his eyes, Morticia responds "I'll never wear another". Then Gomez asks her to marry him. She never wears a different dress.
Also, the sequel is brilliant (Wednesday gets to SHINE) - Addams Family Values - but nothing has come close since.
Sadly Raul "Gomez" Julia died after filming Streetfighter. Otherwise it'd maybe be a trilogy!

I watched the series from the 60s when I was a child, and just two weeks ago I found out that these movies existed, I saw them and I loved them. I wait for your your reaction to the sequel

I used to think they were undead too when I was real young, but nah. Turns out they're just extremely Goth. Now the Munsters on the other hand are mostly undead. Marylin is the only human in the family, and Eddie is a werewolf, which makes him a regenerator.
Welcome ladies. I wish you success on your reaction channel. This is a good movie to begin with for the channel. The font is based on the signature of the creator, Charles Addams, a magazine cartoonist where the characters originated from his brilliant mind. The Addams Family are not dead but rather creepy, cookey, mysterious and spooky as the theme song from the 60s TV series says. There's Gomez and Morticia (husband & wife), Mama (Morticia's mother - a witch), Fester (Gomez's brother [a.k.a. "Uncle Fester"]), Wednesday & Pugsly (son & daughter), Lurch (a manservant or butler), Thing (the hand), and Itt (a.k.a. "Cousin Itt" who indeed speaks nothing but gibberish). The sequel is definitely worth watching as the newest member of the Addams Family is introduced (the new baby). Great 1st reaction. Make your channel as unique and entertaining as you both are. I'd like to recommend the action comedies "Red" (2008) and the sequel "Red 2" (2013) starring Bruce Willis. 🎥

Some members of the Addams Family are human.
I grew up with the original show and was skeptical of this movie. It surpassed my expectations by far. The acting carries it. The plot is kind of iffy, but the rest is amazing.

"Dr. Pinderschlaus" was affecting a German accent because at that time, for the past couple of decades, German education was considered superior to that available in the U.S. This may still be the case.

Plus, German psychiatrists have been a comedy archetype for decades, because Sigmund Freud was the father of psychoanalysis.
RE: the _Encanto_ comparisons:
I suppose you could say Gomez comes from like a distant branch of the Madrigal family tree; in a lot of versions, Grandmama is his mother. (Though not in this movie, oddly enough) it's all headcanon, as the Addams clan predates that movie by like 80 years.

CGI? It's 1991. They barely figured out how to do SOME of the T-1000 shots in T2! 😂

Well, it's not like they didn't have CGI. It existed in some form way back in the 70's. But yes, just because something is an effect doesn't make it CG. Remember that CGI stands for Computer Generated Imagery. It was commented on a scene with Thing that it was CGI even when the hand was real and the background was real. Most likely a blue screen with a prosthetic wrist.
All the effects were practical. No CGI was used.
the two new animated movies are pretty good too, though the character design is based off the old comic strip so some look a bit different

I think the weird credit style is adapted from the original comic by Charles Addams (named his strip family after himself), and it might be his signature and lettering look from there?

I really liked you two bantering back and fourth. I don't know what you haven't seen yet but watch the second Adams Family movie. Have you seen the marvel movies? You mentioned back to the future so I assume you've seen those. By the way the tall Frankenstein guy is named Lurch. This movie was based off a 1960's TV series of the same name. Who framed Roger Rabbit is a great funny movie as well. I'm a Star Wars fan so If you haven't seen the first six (The last recent three are terrible IMO) watch them in release order. That's about all the suggestions at the moment. Good luck. If you like morbid funny movies try Death Becomes her.
Oh, thank you for all the suggestion! We actually have seen Back to the Future and Star Wars (Big fan). Lua has seen all Marvel movies, I haven't seen all of them, just some. So maybe we can do that as well.

uuuh, the new star wars movies are terrible but the prequels aren't? WTH IS WRONG WITH YOU!? on a more serious note, in my opinion, star wars in general is some of the biggest shlock the scifi genre has to offer..... and the marvel movies are a hot candidate as a runner up

You say Beetlejuice is older but it's not. The Addams Family started out in the 1930s as a cartoon in the New Yorker, was a TV series in the 1960s, plus a cartoon on TV before they finally made this movie. So all of these characters created by Charles Addams were well established before Beetlejuice was even thought of.

Ngl, these two quickly became annoying with their repetitive and illogical assumption of the Addams being dead. Overall though, they're average when it comes to the video itself which is a plus.
The sequel is one of those rare occasions when a comedy sequel is better than the original, and is of the most underrated comedies of the 90s.

There is plenty to love in Addams Family Values -- not least our new characters. But for me, there is very little that can compare to the thrill I got from seeing Gomez & Fester dancing the Mamushka, in the theater.
The girl on the right who likes Gomez and Morticia's relationship has a Morticia like hair style. For Halloween she should definitely dress up as her.
Masterpiece...one of my fav parts is "Damn you Addams!" "Sorry about the window, George! Keep the ball! I have a whole bucket full!" lol

from this 2 movies. 3rd movie is a new cast new continuity. then 2 animated films. A TV movie, 2 live action TV shows and 2 animated TV shows and a stage show. quality varies. They also cameo on other shows such as Scooby Doo
I would say try 1 from each decade then you can compare casts.

original Addams Family is from the 60s The Movies, TV shows and cartoons all have different yet similar interpretations of it. Animation hitting closer to the original Comic strip it came from while Live action got to be more like how the story would have been if had the 60s been aloud to go uncensored.

Frankenstein's Monster is a brunette/black haired, and only green in cartoony styles. The original is a patchwork human from multiple people's bodies!

The concept began as a one-panel cartoon by Charles Addams and I don't believe the characters had names. The names and the catchy tune came from the sitcom series. Much of the comedy in this movie comes from it being an expansion of the quips in the tv show. (Most if not all of these are free on RUclips -

Yeah, originally, Addams wanted the son's name to be "Pubert," but the network said there was no way that would be allowed on the air, so he was overruled with "Pugsly."

Emos came from a subculture of goths around the late 90s early 2000s some may argue earlier but this is when they became the most prominent
Thing was played not by an actor but rather a concert pianist was hired because the director knew the job would be demanding and needed someone with athletic hands. To perform Thing he was usually kneeling on a wheeled cart with his arm in a green sleeve busily working his fingers as he was pushed around the set.
