The effect Dave is using is called a Talkbox and was used by Peter Frampton a lot but David Gilmour uses it majestically.

@SaeedReacts. to get technical it is an effects peddle the loops the sound of the guitar, through the tube into the mouth, then you alter the sound by changing the shape of your mouth this is the captured by the mic and routed to the amps, you can mimic this by putting your phones speaker part really close to your mouth play some music and start changing the shape of your mouth, of course it is not as effective as the real thing but you get the idea.

    • @jaycareaga9929
      @jaycareaga9929 16 дней назад

@@simply_psi Actually it takes the speaker out of the amp and runs the sound to the tube part of the sounds goes to the mic and part goes out to another speaker.

In every generation there are one or two musicians/bands that become timeless and live on forever while all the others from the same Era are lost to time. It is my belief that in 300 years people will still listen to Pink Floyd the way people listen to Beethoven, Bach, Mozart today. They are just on a level that no other band out today can come close to.

There are very few people who don't feel Pink Floyd in their souls when they give it a chance. Those people tend to come in two camps-- young people who are so used to short concise tracks, TikTok, short attention span. And people who are uncomfortable hearing this music because it does speak to their soul and they don't like feeling that. Those people eventually come around (my wife was one of them, the heartbeat that opens Dark Side of the Moon made her nervous initially). The short attention span people probably never will, maybe when they're older. Everyone else, gender, race, nationality... there is no "type" that enjoy this music. Just anyone who is able to feel and wants to feel will connect with it. There is some symbolism in this, "Keep Talking", are we only talking words and language? Or "talking" through other means, as David's talk box suggests, communication doesn't always have to be through words. We can connect in other ways.

What's amazing about Pink Floyd is outside of a few songs from DSOTM they got very little radio play. Cause they don'y have 4 beat 4 minute dance music or rock & Roll. yet they are #2 selling around the world in sells. DSOTM on the charts for 943 wks. People usually heard them from being over at some house sitting and listening to the music.

Great reaction to one of my favorite songs from the Pulse concert! I just love the groove throughout and you are right on the money with the theme. (Also, most reactors don't realize that Stephen Hawking is the voiceover in this song). I find the use of the talk box interesting; I usually think of it as a sort of raunchy addition to a song (think Joe Walsh or Bon Jovi). In "Keeping Talking', David Gilmour makes the talk box sound plaintive. :) For future reactions, I suggest 'Sorrow' from this same Pulse concert, or a song from the previous tour (A Delicate Sound of Thunder, 1988) called 'On the Turning Away').

From the same Pulse concert and same era, High Hopes is stellar.
Would suggest album versions first for the following songs:

In the US you call them "backup" singers when someone or something is a backup it's normally referring to something that's on standby Incase something goes wrong with the main thing.

      Yes, i understand the dilema
Those of the computer age want to hear computer noises and auto tune .
Those my age want to hear the human voice and the musical instruments.
Both are biased towards their own wants.
When performed and recorded well, the original gives the emotion and skill of the artists.
The remastered versions often strip the sound of emotion and feel, and are more about the sound technicians skill.
The technician / profucer can also remove whole sections they dont like and even add bits by other musicians and singers.
As with the Great Gig, early remakes altered the final vocal notes and melody.
Recent remakes have deleted those brilliant vocals completely.... as they are the vocalised notes of passing, they probably upset the Politically Correct.
