That’s why I went with the G4. I don’t like Samsungs quality control plus there is always a chance they can update your tv and totally change the picture quality. And ascetically I love the way the G series looks mounted flat on my wall.
No, this one is QDOLED Gen3 1500 nits panel. The biggest problem is I was expecting a 2000 nits panel because on the forums everyone was saying that in the US, the 65" was for sure 2000 nits panel. The biggest difference is full screen brightness 300 vs 200 roughly

Well, you got me to buy an S90D during black friday. I originally bought a C1 randomly as my first OLED, and your videos helped me push it to the max and love my time with it, and seeing these videos on your QD-OLED tv's managed to convince me to upgrade, going from 55" to a 65" as well which sweetens it. Hope to see plenty of video that help me fully push my new S90D as well and thanks for your passion!
Yeah I almost bought a 55 s90d with little research cuz I thought they all are qd-oleds. Glad I didnt, the deal wasnt even that good, it was more then a 55 c4.

People are used to rooting for a sports team and the other teams are the enemy. Why does that spill over into cars, TVs etc?? Buy the best TV for you and stop worrying about the brand. So ridiculous, comments like this, like he is getting paid by Samsung or something.
It’s known in the industry that last 5-6? years Samsung when it comes to TVs etc. as they tested the market of what is the line of “acceptable” in terms of how many people will return a tv. @@craighopkins4496 I agree only in color category, but that is just one category among many in image quality…and LG G4 kicks azz in almost everything else including image sharpness ,motion resolution and hdr tone mapping, and just amazing processing. I have G4 and a Samsung QDOLED. Also u can make g4 more colorful simply by bumping up color and maxing out warm color temp setting. A95L is over priced, has its own flaws and bugs that no one seems to like to mention 😂 and missing half of the gaming features that G4/samsung have. I was underwhelmed when I saw A95L in Best Buy, but G4 stood out with that 3d effect and high nit brightness for HDR spec highlights etc
@pboissie As a prospective LG G4 buyer, I appreciate the helpful info. I've been disappointed by my experience with Samsung this month. I returned a 55-inch QN90D because of some very bad vignetting on the edges of the screen and plan on returning a 55-inch S90D because of it having a Gen 1 panel. Due to the fact that the G4 stock brightness is higher than what my S90D would be with the ANA PEAK 1023 mod (among other reasons), it seems like the best option. I just need to wait for the prices to come down again.
@ yea man i try to be objective too, and i just got the G4 to replace my old LG C9. Ive had it for a month now and love it! I already have a Samsung S95b first gen qdoled for a year now, so far so good but i made sure to get extended warranty for that as ive had samsungs fail on me in the past, but never had an LG fail on me. Only gripe with s95b is after they nerfed brightness in an update, so HDR movies look darker in general than i would like, and i hate to use contrast enhancer which makes it much brighter but inaccurate i guess, but oh well. For gaming with HDR it looks good though with Dynamic tone mapping on for HDR. Ps: once G4 came down from 2300 for a 55, down to 1800 i just pulled the trigger. Not sure how lower it can be priced beyond that, until nxt year when G5 drops, and if LG does qdoled then ill be pissed 😡 but i already own 1 qdoled atleast
Samsung tech came by today to fix my no sound issue with my recently purchased 65" s90d and popped the back cover off to find just what I had expected, two disconnected ribbon cables. Reconnected them both and now my TV is good as new.
I bought a 32-inch 4K 240Hz QD-OLED monitor yesterday, going to unbox and try it today. Excited to checkout QD-OLED for the first time coming from LG C1. Yeah it sucks that monitors don't get as bright as TVs, but I didn't want to replace my 65" C1 and I wanted a small display for my desk, so 32" QD-OLED is the best available choice for me right now. I hope next year's models bring some good improvements.
„How many TVs does a man need? You let me know.“ 😂 Ariel, I hope you finally get the right S90D!! Sony is insane. The last 3 years they increased the prices for their hardware like crazy. PS5 Pro, Bravia Theatre Quad, TVs and so on…it‘s a shame.
It's kinda funny that you mentioned that a dead pixel was bothering you, but a line in the middle doesn't. I know what you mean, though. I had to return a 55" C3 because of a dead pixel. Replaced it with a 65" C4, but that had the green tint. Now I have a 65" S90D, but Samsung updated that on their own even when I had auto-updates on. That's dirty! Are they even allowed to do that? I now have it offline. But I'm looking forward to seeing what you're gonna do with your replacement S90D. I'm still under return period. But it's a hassle packing up, returning, and unpacking.
The line in the middle is a deal breaker, I'll buy another 65 to have 3 and then 2 lines on the side should make it tolerable. They come to pick it up and I don't have to put it back on the box. Sometimes depending on who comes They even install the new one
You should make the jump to mini LED. I can almost guarantee you would like it better than OLED tech because it can do 95% of what OLED can do and a whole lot that OLED cannot do. You get beautifully stable brightness aka far far less ABL, amazing dark room and bright room performance, vastly better HDR experience with specular highlights that are on a completely different level, vastly better peak brightness, better color gamut coverage, no risk of burn in, way better shadow detail, better panel longevity... You're basically trading all of these massive advantages in for 5% better black level performance that you will never even notice.
I'm sorry to hear about the gift and the curse with Samsung's panel lottery. I was thinking of getting a C4 or maybe even a G4 during Black Friday or Cyber Monday but I chickened out because of scenarios like these besides money and time. It must suck to return something and then wait for 🚚 delivery multiple times 😔. Im sorry about your purchases. I think I have discovered a new fear over the years of buying newer tvs. My 14 year old, no thrills, 42 Inch Vizio M420NV seems to be kicking and outlasting all these modern televisions. This was way before Vizio became smart tvs, cheap, a whole different company, and broke down all the time.
14:39 so true i didn't realize how 55" is soo small until i jumped to 77" IMO right now i don't really care that much if it's 4k or 8k or a 1k nit or 2k nits of brightness or QDOLED or WOLED if you want the best pick an OLED Type TV and go as big in size as you can even if you have small room go for big size because it is the biggest improvement you're going to get am just waiting for the 97" gets cheaper and they're taking so long
Low lag frame generation is the future for HDR pictures that have decent motion, and Samsung has a head-start for that no doubt. That much is a fact. The problem is, in order for it to make the biggest difference, we would need panels with refresh rates that go much beyond the input signal (like, we'd accept the fact that the hypothetical TV can only take 4K120 real, but low-lag interpolation creates 3 intermediate image on its native 960hz panel). We're definitely not there yet, and I will wait a couple of years with my GX and G1 before we see where this goes. Since I mostly play PC, GPU-based and software frame gen are available to me to reach those 120fps which doesn't make a world of difference compared to Samsung's 144hz maximum, and I still get to sacrifice brightness for motion when needed. Though I acknowledge the peak brightness levels are nowhere close to begin with. I still have some hope that some LCD monitors with optimal backlight strobing will give me CRT-like motion clarity with HDR400-level brightness (or even 800 if we're optimistic) all with better-than-before black levels due to mini-LEDs, but for a no-compromise HDR experience (i.e., in the 1000-2000nits ballpark), we just need much higher panel refresh and major improvements in on-display low-lag frame generation...
Hopefully the updated colour calibration settings for LG C1/G1 in comparison with Samsung S90C/S95C is in progress for SDR and HDR. Eagerly waiting for it.
It's very difficult. I've put hours trying to match the S90D on the S90C, and I haven't been able to. It is deemed an impossible task. Eyeballing a calibration is not a talent we can even spire to have
Props to you even though after the hardships you still recommend it. Im also glad you are the only few who straight up admit QD OLED is just better than anything else. I bought a Gigabyte 3rd gen QD OLED monitor and yes its not a TV its still capable of around 1050 nits peak brightness even in SDR and the colors look unreal. I'm at 600+ hours with 100% brightness, no screensaver, no hiding taskbars or any other protective measures are turned on other than the pixel refresh and shifting and there is 0 burn in. Now I use dark mode but thats about it.
Just buy an A95L Edit: Not being able to disable asbl on the A95L is inconsequential because the heatsink layer is so efficient that unless you walk away from your screen for 15+ minutes on a completely static image, it's never going to dim. There's also not really a need to get more brightness from the service menu because you're guaranteed to be getting a 2nd gen QD OLED panel.
mate, there is a video of Classy playing Fortnite on a Sony OLED QD-OLED where his screen would dim down significantly while playing continuously. something like a 20-30% brightness drop-off after 10-20 mins which is beyond crazy. this happened because he has static HUD elements like health bar even though he is moving his entire screen with the camera and fighting ppl etc. it is inexcusable to be unable to turn it off, and Sony have missed several sales from me due to it :(
@@SadSillyGoose Every damn tv has to have some stupid issue like that, Im trying to buy a tv for 2 years now but theres always something that feels like a deal breaker. Should have get a panasonic lz1000 when I could have cuz I liked the picture in person at the store. Then I watched too much youtube praising qd-oleds so I wanted a s90c but waited too long for black friday andf they were no longer to be found here only exposition ones for full price...and now Im still figuring out what to buy lol.
I'm glad I never this problem, but I can see why you went this far. Tbh you were lucky with the deals as well. I was wondering did you check the Game HDR modes (Basic/Advanced). I have yet to figure out what these exactly do.
This would be my 4th Samsung in 5 years. 2014 Plasma died in 2019, 2021 QN90A died in 2023 and a S90C died in a year. Looking at the S90D but idek anymore
I wouldn't say the Bravia 9 can't compete, it is 800 nits at 100% windows while also being able to produce nearly 3000 nits at 2% windows, so not noticeable loss of detail on dark scenes. But of course, worse response times. I'm considering replacing my miniled Samsung QN90B with an LG C4, I need it to be 43' at most (used as desk monitor) so my options are limited, and I don't know if I can go back to such low brightness on the LG C series when compared to the miniled.
Last 2 Samsung tvs I picked up in store have had the best uniformity out of any Samsung I've owned. I think they get banged around too much ordering online 😕
Unfortunately, there's a big chance you'll have to replace existing tvs, after 3 years, let alone buying the third. If you care about longativity of TVs, forget Samsung or Hisense. Sony and LG are the way to go.
I had to skip on the S90D, even though the deals were really good AND I had a $600 coupon all because the 77" in Aus is WOLED. Shame. Hopefully the next year model is QD :)
Somebody ( LG /Samsung whatever ) pls just release 42 / 48" QDOLED 240hz TV already !!!! What takes so long? there are 32323223 4k 240hz monitors on the market already (but too small sizes )
I just had the S90C 77 inch 4 days ago. I chose S90C over S90D because in my region, 77 inch are all WOLEDs and also i tried checking the type of panel using the flashlight method and it gave me all light red with hints of green on the red circle . Does it mean i have a 3rd Gen panel ?
Man i want lg to make a qdoled. I hate how panel lottery is allowed with samsung of whether or not you are getting a qd or woled, that should be illegal.
So what are the differences are you seeing between your Gen 1 s90c and Gen 3 s90d? Like better tone mapping perhaps, and were the stock peak highlights nits the same?
Nah Sony makes the best tvs for movies, shows and looks natural unlike lg and Samsung which to me makes movies look a little to fake but awesome for gaming depends what you prefer..
Movies are not the highest quality content, so processing becomes key. I've seen praise about Sony processing but also a lot of criticism. I'd have to try one myself, but 3x the price is not compelling
Did you find any way to disable the "depth enhancer" ? i looked in the service menu but couldnt find anything maybe its just me but i dont like it when its off it makes faces blurry when they should be in focus yeah its minor but its there
What I’ve seen with all Inkjet, it’s never proper blacks. Companies like TCL already looking on what’s next beyond it as they see it more as a stop gap.
@@plasmatvforgaming9648 it’s more noticeable depending on the pixel density as it’s between the pixels which stands out. So TCL been showing off 8K 65” as that pixel density doesn’t show the flaws like a 98” 4K do.
My Bravia 8 and 7 (returned) have been torching my eyes and I'm thinking of just dropping Sony I do love the brand but oh God, thinking of picking up an s95d in hopes their OLED technology may not bother me as much as the WOLED does.

@@edithboozy1000 I really like my G4 but the Audio isn’t great unless watching free to air tv , and adjusting every app and hdmi source picture settings is very tedious. Samsung QD colour is great for sure but their build quality is terrible and with the 5 year warranty on the G4 that includes burn in with excellent build quality it was a no brainer for me.
Hey mate i just swapped my s95c for the s90D. Can you increase the brightness on the s90d in the service menu like the s95c? Im worried it will void my warranty but id be tempted to anyway
Buy a Sony QDOLED as it will be QDOLED not WOLED and it will have good quality control. Dude shits on Sony prices yet had a shit load of problems with his QDOLED from Samsung because they make it cheap by limiting the quality control.
Samsung is a beautiful disaster. They are capable of soooo much but just F it up in reality. QC is the worse of the big 3 for sure. Don't get me started on the way they manage firmware updates. Speaking of, are you going to update the firmware on your S90C or leave it offline?
Important to note: He is comparing QD-OLED to LG C1. LG C1 is trash compared to C4 and G4 in-terms of brightness and Colour Volume WOLED has gotten so much better throughout the years that I believe Ariel should get a second opinion by looking at a LG C4 maxed out. They look the same as a S90D in average brightness APL except for 10% window that is a lot brighter on Samsung and 25% window but 50% and up are the same, so you will not notice the difference in colour volume at all if not shown next to each other, and the difference is not huge. But yes there is a difference, I found a neat way to get my LG C4 200nits brighter full screen by using Vivid Mode Warm 25 and calibrating it using 2point scale calibration and by increasing all low and high scales to +50 on red green and blue, maxing them all out increases luminance and also makes the screen a lot warmer. Ariel you should try it out on you QD-OLED and see if it bypasses the tv peak aswell, if it does and you make a video make sure to give me a shoutout! I am the only one on google talking about this trick 😁❤️ This is not a hate comment I just want people that love there LG to not feel like they need to switch, if you have C4 or G4 stay on LG if you like your tv. Let Ariel have his fun and don’t be swayed to change your own opinions guys ❤️
Except it's not trash as in fact OBJECTIVELY the best gaming tv on the planet for the simple reason it can do bfi af 120hz with 300hz equivalent motion persistance. You can talk about brightness and colors and all of that, but it all pales in comparison to the all mighty motion clarity. If it was a movie watching tv it's another thing, but for gaming id love nothing more than to buy a new tv, but I fukin cant, because these idiots forgot how to make 120hz bfi, it's a fukin joke. I have the top of the line 32" 4k qdoled monitor running 240hz and that still can't beat my C1 at 120hz because it's still not clear enough in motion even at 240hz, so what would I do with a tv that can either do 60hz bfi or plain old 120hz? That's unusable At 60hz I can see each individual strobe without a problem, and 120hz without bfi is a blurry mess.
I wouldn't say the C1 is trash vs the C4, it has far better motion clarity with 120bfi and the Color Gamut is about the same. The peak brightness difference from 800 to 1000 is not a big difference.
Hi, did anyone try the little Tool ControlColor? You can Set the Colorgradient to Put Out DCI-P3 or BT.2020 under Windows instead Stock sRGB. Or better, calibrate your Screen with Windows HDR calibration then edit the Profile with ColorComtrol and Set P3 or BT.2020 on oleds. All Looks now nice as it should. Also Set SDR Peak brightness to your max Nits for HDR cause you use the SDR Slider in Windows. Gamma as you Wish, Stock ist 2.2, i have a DARK room and use 2.4.
@@plasmatvforgaming9648 I understand but if I'm getting 200+ FPS in a game its irrelevant which TV has better motion right? Because to my understanding LG has better motion for movies, while samsung has a bit worse motion for movies. Does that also apply for games?
@plasmatvforgaming9648 but you need to grow and spread your knowledge bro, don't be so proud. It's not a charity, it is sponsoring because people like your content, people want more, you should take the opportunity, eventually it will be life changing for you, and it is very beneficial for your views to have some of your knowledge for different tv models, worst ways, if you build up to much stock you can always sell the tv and give it to charity or people in need, everyones a winner, do it bro!!!
@@plasmatvforgaming9648 Hey Ariel not sure if you saw but G4 has much better colour luminance in game mode now compared to other LG WOLEDs - or were you able to fix that in the service menu anyway?
@@optimalsettings Yeah but Ariel is using this for games and wants low latency so it must be game mode. On other models even the C4 when you switch to game mode the colour luminance takes a hit, but not on the G4. Classy Tech channel showed this, can't remember the video sorry but he was using an image of red fire to show it. But I think it's a fake artificial limitation by LG cos I can't think of any reason why that should happen in game mode, the panel is native wide gamut it doesn't need any extra processing to keep wide gamut
You can't fault Samsung based on what you _think_ you might be able to "mod" a QD-OLED to, youre pushing it out of spec. Samsung varying WOLED and QD-OLED in models in the same range is shitty though. At least you can figure it out but by looking at the full model name. (S90DA *E* = WOLED)

Using a high-end TV for anything that's not the highest quality content is almost a waste. The only reason would be the processing to improve quality that these TVs have.
Asere no seas tan tacaño y no pierdas más tu tiempo con LG y Samsung. Yo tengo un Sony OLED desde hace tres años y como dicen en inglés "you get what you paid for".

Interesting. Thanks for sharing that 👍
I bought a 32-inch 4K 240Hz QD-OLED monitor yesterday, going to unbox and try it today.
I'm also excited about 240Hz. Do you know if it will look as good as OLED Motion Pro High 120Hz in motion clarity?
120 OLED Motion Pro Medium will be as clear as 240 on that monitor
120 OLED Motion Pro high is like 312
„How many TVs does a man need? You let me know.“ 😂
Ariel, I hope you finally get the right S90D!!
@@plasmatvforgaming9648 Thats nice i wish we had stores like that in my country.
I'll get a MiniLED at some point but it has to be 10k nits full screen
Yeah, a 75 inch Hisense with ADS Pro panel (very fast response time, great for gaming)
Does mini led have better colour coverage than QD oled??
@@paulhoey9803 I think no. However both can do P3 color space perfectly fine, which is the real world standard for modern productions..
@paulhoey9803 QD-OLED color gamut coverage is very good and it will be close to mini LED. It will be better than some mini LED and worse than others.

I have an s90c I purchased last nov 2023 with the 2000nit mod. I feel like I won the lottery

Absolutely
I believe asynchronous reprojection will change everything
@@plasmatvforgaming9648 Yeah I still have to wrap my head around that one :D

Just buy an A95L
Edit: Not being able to disable asbl on the A95L is inconsequential because the heatsink layer is so efficient that unless you walk away from your screen for 15+ minutes on a completely static image, it's never going to dim.
There's also not really a need to get more brightness from the service menu because you're guaranteed to be getting a 2nd gen QD OLED panel.
The A95L is 3x what I paid for these
mate, there is a video of Classy playing Fortnite on a Sony OLED QD-OLED where his screen would dim down significantly while playing continuously. something like a 20-30% brightness drop-off after 10-20 mins which is beyond crazy. this happened because he has static HUD elements like health bar even though he is moving his entire screen with the camera and fighting ppl etc. it is inexcusable to be unable to turn it off, and Sony have missed several sales from me due to it :(

Full screen brightness is the only win for that BRAVIA 9. The S95D can go over 3000 nits when unlocked on the SM.

Important to note:
He is comparing QD-OLED to LG C1.
I am the only one on google talking about this trick 😁❤️
This is not a hate comment I just want people that love there LG to not feel like they need to switch, if you have C4 or G4 stay on LG if you like your tv.
That's unusable
At 60hz I can see each individual strobe without a problem, and 120hz without bfi is a blurry mess.
I wouldn't say the C1 is trash vs the C4, it has far better motion clarity with 120bfi and the Color Gamut is about the same. The peak brightness difference from 800 to 1000 is not a big difference.
Time to get a G4! Pls pls
