Honestly, the issue of repetition is a very healthy trait in humans. When you're wrowing up you need a sense of security, that isn't just your parents caring for you but also predictability. That's why children are obsessed over a single song, film, color... it's because our need of continuity. Creating the same Sim over and over again and seeing how they turn out is pretty healthy teenager behaviour.
Well I feel a bit better now 😅 I was also the type to re-read the same stories and books and rewatch the same shows and movies. If I didn't do the same with the sims it was because I never played long enough to restart my game when I first got it.
i was heavily addicted to ts3 in middle school and i was the only girl in a house full of boys and i hated being called ‘weak’ bc i was a girl so ALL of my sims were females who were EXTREMELY BUFF (& also had brown hair/eyes & freckles like me) and spent all their time in the gym, having *macho* career paths like firefighter or military or sports. they also always had the traits ‘ambitious’ and ‘brave’. when world adventures came out i also made all of them learn martial arts so they could beat up anyone who ‘called them weak’ LMFAO i like how we be projecting ourselves onto our sims during childhood (and funnily enough i also spend a lot of time in the gym as an adult. it was all foreshadowing!!)
I think you've just unlocked some hidden childhood trauma for me because I always made 'perfect' families in TS2 & TS3. There was the Mum, Dad, a big brother and twin baby girls. My parents split up when I was young and I went from 1 big brother to 5 😂😂😂
@@KatelynxXxAngelI think it’s just that kids don’t have a big experience of the world so we just play family. Versus Joe as an adult we can play villain, good person, town bicycle lol we just have much more need for escapism
I remember playing the sims 2 at a friends house when I was like 11 or 12 (it was like 2004 or 2005, so i believe ts2 was pretty new), and we decided to make the girls in our class. One of my classmates at the time was really short, so therefore we thought that the solution to not being able to change your sims height was to make her a child when everyone else was teenagers, and i just find it so funny everytime I remember it.
I’d love to see a legacy challenge with Kayla’s “default sim” that just gets pushed to be in the most chaotic scenarios possible, see how far off the rails it can get by the end
pairing the “good sim” with the most chaotic partner ever and seeing how long she can tolerate trying to complete her life goal of having a big family with this much chaos
I also made an adult version of my sim self lol and used the same traits over and over. I distinctly remember romancing Summer Holiday in my first save and being so scared my parents would be mad at me for kissing a girl in the sims lolll
@@augusto7681it faded in because she was saying how now she “never” plays with the same sims like she used to, but in reality she plays with Stanley all the time
I fancied myself a writer when I was a child, so every time I played the Sims I'd always make the main character's family from the story I was working on at the time and play as her (I always wrote female, child protagonists, because clearly I was very creative) That's definitely not how I play now, but I am slowly working on creating a save file with all of the characters from all of the stories I wrote throughout my life to have them around as townies.
Something wrong with writing what you know! And I do the same now. I have around ten Sims from various roleplaying or DnD adventures around the same save file, and it's great fun!
I'm studying film at university and I've started making Sims based on old 1930s films and adding them to my gallery and game. It's kind of my version of ticking off the films I have to watch on my modules when I finish them. Story characters are a great idea.
one of my first sims i made when the sims 4 came out is on the gallery, so i go back and edit her sometimes. i've given her a make over at least 5 times now, the proportions are awful on 2015 sims because we were just so excited we could shape them however we wanted. her boobs were like up to her chin
when I started playing the sims I was in grade 4. I played with my family, got bored, aged my sim into an adult, married someone, had kids, then had my parents have kids, then there was a big family tree starting with my parents. (I was a huge fan of Clare siobhans let's play). I remember once I had my adult sim be mean to their toddler "for the storyline" and I felt so bad that I had trouble sleeping and then gave the toddler a custom holiday.
My first Sims was a freeware version of the sims 1 my Dad gave me. It came with 1 lot and my choices for a sim were blond or brunette, male or female. Neighbors would visit who had more variety but I couldn't play them or visit their lot. I was shocked and thrilled the first time I saw a full version at the store, I couldn't believe this little game I cared about had made it "main stream"! Of course as a kid I had no idea that it was already popular and had more versions and my version was for advertising purposes.
@@TIARAADAEDITOR The only sims I don't cringe at the memory of making are the green ones 😭Just tryna live my best plant life in between bursts of "I MUST MAKE MYSELF BUT OLD ENOUGH TO BE FANCY!" ahahahaha, childhood would be so different without the sims
My first sims all died because I played Sims 1 as a child and had no idea how to keep them alive 😭 I did, however, have the ability to import actual pics of me and my family and overlay our faces on a sim to create the most horrendous creature imaginable, so that was something 🤷🏻
I remember the first time I ever played The Sims 2 the family I went to play their mother somehow died and I had to have the teenager go to school and make money and raise a baby brother. The early games had no chill. They were legitimately hard.
When I first played TS1 when it came out I had now idea how to rotate any objects so I placed the fridge against the wall the wrong way and they all starved to death
@@brightspark19 My sims always got their babies/kids taken away or sent to boot camp bc I couldn’t figure out how to take care of them or keep up their grades 😭 TS1 did NOT play around with children’s welfare 😂
TS1 was brutal - one of my sims starved to death because they got trapped in a public toilet because a random sim decided to busk in the doorway and they couldn't go round each other. But even when everything worked, trying to keep sims alive AND happy was an impossible task.
LOL I couldn't figure out how to move the crib (I think they adopted as the 'do you want' line came up) and the game dropped it in front of the fridge. Similar situation :)
I feel like most of the sims players used The Sims as way to do that- see ourselves like we wanted be and doing the things we'd like to do for a "simulation game" it for sure excels as an escapism game
Is sims 4 not meant to be escapism? You can own a big house, have the coolest clothes, do whatever job you want, get married to the perfect person. It’s like daydreaming for hundreds of dollars.
Dude, I was like 12, made myself and my crush in TS2, moved them in and then like 5 copies of me (same hair, clothes etc.) came over to welcome us to the neighborhood, and they all had different crushes as their spouses🤣 I had a hard time keeping track of all of them and almost had my spouse woohoo with the wrong one😂
i was super obsessed with skill development when playing as a child (i also did this with careers). i found it so fun to see what new things you could unlock when you leveled up in skill/career (new recipes, songs, privileges, etc.). i would play with the same sim over and over but max out new skills/careers each time. my sim was what i wished to look like as an adult, and at the end of the day i think i was just having fun exploring different life options/avenues so i could figure out what my kid self was most interested in :)
From when I first started playing until current- I pretty much make a new save every time I pop in to sims and never revisit the old ones. I would play for like, 11 hours straight, and then be done and move on. I think it’s an adhd thing😂
I tell myself I'm going to play a family for several generations, get bored by the second one (which is usually still the same day I started playing them) and off I go to make a new sim. I've never made it past second gen 😂 I want to do the Not So Berry challenge but I just know I'll get bored!
I used to be like that. I also go through games in phases - I’ll be completely obsessed for a few months, then drop it completely for a few months, then cycle back. The legacy challenge I’m currently playing is only on gen 2 but has also survived a cycle so I guess that’s a good thing!
My very first sim was my simself, she looked nothing like me aside from being blonde. She did have a very nice poofy dress though. And when I aged her up I gave her super flashy eye makeup simply because it was blue and purple. Edit: I just remembered that she also wore that basegame wedding gown. Pretty sure that was just her everyday outfit
I played the sims 4 when I was like 12 in 2018 and I remember making myself as an adult with a family, so I would have blonde hair and blue eyes like myself and would give myself my dream name, which at the time was Skylar. I would always use the peach sweater you mentioned but in blue and give everyone converse shoes. I would then make my husband who I think was called Matt and would have the generic male face, red hair and the stylised outfits. Then I would always make 2 or 3 kids because I wanted to play with the whole family as soon as I started the game, and I would always decorate the kids bedrooms really fancy and leave the over rooms very basic because I didn't know how to decorate them haha. After I got bored of them I started to branch out, but for a while I just played with the same family!
This was very entertaining! I wish I had known the sims existed as a kid. I started playing when I was 20 years old and the very first thing I did was make a sim for the 100 baby challenge (watching Kelsey's challenge on Buzzfeed made me want the game so that's why!) so I'm sure I just gave her traits that benefitted the challenge, like family-oriented and romantic. She looked nothing like me because I don't want kids in real life, let alone a hundred of them!
I started playing as an adult, in sims1. My husband brought it home, handed it to me and said I think you'll like this. And lost me to the game forever more LOL (I still play, he still buys me sims stuff). I was into Nero Wolfe novels at the time so he was one of my first sims, living in his big house growing orchids on the top with his gardener and having Felix the cook living in the basement.
My sim in the sims 3 was always an animal lover, family orientated horse girl. Without fail. I did a rags to riches with like 4 horses a cat and a dog every time then always wound up cheating for money because I couldn’t take care of all of them 😂
When I played sims 2 I would do the same thing every day too! I’d go over making a sims family (either one woman or two people and a child), made a house from scratch, play for a day, rinse and repeat. Every single man I made looked exactly the same, and I noticed it really when the old families would come welcome my newest family and suddenly there’s 3 copies of the same man 💀
When I first started playing the sims, I never made my own sims! I would ALWAYS play in townie households. And then I would be like what if I did it differently? And literally play the same townie household again but differently…except it was never that different haha.
When I played Sims 3 for the first time I had no idea how to change family relationships in cas (like mother/child etc) and I also didn't know that toddlers can't use regular beds so I had a family of 2 complete strangers and a random child living toghether 👍 In the end toddler got taken away (he kept sleeping on floor and adult sims were mad at him for crying🥲) and "husband" died in a kitchen fire two days later✌ And yes, my other sim looked EXACTLY like Kayla’s, even traits are the same 😂
When it makes you feel so old that Kayla’s first sims game was the sims 3 🤦🏻♀️ I remember playing the original Sims with my little sister on our “family computer” 😂
I am a TS1 girl as well. I remember seeing my friend play it at her house and begging my mum for it... and then it regularly crashing the family computer 😂
honestly, I'd either make myself in the sims or make a really blonde standard Barbie like sims (as that's what I aspire-d to look like) and they'd have an eco lot and the tiniest house, they'd master gardening and cooking in the first few days and depending on the pack, they'd have mostly cats, sometimes dogs, they'd go to university and they'd be writers; really aesthetic vibes and really "me in the future" wishes I think we can all relate to at some point in the sims :)))
My sims in ts3 always ended up being fairies and sometimes spellcasters. Also the everyday outfit was the green and pink dress that came with supernatural 😂
I did that too but im autistic & so i just played the same way over and over 😂 i hyperfixated on it for so long. I love your videos. I always used good traits. I didn't wanna do mean stuff, lol. I called my sims Taylor bc i was and still am obsessed with Taylor Swift. I always did the surrounded by family too. I loved the names Allie and Alyssa when I was a kid, so I named my sims that too, sometimes. I basically just made me and did things I thought I'd wanna do as an adult
I did the same thing in the Sims 3 where I dressed my sim(s) the same way every time and give them the same 5 traits, never in the sims 4 for some reason (except I would use the same pre-set faces and dress them in their “favorite color”)
sims 2 was my first and i used to play mainly with the premade families as a child. would hop from family to family so they would all age around the same time, and when i got tired of where it was going or just wanted to start over... i'd de-install and re-install the game. did that A LOT. my fav neighborhood was strangetown, then pleasantview. i remember hating the last one cause it was based on romeo and juliet and the titular families (specially juliet's family) had such annoying lots to play in. i did sometimes create my own towns and families. maybe once or twice in years of playing i tried to make my own family, but it was a cas only experience: playing with them freaked me out (the idea of them aging and dying). when making families, because the genetic system was very funny to me, i'd make very different adults (diff skintone, diff hair and eye colors...) to randomize them children and see how they'd come out. since, some things have changed... but i still (in sims 4) mainly go in premade families and hop around instead of creating my own sims. i like dressing them well enough but not a fan of spending a lot of time in cas to "mold" the sims completely. plus, always found it fun to just jump in and see how sims are related, what their personalities are, and skills they already have, and go along with it.
I think ever new sims player does very basic things before progressing in builds, CAS and storylines. I know i did, especially before watching simsie i was so bad at the sims.
I created my dream adult self in the Sims 2. She was single, lived in an apartment, long hair, a scientist, adopted a child, and got a small dog. Then she was using a telescope at a cottage in a vacation world and randomly died from a satellite landing on her. It was so sudden and shocking, and then the game was over because there were no more adults/teen sims in the house. I was honestly traumatized by that as a kid LOL
When i first started playing sims i was in the closet so i always made what i thought the perfect husband would look like 😂... Traits never really bothered but was always good traits
I used to play with a sim called Herman a lot.. he was an evil, crazy, thief who dated Dom… I still have him and I still love him. He’s like my Jim Pickens lmao
One times in the sims 3 as a baby gay I had my female sim get into a relationship with Hetty Lionheart and I got so scared that my dad would find out (he wouldn’t have cared) that I killed Hetty but she still showed up in the friends option as a ghost so I just ended up deleting that save.
my first sim had bluging eyes and a skrewed up face cause I didn't know how to put it back and my sister lied and said you couldn't change it or start again 😭😭😭
In the sims, 3 I would almost always give my sims the hopeless romantic trait, too. I also used the flirty trait a lot. My female sims would have the same head preset a lot, but I would try to make them look different otherwise. In the sims 2, I used this one curly hair style a lot for my girl child sims.
This just reminded me how old I really am. Kayla’s first sims game was sims 3… mine was the original sims when you only had a few options and couldn’t really customize anything so your sims always looked the same by default 😂😂 good ol days
My first sim in the Sims 4 was a very standard sim. I named her Kira Collins (which is similar to my actual name) and gave her a hot pink braid (because at the time, I wanted to dye my hair when I got older and I wanted it to be pink). She also wore the mint green crop top and wore some base game jeans and tennis shoes. Overall she was very generic but she holds a special place in my heart. I like looking back at her to see how far I’ve come in making Sims. Definitely recommend this if you ever need a confidence boost when building/playing in CAS.
when i was a kid playing the sims 2 i would ALWAYS make Rocky and Cece from Shake It Up bc that was my favourite show 🥴 i would just make them over and over and over again 😭😅
I wasn’t a kid when the Sims came out, but I did have some “staple Sims” that I’ve played in every version. Starting in Sims 1 I made a Sim that was a mad scientist. He lived in a house that was a floating room connected to the ground by stairs. I remade this Sim every time in Sims 2, 3, and 4. I haven’t remade him in years at this point, though.
I definitely did this, but I always made the “rebellious teen.” So the skull swimsuit in sims3 was a regular occurrence. I just got sims 4 like two years ago, and just stared seriously playing it a few months back. I was very much a sims 3 girl. I used to randomize the sims in CAS and “fix” them, like give them a style and traits and goals and whatever, then push randomize again and do that over and over. And in sims 3 I loved the styled rooms. I’d piece together a house with all the styled rooms. Haven’t even looked at those in sims 4 though haha.
I always made my sims what I wanted to be.. What was pretty.. Fair skinned, blue eyes, blonde hair... Everything I wasn’t, as I never met under the “pretty” title. But now i make myself in the sims with CC.
when i was a kid i’d make sims of tv show characters and people from bands that i liked 😭 i literally had sims based off of all the members of avenged sevenfold lmao
I always put creative, loves outdoors and loner in my earliest sims 4 sims. And then either the painting or one of the nature aspirations. I'd always use the painting and gardening skills and sometimes handicraft. Totally just what i thought / wanted to be like as an adult
I used to create only models in the sims 3, muscled and skinny people, but with the legacy challenge traits just like you Kayla, and then use them over and over again lol
It was the Sims 2 for me, so customization was already limited. I had a few favourites who were always part of the neighbourhood. Like a kind, artistic (either painter or writer) dude with brown hair; a heartbreaker lady with the red dress and blonde hair who slept around; a wierd, shy scientist guy with receding hairline; a strict woman who was in the military career, and a "rockstar" who played guitar, liked to throw parties and had a drinking problem. And then I had them interact in different ways and it was so much fun.
I didn't have sims as a kid BUT I used to do this with my toys. Set everything up in the playhouse (dollhouse, but they weren't dolls) the exact same way, play out teh same story, do it all over again the next time 😅
When I was younger, in fact even now I do the same thing, I would play the same exact way as Kayla. My sims always looked the same, dressed the same, had good traits and I wanted them to be likable. I’m trying to be a little more diverse in the sims I make now because it is honestly more fun to have a bit of a chaotic game.
i played the sims 1 when I was like five and spent hourssss building my dream home with my sister only for it to burn to the literal ground in the first five minutes I CRIED FOR DAYS
For some reason I was convinced that my sims needed to only wear their favorite colors and that I couldn’t overlap them lol, I don’t think that applied to my houses but if a sim liked purple then they better have really liked purple cause that was all they were going to wear 😂
I legitimately think I have over 20,000 hours in the Sims 3 and I ABSOLUTELY would use very similar hairstyles/clothes etc each time I’d make a new family, but my go-to that I tended to always go back to was a single young adult woman who started off in Bridgeport and would work at the diner and then eventually graduate up to the bistro. LOVED the cooking aspiration/job in the sims 3 because it was so realistic and practical!
I'm the same age as her. But damn my history with the sims really goes back. I remember watching my cousin playing sims 1. I was mesmorized. She lent us the game eventually, I played it a little bit. Then my sister got the Sims 2, she would rarely lend me the game but HAHA! I found a way to play it anyway 😅 Then the very first sims games I owned were "sims life story" and "sims Castaway Stories". My sister always owned the sims pet stories one. Beside all that, I played, on the DS, "sims 2" (which was so strange) and "sims 2 pets". Then the sims 3, I played those the most, from around 2012 to 2017 I guess, I had many extensions. Then finally, I played a little bit of sims 4 eventually. Wow! The sims really were a big part of my childhood 😊
I remember two distinct saves I had in the sims 3. One being a HUGE family (like 8 kids) but I only really paid any attention to the eldest daughter. The other one was when I created the family from good luck Charlie, with Teddy secretly being a fairy. I was like 6
i have always been more of a build person than a CAS person (i’m more equal these days tho) but in the sims 3 i was obsessed w making giant apocalyptic mansion bases surrounded by “moats” for some reason??? and it was literally just a big box with like each floor being a kitchen, a bedroom, a game room, or a long hallway with like 20 bathrooms.
my sims were always just aged up versions of me and my friends, i always used the jackets/hoodies and the gamer base game t shirt. i used the same traits everytime and i feel so seen from this video, i almost want to start a legacy challenge w my “aged up” sim
What I made varied /wildly/ based on my age. Mostly I’d make a family with technicolor cats and then I’d focus primarily on said cats, cause I only had the pet expansion at the time. Later I’d try to create Sims for hobbies I thought were interesting (mostly painting and diving tbh). Then I went on a warrior cats kick where I’d create “clans” for fun drama. Common traits for human sims were artistic, computer whiz, friendly, flirty, loner, animal/cat lover, GENIUS, hopeless romantic, bookworm, and loves the outdoors/swimming. For cats it was almost always some combo of friendly, genius, great hunter, proud, playful, adventurous, and hyper. When I got older I made Sims “universities” where I crammed up to 24 different Sims into one big apartment-style building and make them work on skills. When I was well into highschool I mostly just did big family challenges? Like I’d try to have my sims raise an ungodly number of children over and over again. This caused nurturing and family oriented to be added to the trait rotation. I also ALWAYS used supernatural sims as soon as I got that pack. Tbh I’m still guilty of this I think regular human sims are boring.
I used to have two basic stories that I played all the time. Either a child was being abused and struggled to survive or my sim was trans (which wasn't actually possible in ts3 but that just added to my sim's misery). I have decided that that doesn't say anything about who I am in real life
I definitely had a similar play style when I first started playing and my first game was sims 2. Not a lot of options, lol. I would just make sims of my ideal adult self. Over and over and over again 😂
i picked the same exact traits as you every single time too !! and sims 3 was literally also my first sim game (well okay besides sims freeplay) . i've only played console not pc/laptop .
I did do this, but very differently regarding traits and the storyline. Usually made them either evil vampires or daredevil rockers trying to start a band and I always played in the city expansion world. Then at some point I got Into The Future and got absolutely obsessed with that one. I think I started making them geniuses instead. I also always loved CAS and spent a long time trying to make them the way I imagined them. Usually that meant super edgy. Man... I wanna play the Sims 3 again now.
I made EVERYTIME a blonde mum a brunette dad a blonde teen daughter and a brunette little brother who lived ina half finished blue "fancy" house😂 (i didnt know cheats so i always ran out of money 😂)
In The Sims (original), I only really played with premade Sims in the game (btw, if you want 'hard mode', try the original Sims game). In Sims 3 (sadly I skipped Sims 2), I also usually made all my Sims pretty much the same - female, creative, and family orientated. I had one sim I kept alive for generations, continuously having children and grandchildren (until my laptop couldn't manage Sims 3 anymore). Now, in Sims 4, I am making an effort to try different gameplay (some of the scenarios are helping with this), though I often gravitate to the same family gameplay when I just want to enjoy (which is weird because I don't want children, yet I love my Sims to have huge families).
I was ten when the sims (1) came out and played it over and over and of the original five traits, I always chose to put the most points towards neat and nice, because the slob trait causes a big inconvenience in the game by leaving messes and the mean trait made it impossible to make friends. Then my leftover points would go to one of the three remaining options, but I always put the same amount of points in those two every game. And make my star sign match 😄
I played TS2 because that’s what my parents had lying around when I was a kid, keep in mind I was five when TS4 came out. I’d often recreate my family but I could never get my mom quite right. I never wanted to make her seem bad but at the same time TS2 wasn’t an easy game to make traits with as an 8 year old expecially considering that in TS4 the traits I give her are: erratic, depressed and paranoid. I remember trying to play out my life but every time CPS would take the children away and considering that they got involved when I got older, I seriously think if I had spoken up in elementary instead of middle school maybe I wouldn’t have been stuck in that hell for as long.
i still kinda do this lol. whenever i start a new save I make a simself to get into the game and start building. they always look kinda like me, and i give them three random traits out of: gloomy, erratic, creative, unflirty, loner, cat lover, bookworm, geek, and kleptomaniac. once i get high school years, socially awkward is definitely getting added to the list haha. i also always need to give my simself my two IRL cats.
I totally did this too!! When I young I always made myself as an adult, the same way every time, I usually got a dog or a horse, and I ALWAYS married Ryan Gosling. No joke. I would make him from different movies like The Notebook, Drive, Crazy Stupid Love. I was obsessed. I probably made more Ryan Gosling Sims than I made any other Sim in the Sims 3.
I would love to watch a video or a mini series where Kayla plays like she would've played back in the day, using same sim and same usual storyline! maybe even playing this in the sims 3, that could be cool
my first sims 4 sim had the dark brown long wavy base game hair, the one that looks like it was curled with a curling wand. the full face freckles, and the brightest blue eyes. she had the shoulder tattoo of the birds but it was covered by the layered shirt set. the one with a tied up button up over a t shirt. i can't remember what pants she wore but it was probably leggings. def wore converse
i also used to use both those hair styles CONSTANTLY in both sims 3 & 4, but i would switch between that one in sims 3 that’s like a vampire style ( or at least it was to me ) where it was short on one side and a long pointed emo bang on the other. and in the sims 4 i ALWAYS used either that same hair u picked, or the “long and curly” one in base game. i also still to this day will pick “the good” traits and aspirations for my sims when im making npcs unless im making like actual townies w homes you know.
it would always be what i imagined my 13 year old self to look like as an adult, as in a emo / goth woman who also only had my moms style to go off of (which no offense to her is basically just elena gilbert vampire diaries style)
My first Sims game was "The Sims Deluxe" (Sims 1 with a couple expansion packs) I always made the same families. -- two adult sisters -- two adult brothers -- a single dad named Zack with his kids Yvonne and Xavier (I think I said the mom died but I never actually made her) Making Sims was less detailed, you only had skin tone, outfits and hairs to choose from.
When I was a kid, I played Sims 1. There was no gallery. It was on disc. Ever since Sims 1, I've created characters from shows I enjoy. In Sims 1, I would create and play the same ones. Buffy and Angel, Cole and Phoebe, and then Piper and then Prue. I also would create Cordy and Xander. Back then, I didn't put full families into the same household. I would put 2 sims in one household, though. And each Sims all lived in the same neighborhood. I was obsessed with BTVS/Angel and Charmed growing up if you can't tell. Lol.
I definitely understand playing with the same sim over again. I started playing the sims around the time i was 4 with the sims 2, i vividly remember my brother having to set up the game and sims for me because i didn’t know how. Later when i got my own sims game and didnt share with my brother (which was the sims 3) i would recreate household ans play with them for 4 hours straifhr because I didn’t think that you could keep playing with them. I would also just click random traits since I didn’t know what half of them meant.
I had to share the game with my brother, we played Sims 1 and made our whole family then built a huge square house with ever wall being a window and only the most expensive items because we were SO COOL and had a cheats list. I also always had the heart bed because it was cute.
Yeah... my very first Sim was of myself - well, as close as I could get the Sim to be. There was no dream version concept, though. I barely knew how to play The Sims, didn't know a thing about all the useful cheats, how celebrating birthdays worked or that you could make money without having to get a job. My self-Sim lived a very dismal life of almost all work and no play. They only bothered to make salads, sometimes grilled cheese. They did their daily task and spent most of their time gaining the skills they needed to get promoted. Their only real fun was reading and getting sleep. They only had one "friend" who they barely had time to ever see. Their work hours would be so long that sometimes they never made it all the way home in time and ended up passing out in the middle of the street despite I'd have them leave for work with full green bars. In the end, my Sim remained in the same starter home (nothing updated - I knew nothing of build/buy mode), never really socialized, only had books for fun, only ate the same two types of meals and basically died alone from old age as they were on their way to bed after reading a book. Grim appeared and the game was over. Shocked, I sat there and thought something along the lines of, "Wow... that was horribly depressing. In a worse case scenario I can see my future actually turning out like that. Why do people even play this game? I have to do some research..." Thank you Internet search engine and Carl's Guide to the Sims. My second try was much more satisfying.
I still play with the same family over and over again and I’m 22. They have the same traits, same spouse, same kids - different house though, I’m creative there! They also look ever so slightly different, same hair and eye colour but different hair and clothing styles. Job too! I switch it up there. And yes, for the most part, I do live my dream life in the sims :) And I do it so flawlessly…hehe 😅
When I was a child, I used to ALWAYS play with the well-off woman with the white horse in Appalosa Plains. She was my go-to sim. I would change her hair to be longer and change her mouth to look more realistic, I would ALWAYS break up with one of her flings (she had two romantic interests at the same time) and it would almost always be the guy with the longer hair. I would keep buying and training horses with the eventual goal of having an unicorn join the family.... I think I just unlocked a core memory.
I got 2 and 3 when my kid was a preteen and teen, and he used to do hilarious stuff with characters. Since I have sims 4, I started out doing everything the same all the time, but now I make an effort 😊😊
My first sim was blue haired and I made her around the time cats and dogs came out. I lost her sadly when I got my first computer so I tried to remake her and just chose the first randomized sim i got. A very memorable sim of mine looked like my barbie doll. One of the things I always did without fail was give all my sims the cooking aspiration because I thought that otherwise they "couldn't cook". Was a very shocking day when I figured out that that wasn't the case...I also always gave them family oriented, neat, and romantic. If it wasnt one of those, the other option would be the jealous trait. I just thought the eye looked cool and got so mad when my sims were always tense...
I remember always using the preset face with the blue eyes when I was younger. I had the Get to Work pack, and I really wanted to have alien babies for some reason lmao. My first sim had the braided hair with the blue streaks in it, and the black and blue sun dress. And of course, she only had "good traits" too 😂
ive been playing since the og sims so i can't really remember my first sims, but i do remember in the sims 2 i would always play a big family in one of the premade houses that was like a red farmhouse? and would always invite the headmaster over to get my kids in to private school lmao
I used to spend HOURS on CAS chosing the right shade and the right patter for EVERYTHING, but most of the time i was doing characters from my favorite books or shows (always a fanfic writter at heart. HOWEVER (this is the funny part, trust me) when i made an older version of myself i made her SO COOL. Her name was Sabrina, she had Bright orange hair and she was BRAVE and a GENIUS. I had the time travel pack so I made the Doctor from Doctor who as well and made myself his companion. The funny part is that I met a Sim in the future who had a cool side cut and baby me decided to date her - i was absolutely oblivious to the fact i liked girls and i was TERRIFIED someone would find out and think I was gay. "I'm not gay! She is just cool and i want her to move in with me!" Yeah sure younger-me, ofc.
the sims 3 flashbacks im having rn 😭😭 i used to spend hours in cas and renovating the most expensive house that has a huge pool (using motherlode) and creating custom colors of furniture with the color wheel and then actually playing the game for a few minutes 💀
It's hilarious to me that Kayla wanted to be out of CAS super fast but I would spend hours in there, and my sim would ALSO be pretty much the same every time, just barely enough changes for me to pretend they were brand new. 😂❤
Not Kayla saying that she doesn't play with the same sim always anymore yet she never stops playing with her hot dog sim 💀We love her for that though
lmao Stanley is an outlier tbf
Stanley is an icon that’s why 😂
okay not too much on stanley okay 😒
to be fair, she never plays with Stanley seriously 😂 it’s always for the rags to riches challenges

And then Kayla says that the sims team are not waiting for her to say that she'd like *something* in the game for them to then do it... 😉
kayla being worried over a modesty rule that never existed is so funny 😂

Honestly, the issue of repetition is a very healthy trait in humans. When you're wrowing up you need a sense of security, that isn't just your parents caring for you but also predictability. That's why children are obsessed over a single song, film, color... it's because our need of continuity. Creating the same Sim over and over again and seeing how they turn out is pretty healthy teenager behaviour.
Not just children who get obsessed like that with certain things.
my childhood was pretty messy, so being able to watch the same movies over and over created a safe environment for a moment.
That makes a lot of sense. Never thought about it that way.
@@niteblooms I'm sorry you had to go through a messy childhood and I hope you've found safety and stability now. Lots of love.
Well I feel a bit better now 😅
I was also the type to re-read the same stories and books and rewatch the same shows and movies.
My parents split up when I was young and I went from 1 big brother to 5
😂😂😂
lol !!! That was very creative of you!
@@KatelynxXxAngelI think it’s just that kids don’t have a big experience of the world so we just play family. Versus Joe as an adult we can play villain, good person, town bicycle lol we just have much more need for escapism
@@AndreiFantastic I do have Dallas worthy story lines now I'm a grown up but i still can't bring myself to kill them off on purpose 🤣🤣
@@vampyr311pairing the good sim with Stanley 😭
omg a WHEEL SPIN SERIES 3????
I also made an adult version of my sim self lol and used the same traits over and over. I distinctly remember romancing Summer Holiday in my first save and being so scared my parents would be mad at me for kissing a girl in the sims lolll
Oh that’s how you connect to her? I killed her first and that’s how I connect with her

Yeah
Mine had pink dyed hair😭
I played sims 1 so yes, all the same
Mine had spikey green hair and all black clothes, haha.
I repeated my sim four times before i went for something original
(They all caught fire and died)
I fancied myself a writer when I was a child, so every time I played the Sims I'd always make the main character's family from the story I was working on at the time and play as her (I always wrote female, child protagonists, because clearly I was very creative)
That's definitely not how I play now, but I am slowly working on creating a save file with all of the characters from all of the stories I wrote throughout my life to have them around as townies.
I do the exact same thing!
one of my first sims i made when the sims 4 came out is on the gallery, so i go back and edit her sometimes. i've given her a make over at least 5 times now, the proportions are awful on 2015 sims because we were just so excited we could shape them however we wanted. her boobs were like up to her chin
when I started playing the sims I was in grade 4.
My first sim is just terrible 💀💀 not even a makeover fixes him
Same 😭 mine was green
I feel like most of the sims players used The Sims as way to do that- see ourselves like we wanted be and doing the things we'd like to do
for a "simulation game" it for sure excels as an escapism game
omg yes, when i was questioning my sexuality i created a sim version of my female best friend and i made my simself flirt with her LMAOO
Is sims 4 not meant to be escapism? You can own a big house, have the coolest clothes, do whatever job you want, get married to the perfect person. It’s like daydreaming for hundreds of dollars.
Eloise in the Sims 3 looks like Eliza Pancakes, their names even sound alike 😭
Came to say this 😂😂😂
My first thought too😂
AND SHE LIKES PANCAKES 🤯
Omggg thats so real!! I started the not so berry challenge and I was actually able to last until gen five 🤣
Pretty sure that was just her everyday outfit
that edit is a whole MOOD
When I played Sims 3 for the first time I had no idea how to change family relationships in cas (like mother/child etc) and I also didn't know that toddlers can't use regular beds so I had a family of 2 complete strangers and a random child living toghether 👍 In the end toddler got taken away (he kept sleeping on floor and adult sims were mad at him for crying🥲) and "husband" died in a kitchen fire two days later✌
And yes, my other sim looked EXACTLY like Kayla’s, even traits are the same 😂
When it makes you feel so old that Kayla’s first sims game was the sims 3 🤦🏻♀️ I remember playing the original Sims with my little sister on our “family computer” 😂
I'm 31 and have been playing Sims since 2000 and I still play basically this same way. 😆
sims 2 was my first and i used to play mainly with the premade families as a child. would hop from family to family so they would all age around the same time, and when i got tired of where it was going or just wanted to start over... i'd de-install and re-install the game. did that A LOT. my fav neighborhood was strangetown, then pleasantview. i remember hating the last one cause it was based on romeo and juliet and the titular families (specially juliet's family) had such annoying lots to play in.
i did sometimes create my own towns and families. maybe once or twice in years of playing i tried to make my own family, but it was a cas only experience: playing with them freaked me out (the idea of them aging and dying). when making families, because the genetic system was very funny to me, i'd make very different adults (diff skintone, diff hair and eye colors...) to randomize them children and see how they'd come out.
since, some things have changed... but i still (in sims 4) mainly go in premade families and hop around instead of creating my own sims. i like dressing them well enough but not a fan of spending a lot of time in cas to "mold" the sims completely. plus, always found it fun to just jump in and see how sims are related, what their personalities are, and skills they already have, and go along with it.
It's so sweet that Kayla's mom was such an inspiration for her sims.
Kayla’s first sims game was sims 3… mine was the original sims when you only had a few options and couldn’t really customize anything so your sims always looked the same by default 😂😂 good ol days
i constantly picked "absent-minded" as a trait for my sims because i thought this was really relatable lmao
I looooved the color blue as a kid so in the Sims 2, there was an icy blue lipstick swatch that without fail all my sims had to wear 😂
This is the funniest comment
I’m trying to be a little more diverse in the sims I make now because it is honestly more fun to have a bit of a chaotic game.
i found a picture of my first ever sim and it was honestly crazy- how was that supposed to be me?? it was always me!!
i played the sims 1 when I was like five and spent hourssss building my dream home with my sister only for it to burn to the literal ground in the first five minutes I CRIED FOR DAYS
my first sim was me as an adult (it looked nothing like me) and made my crush as an adult and made them start a family
Omg this is heavy relatable content. I always made an aged up “cooler” version of me and sometimes married my crush at the time 🙈😂
Allof my old sims used to have the half shaved base game hair. Like I was OBSESSED with this hairstyle back in the day .
-- two adult sisters -- two adult brothers -- a single dad named Zack with his kids Yvonne and Xavier (I think I said the mom died but I never actually made her)
Making Sims was less detailed, you only had skin tone, outfits and hairs to choose from.
Not the picture of Stanley showing up when Kayla says she's not playing with the same Sim again and again anymore haha
I would make different sims as a kid, but i would always move them into the exact same house and decorate it the exact same way lol
I have to do some research..."
Thank you Internet search engine and Carl's Guide to the Sims. My second try was much more satisfying.
I still play with the same family over and over again and I’m 22. They have the same traits, same spouse, same kids - different house though, I’m creative there!
They also look ever so slightly different, same hair and eye colour but different hair and clothing styles. Job too! I switch it up there.
And yes, for the most part, I do live my dream life in the sims :)
And I do it so flawlessly…hehe 😅
I always used these exact traits when I was a child. And the eyes OMG
She literally described my gameplay in the first 25 seconds… hahahahaha but i still have fun playing like this 😂
