THANKS FOR WATCHING ❤
It's fun watching people get this song and also the meaning going right over their head.
😂 😂
Absolutely fun
"mixed up world boys will be girls, girls will be boys...." "I'm a man and so is Lola"................listen
One of the cool things about being GEN X is we got to catch these guys live and Nirvana and Guns n Roses.
The lyrics at the very end of the song are brilliant 😂
Yeah 😂
When you made the comment "maybe she's transgender" you should have followed that train of thought with the rest of the lyrics. Trust your instincts.
Nah. The guy in the song named Lola is a transvestite i.e. a man who likes to dress up as a woman. This is not what we think of today as a transgender woman which back then would be called a transsexual.
@@grosbeak6130 Yeah, they didn't have transgender surgeries back then, or they weren't readily available or affordable. Words and medical technology don't define gender. Lola was same thing as transgender today.
@@eximusic No, not necessarily so. There are still men who dress like women but have no intention of having surgery. Right?
@@Vinterfrid transgender doesn't have to involve surgery. Medical technology doesn't define gender, and it wasn't available at the time of the song. There were and still are people who identify with the opposite gender 24/7 without surgery. Crossdressing and transvestite are two completely different things.
The Kinks were a classic 1960s British band that shadowed the times, the style and the music revolution of true British music. Love it. Just my stuff. Anyway nice to see you back in blue ! all we need is a few chickens and a mad goat.
That mad goat 😂
I just watch the grinch cartoon when I miss the goat 😂
@@GracieReacts Get bea to buy you a cuddly toy goat
Thanks for getting the full, loving humor of this song.
Ahh my blue-haired darlin' very well done, you light up my day, yes this is a classic from the Kinks..so glad you got into it..
💕 💕
That's the original version you played. Funnily enough this was initially band by the BBC in the UK. Not because of the Trans lyrics but because originally the song said "we drank Coca Cola" and the BBC did not allow advertising or product placement. So the Kinks produced a version which substituted Coca Cola for Cherry Cola.
Enjoy your reactions to a great song with very good lyrics.
I loved watching you get it. You did well! Great review!
😁
Well, she really didn't get it, did she?
“ Lola “ is a man !……not a transgender, a transvestite. The song released in 1970 was based on a true story, involving the Kinks manager.
I love your reactions.
Thanketh youeth 😁😍
I really enjoy your reactions.👍
You will love "some mother son" by the Kinks.
You've beautiful smile and you seem a lovely person. Thanks for the entertainment. Seems you were too busy 'grooving' to miss the biggest hint. And the song was full of hints. I thought you caught on to it early lol Take care, God bless.
well she is if she says she is
I have seen so many reaction videos where the meaning of this song is completely missed. Why is it so hard to understand?
😂 😂 I also wonder why
Maybe because the groove is 💃💃💃
No thumbs down for you Baby Girl!! No Way...
Hahaha thanks Chris 😁
You need to listen to the end of the song!
oh i missed something at the end?
The clues.
"She walked up to me and she asked me to dance" In the "old" days, women would not ask a man to dance: men would do the asking.
"I asked her her name in a dark brown voice she said Lola". Not a sweet feminine voice, but a dark brown voice.
"I'm not the world's most physical guy, but when she squeezed me tight she nearly broke my spine oh my Lola".
"I'm not dumb but I can't understand why she walks like a woman but talks like a man oh my Lola."
"She picked me up and sat me on her knee, said to me boy won't you come home with me".
"I'm not the world's most masculine man, but I know what I am and I'm glad I'm a man, and so's Lola"
The first clue is the first line, "old Soho" was a gay district, also drank Champagne tasted like cola, meaning nothing is as it seems
Lola is a man
I really don’t think she got it, guys!
I always press the like button for you Gracie...
Lola may be transgender or transvestite: "Transgender is defined as the person or group of individuals who do not agree to their original gender and are more interested in the ways and actions of the other gender. Transvestite is defined as people who like to dress up like the opposite sex, and it can be said that the word is exclusive to men who like to dress up like a woman."
💕
ohhhhh, this is my first time hearing transvestite
Many (most?) "drag queens" were (are?) transvestites, NOT transexuals,@@GracieReacts.
yes girl Lola was a man
You missed the punchline!
Lola was transgender.
Oh wow
@@GracieReacts yup. Listen again
@@JaniceDAgostino i said so in the video 😆
Hey Ray J. Lola was a prostitutes who did ask Ray Davies to dance. Ray did say Lola was beautiful, but declined her invitation. Lola proceeded to get into a cab with a heavily intoxicated Kinks manager Robert Wace/ The 2 went to Ray's apartment. The next morning when Ray arrived home. Robert and Lola were dancing. Ray noticed that Lola had stubble and needed a shave. He advised Robert that Lola was a transvestite .Bur Robert was too drunk to care. Please understand Ray, in 1970 'Transgenderism' was not an option. There were 'Drag Queen's (who were usually performers) and Transvestites' (who were usually prostitutes'. Just adding some historical content Sorry for the ramble Brother, RNB
