This is a band worth "going down the rabbit hole" for, many many hits, lots of variation. One of my favorites is "Come Dancing". Thanks for what you do.

It is based on a true story. Their manager met Lola in a Paris nightclub and didn’t find out until later that “ Lola “ was a man!

Played at every party and on the radio constantly. Since none of our parents ever listened to rock or paid attention to the lyrics, they never got the "questionable" lyrics. LOL

You actually have the original version there. Very early in the song they sing there's Champagne which tastes just like "Coca-Cola", pretty soon the makers of the brand threatened to sue and the line was changed to "tastes just like cherry cola". They were a super big band in the 60's and 70's, Lola was probably their biggest hit (in terms of international chart positions) but they had lots and lots of other hits all over the world including almost 30 albums. I could list numerous other singles to try but a few of the more well-known are Dedicated Follower of Fashion, All Day and All of the Night, You Really Got Me, and Sunny Afternoon, pick any of them.

I read that the lyric change was because the BBC couldn't carry advertising, so "Coca Cola" had to be changed in the UK release of the song. .
