Sir I am currently about to give my 1st Prof MBBS . I Want to Sincerely prepare for USMLE. I had already taken Subscription of Dr. Najeeb Lectures. Do I also need to see Kaplan videos?
Sir, it will be very very helpful if you make video on whole elective process. Sir I've seen your dams interview in very beginning of my first year and honestly it was my pivot point. And I have been exactly following your timeline, can't thank enough!!
That's one of the videos I planned to do pre-Covid. I stalled doing it since not a lot of people will be able to do electives this year. But I guess things will get back to normal one day, so I will do it.
@@ArjunChatterjee Sir do we really need to do Dams for getting marks like yours. But I am studying in Calcutta where there is no face to face Course for USMLE. So what should I do?

Thank you for the very informative video,It was very helpful. I have a doubt, I will be starting Medical School in 2021 here in India. Will the ECFMG 2023 guideline affect me in any way?Now it’s extended 2024. Can I take step-1, step-2 CK after I apply for ECFMG before 2024, It possible?
What do you suggest about after graduation we go for a research fellowship and then we give the steps but how should we time them like when to give step 1 before starting the research fellowship or after it's completion ??
hi doctor! could you please explain the usmle timeline for people who have a rural service bond of 2-3 years after mbbs, like how to take the steps accommodating the rural service? also another question i had is how and when to ask for LoRs? like should one ask for it immediately after finishing the elective course, or should one reach out to the clinic before the interviews and ask for it then? thank you so much!
I gave my usmle step 1 in 3rd year and currently I m in my 4th year .....so when should I start applying for electives ? Can I apply now in forth year or after 4th year result in internship?
hello dr, thank you so much for this informative video. Can I take the elective before the last year? as my university has 2 mandatory clinical years to earn the medical degree.

Hello sir.Im a 3rd year med student from kerala.i have plans on taking the usmle however I want to do my pg first here in India and then in the US. Is it possible to get electives without step 1 score? Is it ok to write step 1 after I do the electives (when I'm a house surgeon in india) The reason being is that the validity is only 7 years right?so if I take step 1 in 2023(HS),I have validity til 2030.which gives me ample time to complete my indian pg and hopefully 2 years for preparing my research and stuff before I take step 3.what do u think of this? Would appreciate if u answer soon enough as I wanna come to a decision as to whether it is wise to take step 1 this year or in '23.
Sir is it ok to take step 1 in 3rd year Bcoz most big coaching names for pg in india told me to take in internship Bcoz you don't have enough clinical experience until 3rd year
I have very clearly explained the advantage of taking step 1 in 3rd year. You get to apply for electives. Watch the video again if you didn't get that part. And no amount of clinical experience is going to help you clear USMLE if you don't prepare for it.
Hello sir...I am from Bangladesh...a second year student....our system is we study anatomy, biochemistry and physiology in the first 1 and a half years(1st and 2nd year of mbbs) then community medicine, forensic in third year ...patho , micro and pharma in 4th year....finally surgery, medicine, obgyn in 5th year...then we do a year of internship/elective....so my question is ,can I do my USCE after my 5th year(I get almost 2 months off before my electives start) ....also, does USCE accept OET or only TOEFL? Thanks a lot for helping us❤️
Good question. You're eligible for electives as long as you're in the FINAL year of your medical college, I.e. the last year. Also, you must complete all your core clerkships (medicine, surgery, obgyn, paed etc.) before you're eligible.
HEY DOC, just an explanation on how to do electives while internship in india because it is something we have to do in our med school only and once we complete it we arent eligible for electives so in what time window should we apply .PLEASE EXPAIN, THANKS FOR VIDEO IT WAS A MUCH NEEDED ONE

Hello sir! I'm a 2nd yr medical student. I'm interested in applying for a research elective in my 3rd year. How to get in touch with program preceptors? How can I increase my chances of getting selected for the research elective? Sir, you're making great content for aspirants like me. Thanks a lot.
Hello Sir ! This is Aniska From Odisha and currently I am a first Year MBBS student in IMS and Sum Hospitals Bhubaneshwar Odisha. Sir I am very much interested in doing USMLE and I really wanted to prepare and your videos are amazing in knowing resources and how to approach , Thank you soo much Sir. 1.Sir one of my biggest concerns is I am a MBBS student from a private medical college and no body ever from odisha have done USMLE before and at the same time my college is also not a part of VSLO network so Is it possible for me to get a match from this college and Does college play an important role in matching???? Sir Can I get good electives by being a part of this college?? 2. Sir should I start my prep from now itself or should i start in my 2nd year ? Did u use any coaching for USMLE such as DAMSDELHI or any sort of that?? Thank you
Thank you sir for making such a greatly helpful video, it was such a relief to find all the actually useful information in one place, I can't thank enough. I have a few questions- 1) Is there any way to get sponsored/ scholarships(?) for electives? Or is there any clinic that offers electives at a low cost?? 2) I'm a 1st year MBBS student. But, just in case, if I cannot take Step-1 nor do any electives before graduation and so end up following the 3rd pathway that you mentioned, what are the chances of getting into a residency? Or should I take risks and try to follow the 1st pathway no matter what instead? Is it worth it? (please don't get me wrong, I'm just really scared about taking such a big decision) 3) If someone has already done a postgraduation from outside of the USA, such as MRCP, MRCS, etc, what is the process for him/her to start practicing in the USA? 4) It would be really helpful if you make a detailed video about different types of visas for the USA Thanks again for your hard work and effort that you put into making such an informative video.
1. Low cost electives are hard to find. Maybe free observerships are there. But it's all about connections. 2. Best to take step 1 while in your medical school. Don't delay till graduation. 3. Same even if you have previous post-grad experience from another country. You'll have to repeat residency. 4. You will find others talking about Visas. I don't have expertise in it, so can't speak about it.
that is exactely what i was looking for , thank you

You need electives I.e. hands on USCE to be competitive. Do whatever suits you and your medical school allows you.

Send the forms six months before. It depends on where you take the exam, but six months ahead is an excellent place to start.
