    Not so adventurous...next vid is a rugged 10-day wilderness trip.
    FYI you can only buy the Draumr directly from Amok (anything else is a scam): amok-equipment.com
    This video isn't a review---reviewing a product after using it for 24 hours isn't much good---just an initial test. So if you want specs and FAQs, Amok has great videos on their hammocks:

    Love you guys. I’m 63 years old and I’ve been camping and chopping wood for years. When I see Erin it reminds me of how tough I was (still am). Keep filming you guys rock and definitely wet the toothbrush. She’s right. ❤

    First, wet tooth brush.
    Second, I would suggest that you set your suspension straps at the same height. I think you could then fine tune the hang easier from there. The fact that Jon's side was strapped higher was the likely cause of him feeling tilted to the middle.
    Third, just wanted to say that this was another fantastic video. I'm envious that you are able to get outdoors as much as you do and make a living at it. Can't wait to see the next adventure.

    Would be great to see a single (or Double) Amok set up from how you select the site, tying it to the trees, setting up the inflatable inserts, getting the rainproof tarp in place
    Basically something that gives a genuine feel for what’s involved and the realistic time it takes to scout a good location and set the Amok up to the cost point of ready to sleep in with a nice view and no worries about insects or rain; instructional would be good like a real life uncensored manual; it would help me get into the “let’s do it” mindset; taking away the excuses of the unknown.

      I use a dry brush. I think the paste sticks better to a dry brush. I don't want a lot of foam that dilutes the abrasives of the paste. I feel the paste does a better job cleaning the teeth. I try to mimic what the dental hygienist does. I also use an electric brush with a round brush head. Sorry Erin.😢

    Nothing wrong with a good ole car camp from time to time! The Amok hammocks do look so comfy but I think the person I shared with would have to be a very sound sleeper because I get up a lot to use the washroom during the night. I may find my self locked out after the third time. haha! Certainly looks interesting, especially for those that sleep through the night. Thanks for sharing your car camp! :) :)

  • @alexmcneily
    @alexmcneily 7 месяцев назад

    On the basis of your earlier solo Draumer review, I bought one and REALLY wanted to love it. I think they have done exceptional, detailed and innovative design in these hammocks - and I think it plays out best in the double version. The quality is absolute top notch. I set it up many times over two days, and took a nap in it a couple of times. But, in fairness, I sew my own hammocks and used them for over 10 years and tweaked the design. I have worked out all the issues and unfortunately the Draumer was less enjoyable, less forgiving of setup situation, and just too warm for warm weather camping, than my home-built. I really wanted to love it, but I returned it.
    But this is the best one I've seen for two person hammock - and a very good review.

  • @bonilsson3161
    @bonilsson3161 7 месяцев назад

    So now, since you are married you can share a hammock... wonderful! Car camping is nice, its just easy to get used to that increased comfort. It could be a good way to go when you are testing some new gear (like your hammock), if it doesnt work you can just drive back home.
    Loved your video from Icecovered Lake Superior, I really like that season, almost like pre spring. No bugs, really crispy air, and hardly anyone else out there, just need to have a few spare days like you had to wait for the ice to blow away or melt.

  • @lindygoesoutside

    I figured you guys would get the double! My husband and I just got our Draumrs in the fall and finally got out to use them. The first time was definitely an ordeal to get into the sleeping bag but it gets better each time... best sleep I've ever had out in the bush! We were a little sad being so far away from each other, having always used a double sleeping bag. We shoulda waited since they just announced the double UGH!! Oh well, future purchase eventually :3
    Also, Erin wins. Wet toothbrush all the way.

So I was curious what you two think about it, especially because you mainly use the single DRAUMR and have great experience. Thankfully there are lots of trees in Ontario to be able to to without tents. I totaly get why we won´t see you two in the double hammock a lot on your trips. Depending on the terrain and forest conditions, sometimes it can be challenging to find a good place to hang a single. The question then becomes whether it would be more difficult to find spots for two singles vs. one (slightly) larger spot for the double. Time will tell, I guess. (p.s. "Hi, Erin!")

    I struggle with hammocks because of I issues sleeping on my back. The Dramr, with its' possibilities of side sleeping, intrigues me, but the price of the single is daunting; the double would likely be out of reach, especially on a piece of gear I'm unfamiliar with.
