young people usually see things more clearly than the elderly and aren't weighed down by nonsensical altruistic ideals. The old have often grown to soft and forgiving, there's too much of that in the international order, we need warriors, not more bleeding hearts, peaceniks and negotiators. I think the Iranians will have factored in Israeli retaliation....Give them some credit. At the end of the day, Israel is a country 260 miles long and 70 miles wide in a state of perpetual war. There is no evidence that this war is making Israel more secure. Good luck with it. i wont be going there for my summer holidays that is for sure.
That is the problem with most analysis of the current wars, they somehow imagine that everyone thinks alike. The threat of death and value of life is treated differently in some places. By the time anyone is picking up weapons against Israel or the US they have calculated and well aware of the consequences.

…and, what exactly would you have had Chamberlain do when Germany invaded Austria and Sudetenland when England needed to begin modernizing and rearming itself because its military was woefully unprepared to fight Germany? Dunkirk happened in late 1940 and that was the French and English army standing up to German aggression. Chamberlain was not naive. He and England had no other reasonable option other than to buy time for England to build a wartime economy and rearm. Blaming Chamberlain becomes the way to pass the buck for the League of Nations doing absolutely nothing to hold Germany accountable for breaking its treaty obligations under the Treaty of Versailles and rearmed Germany beginning in 1935.

Nuclear weapons offer a kind of deterrence against invasion, but that's it. Nuclear weapons didn't help the US in Vietnam or Afghanistan. They didn't help the Soviet Union in Afghanistan. They're not helping Russia in Ukraine, except only to the extent giving some caution to Western support.
Israel did provoke the Iranian response. Escalation, at this point, would be extremely dangerous. It's time for the U.S. to "rein in" Israel. We don't really know "what capability" Iran has? It's possible, they may already have "many" weapons of mass destruction, including nuclear weapons supplied by Russia?

regardless of what happens Iran needs severe regime change as of yesterday, and even if it requires a military dictator similar to the Shah rather than elected government, once they're compliant with and obey the western powers, I can live with that - the security of EU, US and other allies such as ANAZC, Japan, S.
