I get what you are saying but its kind of strange. Most of the oldest conflicts we know of often are from airid regions and or areas around the Fertile Crescent probably because of its namesake alone. We have always been at war with one another. Some of the more peaceful people that were mostly isolated still had feuds like native americans or islandic peoples.

There will not be an "oil price spike" in the US if Israel were to attack Iranian oil facilities. Iran's oil sales are sanctioned, and their product goes almost exclusively to China. The US is a net exporter and energy independent. There may be reasons for Israel to show restraint, but oil pricing in the US is not one of them.

What is so frightening is the fact the future of democracy in America and perhaps the that of the rest of the free world may depend upon Israel and Iran showing some modicum of restraint.
