We Need To Talk About What The San Francisco 49ers Are Doing.. | NFL News (Chase Young, Brock Purdy)

  • The San Francisco 49ers hit a rough stretch prior to their bye week in the 2023 NFL season that I don’t think anyone saw coming. And to answer that, all they did was pull off a Chase Young trade. And yeah, between everything we saw out of the 49ers defense, the 49ers offense, their coaching adjustments from HC Kyle Shanahan & DC Steve Wilks, etc, what the 49ers are now capable of is a nightmare for the NFL.
To start with the 49ers defense, the addition of Chase Young to San Francisco’s frontline joining Nick Bosa, Javon Hargrave, Arik Armstead, Clelin Ferrell, Javon Kinlaw, Randy Gregory, etc, the rotations and schemes they are running as seen through the film will be borderline impossible to stop. And not to mention with their assistance from Dre Greenlaw, Fred Warner, Charvarius Ward, Talanoa Hufanga, etc. in the secondary, this 49ers defense just took another step in the right direction.
Then even with the 49ers offense, this side of the ball arguably looked better than it has all year. Brock Purdy was being used in his most efficient manner, Christian McCaffrey thrived on the ground with the re-addition of Deebo Samuel & Trent Williams returning from injury. And with the newly used ways of continuing to get Brandon Aiyuk, George Kittle, Jauan Jennings, Ronnie Bell & even Kyle Juszczyk from the backfield with Elijah Mitchell, it’s clear that when they are fully healthy, Kyle Shanahan knows exactly how to take care of business in many different ways.
This video includes 2023 San Francisco 49ers highlights, also including topics like San francisco 49ers 2023, 49ers vs jaguars highlights, chase young 49ers highlights, 49ers defense highlights, 49ers jaguars full game, 49ers live, 49ers reaction, chase young 49ers trade, 49ers randy gregory, brock purdy 49ers highlights, christian mccaffrey 49ers highlights, 49ers offense, sf 49ers news, 49ers injury news, 49ers news today, 49ers news and rumors, chase young nick bosa 49ers, brandon aiyuk highlights, 49ers super bowl, 49ers game live, 49ers jags, cmc 49ers, deebo samuel news, trent williams 49ers, 49ers film, 49ers vs jaguars reaction, chase young interview, 49ers interviews, 49ers practice, 49ers sack, 49ers report, 49ers live, 49ers full game, 49ers bucs, 49ers buccaneers preview, etc, which I do not own ANY of the rights to whatsoever, as these are intended to be used under the guidelines of fair use through RUclips.

I don't care what anyone says, Trent Williams was the biggest injury we've had this year. Not saying CMC being banged up and playing hurt, Deebo being out, Aiyuk even missing a couple games early were nothing - but when you lose maybe the best O line player in the league, it hurts in every way.

Also the fact that we have multiple high caliber/octane weapons they can kind of supplement the absence of one or two weapons we have nobody even close to the production of Trent

    • @hype88
      @hype88 7 месяцев назад +4

Agree 100%.. We have 4 legitimate all out elite offensive skill players so losing one for a bit here and there can be masked but considering OL is clearly our weakest group (ranked #22 I believe even counting when Trent plays) and our only player that's anywhere close to elite is Trent there so his single impact is felt significantly more (not to mention he plays the most important position on the line as well).. I'm hoping they go hard in the next draft for OL because we need depth in the worst way and obviously can't buy it with all the mouths we already have to feed coming up for reups. Trent is def. extra special though as he is one of the very few O-Lineman I genuinely enjoy watching at all times even with all the talent we have throughout that offense.

Purdy has the highest passer rating and highest QBR in the NFL and also leads the league in yards per pass completion and yards per pass attempt . . . while playing behind an O-line ranked #22 in pass block-win rate. And so when Trent Williams goes out, there is little to block for the running game. And then consider that the Niners' two most dominant runners are CMC and Deebo, and Deebo was out with a fractured shoulder those three losses and McCaffrey tore his oblique muscle, missed part of the first loss and played hurt the next two losses, without an effective O-line to run block . . . which took away all play-action credibility for Purdy, who also was pressured on more than half of his drop backs as a result . . . . .

All big facts. To piggyback, we need to consider attributing Brock’s bad plays in the 2nd loss to the Vikings came after a concussion. In all 3 losses, Brock still managed to make some big boy throws though. People are quick to compare him to a Mahomes, Allen or Hurts versus a Z Wilson or Pickett, which are QBs drafted the same year before him. The criticism is a doubled edged sword scenario for Brock.

    • @calebgrigson
      @calebgrigson 7 месяцев назад +5

So Purdy was still 43-61 in the Vikings and the Bengals games he technically did a really good job. He had 4 really bad passes. Outside of that he did a good job. Four passes makes all the difference. I’m not including the game against the browns because that is the game that Deebo and Williams got hurt. It was also poor weather that game.

I think a big part of this was anger, the feeling that there was something to prove after a 3 loss streak. And they DEFINITELY proved whatever they needed to and more. So happy to see Chase Young in red and gold, it fits him much better than burgundy and yellow, and him and Nick Bosa are going to make every QB in the league wish they'd never dropped back.

Something that doesn't seem to be getting alot of pub: The 49ers played the Browns on a 10AM PST start when the Browns were coming off a bye. They still were a missed Field Goal from winning. They then played Minn in Minn on a Monday night. Thats two long trips. That was followed by a short week (6 days rest) to play the Bengals at home...who were themselves coming off a bye. The 49ers looked exhausted vs Cincy. Especially on D. In just three weeks, they had a net -15 days rest disadvantage.
There are no excuses. You have to play the games on the schedule...but what really jumped off the screen vs the Jags was how rested and fast they looked.

Trent Williams is the key to the offense, Deebo is also as important a piece as Kittle and CMC. The Chase Young addition makes the 49ers Super Bowl favourites, they have all the weapons to beat the Eagles. That defense is a fortress, offense is surgical.

The Niners are a defense first team. It really sets the tone for them. They were abysmal in their three losses. They didn’t look like the same D we are used to seeing. I think they got back to who they are. Wilks was trying too many “cute” things that took the D out of what they do.

You are so right on all counts! Starting off the way you did, with Chase Young, not only does it help open things up for bosa, and for the coverage, but also Javon Hargrave, who quietly had an amazing game, especially because he was getting more one-on-one opportunities with more attention on Young. On offense, just a few plays can tell the tale - Line up Deebo in the backfield, CMC out wide, fake the run to Deebo and then hit CMC on a screen for 9 yards plus 15 for a facemask and Shanahan is in heaven! Then twice, on two separate plays, you have Trent running out and blocking the DB #31 and the DB literally running away from Trent because he does not want that smoke - and one of those was on the end-around TD by Deebo (and what other wide-out could run an end-around like that like Deebo?). So yeah, definitely missed those two on offense the last few games.

The way Deebo just casually gallops (making it appear as though - The Defense might get him before he turns the corner- you could swear - its a loss of yards) But he hits that hole- or just hits Whatever Defensive player Thats in his way and turns on the gas- The Deebo effect is Real. But Big Trent is The Glue....#RedNGoldTillDeadNCold

It’s no surprise that the energy disappeared when the two dudes that lead the pack out to the field with the boombox and energy were out. People will take this game and run with it to use as a way to discredit purdy, but he’s won without Aiyuk. Trent Williams and Deebo Samuel being out murdered how our offense is structured. Even despite that we were in positions to win and the kicker didn't come thru for us. Kicker aside if we have Deebo and Trent in we arent even in positions for a game to be decided by a fg. 42-10 vs the Cowboys with Trent for the most part and now that he's back 34-3 Jags. That's not a coincidence. Those 3 lost games would have been wins if he never got injured and Brock Purdy would still be undefeated and we'd be 9-0 right now with 0 question we are the best team in the league. Nothing was learned or improved from the Cowboys game. We simply got our personnel back. But yeah, Chase young adding pressure to the left side helps a bit.

Biggest difference was push up front by D tackles. Especially Hargrave, he was unstoppable. Almost every passing play, one or both tackles were in the backfield. On one sack, Hargrave pushed his O guard seven yards backwards in about 2 seconds. When you've got Bosa and Young streaking around the corners upfield, suddenly a moribund D line rush is turbofueled. QB can't step up into pocket, QB can't escape around the end.
On the O side, biggest difference was Williams return. Best O lineman in football, and the niners run game went nowhere without him.

Look at the film of past games the line was doing the same things. The difference mainly was the coverage schemes. They were more aggressive and most importantly Wilks finally started disguising them. Before the coverages he was running were telegraphed to opposing QB and they played softer. That left the really short throws open and gave QB’s quick reads. Not sack friendly at all.

Absolutely, the best OL in the world playing the most important position on the O line, protecting the back of the QB. As a QB, you feel more comfortable not getting blindsided. With him the OL was ranked 22nd - without him prolly dead last. Oh he is also athletic to pull block on runs.

When I think of the 49ers I think of the GOAT Joe Montana, Jerry Rice, Steve Young, and suffocating DEFENSE. This is what the NINERS DO. They SUFFOCATE their OPPONENT to the point they CANNOT BREATH. When the NINERS have their CORE players playing together they are unbeatable; not the Chiefs, or the Eagles they are simply unstoppable. Purdy was amazing again; he was surgically removing the stinched of the last 3 losing games. He got back to his DNA, making accurate throws, make quick/decisive decision, and carving that defense.

Part of the answer…is the backfield coverage forcing the QB to hold that ball just maybe another half to one second. By then Bosa should be there.

TRENT WILLIAMS IS BACK BABY!!!!!! Look, my dude is the most athletic big man in the game, maybe the most gifted OT to every play the game, whether you talking pass protection or opening holes for the running game TRENT IS A BEAST. A football team is not one guy, but without an O-Line the offense doesn't work and the O-Line doesn't work with Trent. When he's on the field SF has arguably the best O-Line in the NFL, and in football the offense with the best O-line is the best offense. You Add to that the best D-Line is the game hands down, and you control the line on both sides of the ball... This is a team that could go all the way. 12.3.23 Eagles Baby we gunna see if SF can live up to the potential. I expect a hell of a game, and I expect the winner to take the NFC and go to the Superbowl.

They build the team from scratch over the years since kyle has taken over. The only big pieces they added was TW,CMC,Juice,Ward and couple more but just like any team in the NFL they’re are trying to be unstoppable on both sides of the ball currently they are not complete I don’t think anyone can be 100% complete in every position available.

two of three games Brock Purdy played he had a concussion (Bengals and Vikings) so it's not entirely his fault for having those two games being high interceptions to td ratio before the Bengals game concussion he was putting up great stats right after he threw a pick same with Vikings and the browns game he's just never played in weather like that in the NFL he's still young so there's so much to still learn

It was insane that so many talking heads were saying that SF needed to bench Purdy!! In only one of those loses did he play terribly. His stats are insane.
That one pass across the field to Aiyuk for the TD? Commentator and talking heads.."stupid play", "threw it up for grabs", "he was lucky". If Mahomes had thrown that, the very same people would be saying "what an incredible play!", "Perfect pass", "making something out of nothing again". Purdy knew exactly where he was throwing that ball and dropped right into the hands of Aiyuk.

For the Niners to go on the SB, we need TRENT WILLIAMS AT ALL COST. Deebo last year missed 3 games, but we still won because we could still run the ball. Without Trent, we barely make it to Divisional round. We need all hands on deck to go all the way.

I think it was good for SF49 and BP to experience to loose 3 games, that gives the opportunity to learn and reflect and adjust, its way better to do it mid season than in the play-offs.

We have been blessed to have Joe Staley at that tackle position for many years and that he got to play in 2 Super Bowls.
But lets face it, In Spite all the great acquisitions in the proceeding off Seasons, trades and drafts, none was bigger than picking up Trent Williams. The team is just loaded with playmakers on both sides of the ball. It would not do any good if Brock is running for his life half of the time.
Purdy makes this o line look like one of the best, whereas, if Jimmy G were still here, that sack total would almost triple.
The NFC Championship game showed this last year, where the Defense went toe to toe and kept Jalen Hurts in wraps for most of the game. But if you cannot block and also have a qb be able to throw to your weapons, the offense looked like a Hellcat you buy, but has no wheels and is on 4 jack stands:
Make sure to get a future Trent Williams over there.

  • @jasonbasant5624

Before the 49ers hit 34 points, they ran 25 passes and 20 or 21 rushes, so a pass dominant team. Unusual for Shanahan, and supposedly what they didn't want to happen after the last three weeks.
